I will update the review, once the mattress is delivered. 10/15/19 I have attached a photo of the review I already wrote to mattress firm but was told couldn't be published because store read it and didn't feel it "reflected its values." Had I known it's reviews were monitored by the store I wouldn't have made the purchase I did. The purchase process itself was standard sales (salesman convincing you to buy more than you want, it taking a long time, him "discounting" yet you paying more than you ever wanted), while I will say the store itself was dealing with a weird leak on the second floor that made walking around unpleasant. My gripe is more with the delivery process and the customer service. I was told my delivery window the night before and called the store to tell them timing was incompatible in the middle of the day. The associate canceled my delivery (which I previously had to clear with my building) and when I asked to get it back he couldn't. When I asked how we could resolve this issue he told me I didn't pay enough for the mattress and asked why I didn't have anyone that could receive the mattress for me. I called headquarters and they suspiciously don't have any humans available to answer the phone and the chat feature was a "human" who directed me back to the store. At this point, I've paid a lot for a mattress and it's unclear when I will receive it.

We made our way through the store, thinking... they may not have a large selection. That we may have to go somewhere else. We were pleasantly surprised that they had a large selection. And, they had the mattress that we had in mind. After about 5 minutes a staff member came over and greeted us again. Without being pushy he answered our questions and concerns. He asked us various questions and showed us some other mattresses that were available. He seemed very knowledgeable and has all the right answers. After a while he left us to our own devices to check our the 3 mattresses we were curious about. He came back and again, without being pushy gave us various options. At the end of a good 30 min discussion with him we ended up purchasing a mattress that we liked... and he recommended. This was not the most expensive one that we were looking at but middle of the price range. We did the paperwork. He kept his promise on sale pricing and discounts. We walked out of the store happy. He also arranged the COI with our building. He promised a delivery on Friday between 1:45 pm and 3:45..... the delivery people came at 2:30. Great guys, brought the mattress, helped us with slip cover and took our old mattress and box spring. We love the mattress and are very happy with the entire process. Shopping at Craig's is an experience. A very New York City experience…read more Having previously purchased a mattress online and having to return it because I hated it, I didn't want to go through that experience again. I stopped by a few mattress shops in the city, but they were very small and many just carried the major online brands that were non-traditional mattresses (memory foam, no coils). A google search brought me to Craig's: a lot of glowing Yelp reviews, Google reviews, and a New Yorker article describing this "speakeasy" mattress shop. Given that Craig's is located right by my office, I made an appointment online. As others have mentioned, be prepared that Craig's is located on the second floor of an office building and that your appointment will be 1:1. Craig will ask you what kind of mattress you like, cut a piece of cloth for you, and place it on various mattresses as you try them. You never feel rushed or pressured. He IS chatty, so be prepared for that too. I tried many mattresses and ultimately found a mattress that I liked and placed an order (the first one that he showed me!). Fast forward to the day before delivery. I had told Craig I was moving in the morning and would need the mattress to come after noon, but when I got my delivery window it was the first one in the morning. He called the delivery company and they wanted to schedule it for the evening, but he correctly pointed out that because I was in a doorman building they might not let the delivery people up in the evening. He gave me two options: he would go meet them at my building in the morning and let them in OR he would come in the evening and help bring it up to my apartment if they wouldn't let the delivery people up. What? This is a crazy level of service. He also must have spent an hour on the phone between talking to me and the delivery company trying to figure this all out. It turned out my building was able to let them in without Craig being present, but his wilingness to go so far and beyond will not be forgotten by me!

He advised us to go to Macy's which has the best selection. He never pressured us to buy. We did go to Macy's plus one other store but ultimately decided that Craig had the best bed for the best price. We appreciated the time he took and the no-pressure approach. We now have our new bed and are totally thrilled with it. I highly recommend Craig as he knows his stuff and gives you the time and space to comfortably come to a decision.

AVOID!! Poor installers and poor communication. This company is old and very disorganized. 116…read moreyears of reliability? NOPE. I ordered an AC unit on July 28. I paid for installation $195 and the installers didn't install the rear grill which apparently is a vital piece for this unit to work properly. For a month we were dealing with an AC unit that would blow cold air for 5min then just regular air. My smart plug told me, we paid over $100 just for that device. It took weeks to get a diagnosis, and the another week to get the part that the initial installers didn't take out of the box. On PC Richards 2nd attempt to install the missing part, that person came hours after the expected time at which point he could not install it. Now I have to wait again and take time off work dealing with this hot summer and no AC. Ultimately, we found someone else an extra $200 to install it correctly. For almost a month now, we were dealing with an AC unit that would blow cold air for 5min then just regular air. David Danon was the primary point of contact. He was nice initially so I decided to get the unit and give him the credit for the sale. I probably been on the phone with him over 10 times and he stopped being helpful. I'll likely never buy from this store again. Go with Home Depot or Best Buy and save yourself the headache when buying major appliances.

This is now the third time that the delivery notes and instructions have not been properly communicated or followed. I have made it very clear that I needed my furniture delivered on a specific date and at a specific time, and yet somehow the information continues to be incorrect or completely overlooked. At this point, I am extremely frustrated. I should not have to repeatedly explain the same delivery instructions or spend my time correcting information that should have been properly documented in the first place. After already dealing with issues on multiple occasions, I expected that the notes would finally be accurate and that the delivery would go smoothly. Unfortunately, that was not the case. A delivery should not be this difficult. Customers should be able to provide a date, time, and specific instructions and trust that those details will actually make it to the delivery team. Instead, I have had to deal with repeated miscommunication, wasted time, and unnecessary stress. I am extremely disappointed with how this has been handled and would like this issue escalated to someone who can actually ensure that my delivery instructions are correctly documented and followed. I shouldn't be paying for this type of product and service. You should be paying me to take your products and deal with this incompetency!

First mattress fro Futonland was satisfactory but it was all memory foam, as these mattress was new. It did last 10 years but had it for 12 years. Otis mattress, HALEY 110 is what I dreamed about for years. The depth (8-10 inches), is for real whereas I sit or lie down while I am way above as if I had a box spring underneath the futon frame. I don't need to struggle anymore off the futon. I can't even describe what it is like to sleep on it...!!! You can't any better than the best mattress for a bed itself. The firmness and depth is so powerful, while trying to fold the mattress onto frame, I thought the mattress was another model because I couldn't get it to fold. But I folded the side which was already folded in the box which made it easier, tried the other side again and both sides folded onto futon frame. I hope my description is understood. Kept mattress on floor for 48 hours, flipped on 24 hour time period, to let the mattress expand. On the folded side in the box, I had to place weighted laundry baskets and other items on two other sides for the mattress to completely touch the floor evenly. Mission accomplished. I purchased the mattress through email communication, instead of the in-store although I live in NY. The service online was excellent service, professional and last time I bought mattress in store, I noticed phone conversation & online service was a way for their business. So near or far - you can business with them and Futonland seems to be the only real store still in business for futon mattresses or frames, etc.
