Specialties
Every morning before I talk to anyone, I spend ten minutes understanding exactly what happened to mortgage rates overnight and why. I subscribe to MBS Highway for bond market data and follow the Cromford Report to track what is actually happening in Phoenix real estate. Most people who call a loan officer are getting an opinion. I want to make sure mine is an informed one. That habit — staying current, doing the homework before the conversation starts — is the foundation of how I work.
What I care most about is the person sitting across from me who came in thinking homeownership wasn't an option for them. That moment when it turns out it is — that's the job. I also moderate two monthly real estate mastermind groups here in the Valley, which keeps me connected to what Realtors, investors, and buyers are actually experiencing on the ground. Thirty years in this business has taught me that one transaction is never worth your integrity, and that the families I've had the privilege of serving deserve straight answers, not a sales pitch.
History
Established in 2003.
I came to the mortgage industry in 2003, after spending several years in sales work that paid the bills but never felt like the right fit. I had found a degree of success in a couple of other industries, but nothing compared to what I felt the first time I helped someone close on a home they weren't sure they could afford. I was raised in a family that believed in serving others and staying curious, so an industry built around one of the most meaningful decisions a person will ever make turned out to be exactly where I was supposed to land. After spending roughly twenty years working with retail lenders and learning the business from the inside out, I found the right home for my practice at Forward Loans. Their mortgage marketplace gives me access to competitive rates and a wide range of loan products — which means I can pair what I know with what they offer, and actually put together the right solution for the person in front of me, not just the easiest one.
Meet the Manager: Matt L.
I'm an Arizona mortgage loan officer, and since 2003 I've helped families buy homes, refinance, and work through loan scenarios that take more patience than most lenders are willing to give. Every morning, before my first call, I spend about ten minutes understanding what happened to mortgage rates overnight and why — so when you ask me a question, I'm giving you my informed opinion, not a guess. I moderate two monthly real estate mastermind groups here in the Phoenix metro and follow local market data through the Cromford Report, so what I'm telling you reflects what is actually happening in Arizona real estate. The part of this work that stays with me is the first-time homebuyer who came in convinced they couldn't qualify — and did. If you are buying a home in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Chandler, Gilbert, or anywhere else in the Valley, my job is straightforward: make sure you understand your options, know what the numbers mean, and feel good about the decision you're making.
