When I returned to ask about it, I was told the item had supposedly arrived the day after my purchase and that they had tried to contact me. This was untrue--no call was ever made, and no item was ever delivered to the store. To this day, I have not received the item I paid for. My experience has been marked by misinformation and lack of accountability. I would not recommend this location based on how this situation was handled.

Today was my mom and I first time visiting an Ollie's store. We had a great time, at first. The…read morestore was clean, organized and there was a great selection of books. The problem came when it was time to check out. The guy on the first register from the checkout line to the left around 1:45pm on December 24, 2024 is the reason I am leaving this review. My mom and I were next in line to checkout and the other registers were occupied by other customers alsobchecking out. When the young cashier guy finished ringing up his customer instead of checking us out next, he walks off and pretends to busy himself with something which was very obvious he didn't want to ring up anyone BUT when the next register opened up and my mom and I walked to the next cashier he immediately went back to his register to take the next customer behind us. At that moment it was extremely clear he didn't not want to ring us up for whatever reason but that was extremely rude! I don't want to say race was a part of it but I can't think of any other reason he choose to intentionally not ring us up when we had the same amount of items the customer he helped before and after us had. This really messed up our first time experience at Ollies. The cashier lady to the right side we ended up going to was very nice and signed my mom up for the Ollies Army rewards. After we left I called and spoke to the manager, I think his name is Mike or Michael. I explained what just took place and he was very nice and said he will run the cameras back and also notify upper management. We appreciate him for hearing our concern and not dismissing us. Hopefully the cashier takes a customer service course or finds a new job where he free to be rude else where. This was very upsetting to be treated the way we were and it being obvious in plain sight. Hopefully a real consequence for the young boy comes out of it.

Understand that cheap furniture isn't good, but good furniture isn't cheap. Still, the value we…read morefound at Star compensated for the price ... a matter of getting what you pay for. The fact that the company is owned by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway lends further credibility. We purchased a six-piece bedroom set (totally USA made), and were able to negotiate a very fair price (no, you needn't pay the MSRP). Our salesperson, TuTu, was knowledgeable, very professional and courteous ... a pleasure to work with. So why not five stars? (1) Delivery fee is close to $300 (one reason why we felt obligated to negotiate) ... but these folks do not move out any furniture or haul away unwanted pieces. The room must be empty of any furnishings prior to their arrival. As people in our eighties, we'll have to rely on others to help. Thankfully, our grandkids and their boyfriends are in great shape. Star's competitor (the mattress guy) has similar top-quality furniture, and offers delivery/haul-away services at no charge ... but we really wanted the set we saw at Star over anything at his location. (close call, though). (2) Star offers interest-free financing for two years. However, if the sale amount is not paid in full by then, interest is retroactively charged from the date of purchase. The suggested monthly payment is not large enough to cover the purchase price ... kinda sneaky. In addition, they charge $15 for a credit applkication. After spending about $8000, one would think that the least they could do is absorb that fee. Of course, management deleted it when we advised TuTu that we wouldn't pay it. Actually, our only reason for using the credit option was to keep our savings earning interest while paying down the bill. We ultimately decided to pay it off immediately, lest there be any issue with the financing agency down the road. We'd only hope that Star would rethink those nickel-and-dime charges that put a bit of a damper on the experience ... anyone have Warren Buffett's phone number?
