I view this is refusal of access to care. I loved Dr. Wong, his bedside manner, and his procedural techniques. I am a R.an. And have worked in pain management with many physicians and he is one of the best ever. His staff, however, are just the rudest, nastiest people ever. I sent so many patients to that practice because of Dr. Wong's reputation. Now I question his attitude. The fact that he would not speak with me by phone or in person is preposterous. I am very disappointed in him for not having the consideration to even speak with me. I worked 47 years as a nurse and with many personalities but must say that this practice attitudes is beyond appropriate. Had I ever treated a patient as I was treated and others say the same; I would have been relieved of my position. Pain management is a racket. They treat people any way they please because the bottom line is the almighty dollar with them. They have no empathy or compassion for people in pain. You spend maximum 4-5 minutes every visit unless you are having a procedure and even that time is cut short. It is like herding cattle and quite frankly, cattle are probably treated better. The reason for my dismissal was not because I broke the rules but because the Nurse Practitioner was having a bad day. She was not accurate in my medical records but documented in a manner to get me out of the practice because she has been rude to me every visit since I started seeing them over 2 years ago. It bothers her that I too am a nurse and have the same knowledge as she. She is a control person and thinks her knowledge is superior to everyone else's. And wait time is another issue... if you are 3 minutes late she will cancel you but if you have to wait up to an hour for her, that is perfectly ok. It was a brilliant group of medical people who invented the Pain Management Specialty. They certainly secured their jobs forever. My question is what about the VICTIM(patient)? I use the term VICTIM because no one person should have the control they have. Yes, there are addicts and drug seekers but they are eventually weeded out. The people who truly need pain management must suffer because of those who are just seeking drugs. It is very disconcerting. I am finished venting and I would not recommend them because pain relief and caring for people really are not their mission. The main mission is the bottom line $$$$$$.
