Sandbanks Vacations - Tour Prince Edward County in our Limo bus

    Sandbanks Vacations

We rented for a weekend and took a Saturday wine tour. Really great all around. The rental was…read morereasonable in price and exceeded expectations - very pretty yard, spacious house, and a great bottle of local wine in the fridge as a welcome present. Wine tour was great with John who had a great sense of humour and was very knowledgeable about the area. Wineries picks were great - a variety of big and small and all were very friendly. Great all around experience - would definitely consider coming back and bringing others to see more of Prince Edward County!

A little overdue on this. We did the wine tour back in early May…read more We booked a wine tour for a group of girls for a bachelorette. Book early, fills up fast! We were able to book for max of 6. Others could have gone in a different vehicle, but we all wanted to be together. - They were approx. 20min late picking us up (but they were able to pick us up and drop back off at our airbnb location which was awesome). It was a difficult location to find so I can't fault them too much on that, and they ended up making up for it with an awesome wine tour and taking us to an extra location since we went through them quite fast (probably because it was rainy and terrible weather, so we got a lot of the wineries to ourselves). - I was disappointed that they picked us up in a mini-van. I thought it was going to be a little more roomy like the photo of the small bus on the other review, so it kind of changed the "party" mood. - Wine tour guide was awesome- fun and very personable. -Great locations and we bought a ton of wine (would love to do again in better weather so we can really enjoy the vineyards). Overall I would recommend, but the whole mini van thing bummed me out. Made me feel as if we could just have had one of the hubbies drive us around.

Beers were: Fast Eddie light, Blond, Cream ale & So many friends here. Flights are a great way to try a selection of beers. I loved the dark brew...but I love full bodied beers. The brewery has food which is awesome. Arvy's Street eats serves a variety of tacos. Since I won't be back I tried them all. I got the Birria tacos, the tandoori chicken and the Chana Masala tostado. The food was amazing. I think my favourite was the Chana Masala Tostado. The spice level and flavours was on point! After a long hike this morning this was definitely worth the atop

BOTTOM LINE: Come for the beer, stay for the volleyball…read more A lot of folks come to PEC for the wine, but personally, I'm glad that there's increasingly more beer and liquor selections here. Prince Eddy's is a great spot just off the main streets of Picton that serves some great beer. There's plenty of outdoor seating with umbrellas to keep you cool. There's a purpose-built stage for live performances. There's a current (?pop-up) resto called Slight Peppa that serves some Caribbean fusion snacks and dishes [I didn't get a chance to try this but it smelled pretty good!]. And of course, did I mention the beach volleyball court?! And now onto the beer! Obviously, not having tried everything they offered, I don't want to over-generalize, but the beers I had all trended towards light and refreshing, instead of heavy and strong in flavours. So basically, great summer beers. And great labels (I'm a sucker for good design)! Chiller Instinct (Dry Hopped Sour): I've always been a bit suspect of beers trying to do too much, but because most of the flavours are subtle, I found this worked really well, and may have been my fave! C.R.E.A.M. Ale: Smooth and a bit sweet. So Many Friends (Session NE IPA): A crisp IPA with a citrusy and floral flavours. I've never seen their stuff in the LCBO, but hopefully they'll make it big enough to get there. Otherwise, I wouldn't hesitate to order directly from them.

What a great end to an already great day in Prince Edward County…read more We came for dinner after being delighted by the vinegars at Black Prince Winery and the liquors at Kinsip Spirits. FYI the gps took us to a collection of buildings called The Warehouse which contains a fancy lodge, a reception area, and a few other things. This restaurant is located past/behind the Reception building and immediately adjacent to the Cookery. Perhaps because of the hot weather and perhaps because it was a Monday night, there was almost no one there and we got the pick of any of the dining areas they offered (garden area, dining room, bar, standard, and patio). We opted for the patio and enjoyed being the only ones there even though it was a bit warm. Seriously, this place is huge and can probably accommodate 100 tables or more despite it looking like a cute, ivy-covered, European-inspired cottage. We opted for the Crispy Chicken Sandwhich and the Fish and Chips plus a beer (Parson's Westy Pale Ale). Our server was so sweet, bubbly, and helpful. I wish I could remember her name but she had long dark hair worn back in a ponytail. She knew a lot about the menu, including the sweets, and helped us choose the Coconut Cream Pie for dessert. The food itself was delicious! Chicken in the CCS was sweet and tangy with great texture and crisp, and the sandwhich was really well balanced with the pickles and slaw. I love me some spice, so I would have opted for a spicy sauce over a sweet one, but it was still a great sandwhich. The house salad it came with was yummy too--greens, cucumbers, and carrots with pepitas and a creamy apple cider dressing. I didn't try the fried fish in the FnC, but SO said it was pretty good. The fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned with flaked sea salt. The Coconut Cream Pie was excellent. The pie filling was light and creamy and not super sweet, and the crust was definitely homemade graham cracker with a lot of extra sweetness to complement the light filling. I must say it wasn't the best CCP I have ever had (Tartine in San Francisco makes one simply out of this world) but it was still really nice. Overall, great experience and will return.

Luckily I found Littlejohn Farm offers wine tours via a Google search. I sent an email via their website and Luhana contacted me in response within a few minutes. She was so lovely via our email conversations and super accommodating (we wanted to go and visit a brewery instead of one of the wineries and we also had a few food related restrictions for some of the girls in our group). She picked us up at our AirBnB rental in Brighton, ON (far from her farm!) and drove us around all day in a nice SUV with plenty of air conditioning, room, and water. We stopped at Hillier Winery, Traynor Wines, Hinterland Wines, the Prince Edward Lavender farm (where we had an incredible picnic - more on that later!), Clauson Chase winery, then finally Midtown Brewing as our last stop. Luhana waited for us patiently at each place and never made us feel rushed. Luhana prepared us the most epic picnic lunch I have ever seen - we were totally spoiled!! She made fresh salads with gardens from her farm, local award winning cheeses, local charcuterie, home made sauces, fresh baguette, along with pickles made at her farm. It was absolutely heavenly!! We also had an opportunity to chat with Luhana as she shared the story of how her and her husband came to own Littlejohn Farm. We had an unforgettable day and cannot thank Luhana enough. Highly highly recommend!! Looking forward to staying at the farm someday!!

My three friends and I had the best day with Luhana who toured us around to The Old Third, Closson Chase, The Grange, Traynor, and By Chadsey Cairins. Being from Niagara, we were truly amazed by the rural feel of the area and all of the beautiful barns used as wineries. Luhana was the perfect tour guide- she was friendly and chatty in the car but also gave us some space while we tried the wines at each place. The picnic lunch that she prepared for us was heavenly. There was cheddar and chive biscuits, an assortment of cheeses, meat, sauces, and a delicious blueberry galette. We felt like the luckiest girls in the world! We were so pleased with our experience with Luhana and all of the people who served us wine at each winery we went to. Everyone made us feel so welcome. We will definitely be back to do a sourdough bread workshop soon! Thanks again Luhana!
