My 500th review?! How the time flies! Excited to be writing this one for Big Oak Driving Range,…read morewhere my partner and I stopped by yesterday evening for some swinging and MISSING. I love this place! The staff was so kind, and while it was BUSY yesterday, people move in and out at a steady clip so we had no problem finding a tee to get set up on. Everything is really well maintained and there's ZERO pretentious vibes, which I really appreciated as a beginner. You don't have to wear a fancy outfit, sneakers are perfectly fine, and there's golfers of all levels and abilities. Really nice! They also offer classes, and I think we're going to take one of their group offerings over the summer. We went with a large bucket to split for $16, and got in about 40 minutes of golf fun. I think the prices are pretty reasonable and I appreciate the large parking lot. A lot of sales inside if you're looking for any kind of gear! Wearables, carts, clubs, AND they do club fittings. The shop itself is a little old school and run down, but so is golf, so it is on brand. I never thought I would find myself interested in golf (my parents are both big golfers) but I actually find myself really enjoying it. I am looking forward to continuing my golf journey and many more trips to Big Oaks in the future!

The place was okay but play was WAY to slow. After waiting on every hole, the front nine took us 3…read morehours. When I then told the pro shop that I would rather take a rain check for the back nine since we didn't have 6 hours to play golf I was told there was nothing they could do because it wasn't raining. That is really a poor reaction to a golf course that was overbooked on a Saturday morning with people new to the game.

If you're looking for a high intensity, group fitness class, join Victor Crossfit!…read more I moved to Rochester last year and by the time I started settling in, I felt like I needed to get in a routine in terms of my health and wellbeing. That's when Victor Crossfit came in. I had been trying to find a small gym with a focus on group workout (think boot camp style) for a few months before I saw an ad to try Victor Crossfit for 3 weeks at a reduced price. I figured minimal investment of time and money, so if I didn't like it, I wouldn't be locked into a long membership. That was in March, and now entering October, I still go weekly. Lance, Chelsea, Megan, and, Caitlin have creative an environment where you want to go in and work hard. Everyone is super supportive of each other, and the workout, at any level, will push you. The coaches always have scaled versions of a workout so that people will get a great sweat on no matter if they've been coming for 10 years or 1 week. I was never a fan of weights or developing huge muscles but seeing myself improve over time and get stronger, I wanted to keep pushing myself to get to the next weight. You'll feel this way too! The coaches don't force you to use higher weights but they will challenge you to push harder when they see you're going to easy. It's encouraging! I can't recommend this place enough!

Great box. Probably what makes this so great are the people…read more They welcome you in and truly care. It won't be long before you start seeing positive results, get stronger, and make some friends who all want to support and encourage you to get better along the way. CrossFit can be intimidating and often the people doing CrossFit can be even more so. This is a box where you dont have to worry about that. People check their egos at the door here. Coaches are great. They push you but don't overdo it. I came in 6 months ago at 255 lbs, herniated discs in my back, and doctors telling me I'd never lift weights over my head again. I've had to check my own ego, go wicked slow, and just keep showing up. Often the weights I do are well below the prescribed workout but I've gotten stronger and better and proven the doctors wrong. It's all about just showing up and getting a great workout. I'd highly recommend just making the call, and changing your life for the better. All you have to do is show up. Funny thing is that after a few weeks you really start to crave going. It gets addictive!
