I called the other day to talk to a rep about a twin mattress set. I was hoping to get an idea of starting price and what Sleepy's had to offer on the show room floor before I made the 30 minute drive down there. I to spoke to "Ray" from Sleepy's and he was the least helpful person I've spoken to in awhile. Not only did he quote me price range between "$500 and $200,000" with a great deal of sarcastic tone in his voice but even after explaining to him what mattress I was looking for he continued to tell me he couldn't help me unless he knew what I wanted to look at and that I should just come to the store. Seriously? I know its competitive marketplace so quoting prices over the phone can instantly result in a lost sale but if you learn some basic sales skills that will not happen! I called Beiter's next and they gave me a starting price point and explained some other options to me just as I asked. Perfect. Sleepy's will not be seeing any of my business. I do have to agree with the review below, and I do have a few gripes (but mainly good comments). I did call this store a few months ago to ask for a price on a Tempurpedic bed (I was over 40 minutes away from the store) and they wouldn't give me any pricing over the phone. They said it was too competitive of a market and that I could look online because the Tempurpedics were all priced the same. It didn't make sense to me. I DID go to Beiter's but Beiter's is just all about making a sale--they don't do discounts, or work with you at all, and all they did was bash brands that they didn't carry, so I walked out. I finally got down to Sleepy's and found a mattress, bed frame, pillows, etc and wanted to bundle them. One of the associates (I don't want to say name) called a higher-up and got a discount for me if I made the purchase that exact day. Sounds great, right? No. I was told that the second I left the store that the deal would be no good. I asked if I could go next door to Subway and get a coffee to think it over, he said no, that literally the second I walked out the deal was off the table. I walked out, I was so mad that I was being pressured into the deal. I went back a couple weeks later and met Steve, another associate. LOVE HIM! Not only did he get a great deal for me, but he also let me go home, pull out cash from our safe, think it over, and I was back in the store within the hour paying it off in full! He was SO willing to let me think, leave the store, make some calls, etc. And I have to say, while I was working with Steve, I saw this "other associate" let a gentleman leave the store to think over a deal that he was just offered! What the heck?! I didn't say anything because I didn't want to cause a scene, especially since Steve was so amazing to work with. All I have to say is, ask for STEVE. He worked with me up and down, left and right, to find me EXACTLY what I needed. He worked with me on price, product, sales, deals, and like I said, he gave me the freedom to leave and come back to the store (and I did within the hour like I said!). My friend Nicole also used Steve for a deal, and she would go to him in a heart beat again, as would I! I don't know about the Ray much in the below review, but I will say this--I did call the store after I made my purchase to ask if the bed was arriving on time the next day (my bed was on backorder so I had to wait 4 days before picking everything up) and he DID give me a sarcastic comment on the phone. Like I said, ask for STEVE! I told that original sales rep that I was uncomfortable with the pressure of either putting a deposit down before I left the store doors, or else the deal was off the table, but he just said that's how they do it there (but it's not, it's not what Steve does). So, like I said, my products are GREAT, my service with Steve was GREAT, and the prices from Steve were GREAT! I'd go to Steve again any day! And I plan to next year when we put a 4th bedroom in our basement! =) read more
