He showed us several to choose from and was very helpful in the process of choosing within our budget. He also offered us other items to choose from to enhance our selection without being pushy. He thoroughly explained the warranty on the mattress as well. I bought a mattress here a few months ago. Their price was the same as other places in town. It was a good mattress that I am very happy with. The purchase was quick and easy mostly because I knew exactly what I wanted. Delivery took just a few days. The delivery people were very courteous and friendly. They actually arrived early, but phoned me to let me know. They waited about 15 minutes while I dove over to my new apartment to meet them. I'll give them an A+ for that. read more

Mattress Warehouse never resolved the issue. They are untrustworthy and I feel bad for anyone who purchases a mattress from them. The mattress I am stuck with is sitting in a large closet until I can find someone who likes to sleep in hard mattresses. My husband and I both have bad backs and have to be careful. Mattress Warehouse does not have mattresses in their salesrooms that accurately reflect the feel of the mattress. Be careful. read more

Visited this business today to purchase a bed frame. Problems began as I was being rung up for the frame. First, the manager (and only employee working) would not accept cash as payment as he did not have change...I give the benefit of the doubt and opt to pay with a card (which proved to be a mistake.) As the manager was ringing up the sale, he first swiped my card and charged the price of the frame. I received a receipt from the card reader to prove I was charged for the amount of the frame. I was then provided an invoice instead of a receipt from the store computer system...I point out the error since it read that I owed the amount in question...even though I was just charged for it. As the manager is attempting to fix the fault, he FALLS ASLEEP AT HIS DESK in the middle of my transaction... dumbfounded, I remain standing there until the man regains consciousness to complete my transaction. After he prints out another dicey looking store receipt, he demanded I sign the paper which I refused, as I was not comfortable considering the recent events that took place. At this point he becomes irate, and swears at me in the store and threatens to cancel out the transaction! If I was not in dire need of a frame I would have walked out immediately. The way I was spoken to by this so called manager is absolutely unacceptable. I will never return to this location, or any other mattress warehouse location again in the future. Apparently making a sale is of the utmost importance, not finding the right mattress. Salesman, Brad, became antagonistic and hostile because we could not make a decision. We bought a mattress that same day elsewhere. More importantly, we have shared our bad experience with numerous people who will not be shopping at the State College Mattress Warehouse. Ended up with bed we love but it was a pain in the butt and took more than 2 month. My wife and I are very different sleepers. I like a very very firm mattress and she likes softer. Finding a king bed to satisfy us both wasn't likely but we tried. Mattress Warehouse had a cool test bed to find pressure points and helped guide shopping but we ended up compromising on a mattress and adjustable frame. The frame is nice to elevate our head or feet while reading or whatever but I was immediately unhappy with the mattress. We waited the 30 nights to exchange and ended up sending an additional $1000 between the exchange and mattress upgrade. We ended up buying extra long twin splits so we were both happy. More expensive but it is the route we originally planned. Took a lot of phone calls to make the exchange work and I am very hesitant to do business with them in the future. Will not recommend to friends and family. read more

Moved to State College recently and wanted a decently-priced, good quality bed for a few years. Mark was very helpful in helping me get a Simmons Beautyrest plush, headboard, and delivery all the next day. The delivery company called in the morning to give a 2 hour window which was pretty accurate. Delivery & setup was very efficient & they were friendly and courteous. You might be thinking, "One-star? Really? But it's a mattress store! There aren't many ways to mismanage a mattress store!" Prior to shopping at this mattress store, I thought that if a mattress store had reasonable prices and a reasonable selection, it must - at the very least - be an OK mattress store. Boy was I mistaken! If there was ever a one-star mattress outlet, this is it. I say this for two reasons. First, the sales clerk made little effort to conceal the fact that she was either angry (presumably because of something that happened before we arrived) or just a mean-spirited person. It was cringe-inducing to see how unwilling/unable she was to let go of negative energy, meanwhile *we* - the customers - were trying to be friendly and agreeable with her. *We* had somehow assumed the role of maintaining a friendly, cooperative tone for doing business. It was surreal, like there had been a role-reversal between the company and the client. At one point, after we'd decided on a mattress, another sales clerk asked our clerk something like, "So? What did you find?" It was a somewhat awkwardly phrased question, but our sales clerk seized upon his question and berated him right in front of us -- she'd found a mattress, duh! Our sales clerk was clearly *not* trying to conceal her bitter attitude. It was obviously an inappropriate reaction, yet the other clerk didn't even vocalize a response, instead opting to return quietly to paperwork at his desk! Second, I'm suspicious of their business ethics. After deciding on a mattress and sitting down to pay, we were told quite matter-of-factly that they didn't have the corresponding bed frame in stock. We informed them we were intent on finding a mattress and bed frame that same day (We needed to figure this out while we were all in town together). But just as we were about to get up and leave, they hurried into the back of the store and came back assuring us they *did* have the bed frame after all. It was as if - having faced the prospect that they might not seal the deal with us - they were suddenly willing to say or do anything to keep us there. So maybe they somehow forgot about the extra bed frame, right? Well, upon installing it, we discovered this bed frame was missing the proper screws needed for the crossbeam that goes under the center of the mattress. But I'm busy, other people are heading out of town, it's late in the evening, and no one has the time to dispute this with the mattress store - let alone deal with those sales clerks again. I'm not going to make any accusations, but one could speculate that the sales clerks might have known about the missing screws but sold it to us anyhow because they were possibly worried we might not otherwise give them our money. And now, if I understand the warranty correctly, my warranty is voided because I installed my bed without properly attaching the crossbeam beneath the center of the mattress. Summoning every charitable bone in my body, I'll give those sales clerks the benefit of the doubt, despite the fact that those sales clerks oozed with verbal and nonverbal cues of a shadier sort. The Mattress Warehouse franchise seems pretty reputable to me, but I think shoppers would be wise to steer clear of this particular outlet! read more

This is a bait and switch scam and we came so close to falling for it. We ordered the mattress on 5/24/15 (Sunday) for a Thursday pickup. No one called, we followed up and it appears they forgot about our mattress and promised us it would show up the following Thursday. Again the mattress did not show up. Then they said they had a comparable mattress that would be shipped directly to our house (remember there is no refund once it shows up). My wife suspected at this point something was not right so we asked to check out the mattress in the showroom and it was clearly an inferior mattress that was hard as a rock and sagged in the middle --The sales person Mark told us its sagging because children had been playing on it-- although the mattresses on the right and left were not sagging. The salesman was helpful and not pushy, delivery was quick and the deliverymen were very nice and gave me an accurate time of arrival, and so far no issues with the mattress. My husband is even happy with it and he wasn't there to try it before purchasing. read more
