I reached back out to revise the scope of work down to only two projects. Surprisingly, the updated quote for two projects ended up being more expensive than the original quote for all three. When I questioned the pricing, I was told the original pricing was only lower because the work had been "bundled." A few days before the scheduled appointment, I asked whether it would be possible to push the work back by one day due to a busy client schedule at our business. He declined and instead suggested an entirely different date that worked better for him, which delayed the project even further from the original timeline. We agreed in an effort to remain flexible. He later requested a deposit, which was understandable. However, because this was for our business, I requested a detailed written quote and W-9 form so our accounting department could properly process payment. Despite multiple requests, he was unable to provide the documentation needed, and communication became increasingly delayed and inconsistent. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable moving forward and decided to cancel the project. His response afterward was extremely unprofessional, to the point where I ultimately blocked further communication. We ended up hiring another handyman who completed the same work professionally and for nearly 50% less than his quoted pricing. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this handyman to other business owners looking for professionalism, transparency, and reliable communication.

I had an extremely poor experience with Albert Martin. We recently had a flood in our house and…read moreneeded someone to paint walls, ceilings and install baseboards. His workmanship was extremely poor, and he lacked the necessary skills, ability, and attention to detail required for the job. There was paint overspray on my door knobs and floors; paint drips on my sink and countertops, footprints of paint throughout my house, and paint splatter on the trim. He was unable to complete a toilet installation without my husband's correction and direction, which showed that he lacked the knowledge and experience necessary to complete the job that he stated he was qualified for. While attempting to install the new toilet, he left a huge burn mark on the finish from the sparks from his grinding wheel. After he left for the night, we noticed he had not even tightened the tank to the base. He also managed to break over half of the vertical blinds on our bedroom window, which we hadn't noticed until after we kicked him out. It is clear that he has no business acting as a handyman or contractor. When we pointed out the problem areas and asked him to fix the issues, he said that he would put a lien on our house as if we were not going to pay him. We have absolutely no problem paying for a job in full, but we expect the work to be finished without drip marks and crooked lines. Overall, I strongly advise against hiring Albert Martin for home improvement projects. We fired him halfway through the job to stop further unnecessary repairs. Save yourself the hassle and look elsewhere for a skilled handyman.
