Since I forgot to add it in last time, instead of accepting fault and trying to learn from their mistakes by accepting the review they deserved, the CEO offered a "monetary solution" to adjust my review. To which I responded, you can provide me a monetary solution but I am not changing my review. Now for a current update 2/3/2020 (two weeks after initial work was done) Because of this companies inability to listen, they are still causing issues for me. I had a hole in my bathroom wall from a broken sink ripped off the wall by other contractors. I specifically told Matrix's CEO Ryan, and his guys, not to patch it up, but paint around it, as the contractors coming right fix it will need to do it. They patched it up anyways, like it was some favor for me. Today the contractors came out to install the sink and they couldn't because they couldn't see how the wall was supported. Now they'll have to come out at a later date to put a hole in the wall to install the proper support, since they couldn't see it from being patched up by Matrix. Matrix wasted theirs and my time by doing that, and now wasting my money because I have to take off more work. read more

We have a home in N. Carolina that we rent out however we live in California. We were not happy with our property management company that was doing a very poor job on repairs and charging through the roof. I looked on yelp for direction and found Matrix. From Ryan's attentiveness and follow through with pictures and detailed calls, I knew he was the way to go. Ryan is a very laid back no pressure person. He was always professional, provided many before, during and after pictures. He listened to my concerns from being across the country and hesitant to trust someone we never met with our house especially with all of the junk from Long and foster (the rental agency). Ryan was extremely easy to work with. He provided good staining suggestions for the deck when we were unsure. And it came out beautifully. We also had him do the front porch and pressure wash the house. We will be using him every year for pressure washing and any other jobs that he can do. He is an honest person. Absolutely no pressure at all which I appreciated. And he did an AMAZING job! I was going to post before pictures but I don't want someone to mistake them for his work so the pictures I'm providing are from Ryan's work. Recently, Matrix Painting painted the exterior of our rental house in Durham. The house needed some carpentry work for rotten wood and also needed two decks stained. The finished work was absolutely beautiful. Ryan and his crew brought the house back to life. This is the second home that Ryan and his company have painted for us. We have been impressed each time. Ryan is on time, he responds quickly to correspondence, has alot of knowledge and good ideas about paints and stains, and his prices beat any of the other quotes! Found Ryan and crew thru Yelp. One of three companies that came out to quote us for multiple rooms in our new home, his was most reasonable , timely and included the paint. Selena was a fantastic crew leader the three days they were in our home and communicated consistently, carefully working around our family of four - living and working at home while they were there. Ryan and his crew (including Humberto, who was great!) did an excellent job painting my 2 story half cedar half brick home. Ryan came out within a few days of me sending an email and provided a detailed quote that was competitive with other bids we received. He started work shortly after we received his quote and the job was pretty much done within a week! The paint looked amazing and he thought of details such as small trim within the windows and the front steps that I had not thought of prior to talking to him. This review is based on my experience with the owner Ryan Critoria. My wife and I just bought our first home and were looking to get the house painted. We scheduled an appointment with Ryan to get a quote for paint services. We had already gotten a few other quotes from other paint companies that were dramatically cheaper, but Ryan seemed very professional and made us feel like we would be getting the best possible paint service in the area. We booked with Ryan feeling like we were going in the right direction to get our Kitchen and Bedroom painted in our first home. The paint crew was fine but some things didn't seem like they were done correctly in my kitchen. The job seemed rushed and it was. I called Ryan and asked him if he could come out to take a look at the kitchen to make sure he could let his team know what needed to be done to get the job completed. My wife and I are not professionals when it came to assessing the paint job, that's what the project manager is supposed to do but there were obvious errors in the paintjob. Ryan said there was no need for him to come back out because he could just send his crew back out to fix the problems. He said I could send him pictures instead. I would have felt more comfortable with him coming back to take a look at it so we could have discussed exactly what the finished product should look like. This was the first sign in him showing us he did not care about us being completely happy with the finished product. He only cared about getting our money. I sent him the pictures and Selena came back to fix the problems we had a few days later. I get the invoice from him and I paid it the same day he sent it to me from my savings account. A few days later I get an e-mail from him saying the payment couldn't be processed because my bank would not allow a transaction out of my savings account. He said he would be adding a $10 check return fee to the invoice. I asked him if he could take the $10 off of the original balance because it was a simple error and I would transfer the funds to my checking account and pay the balance that day. He said he could not because it wasn't his fault the bank blocked the transaction and he wasn't trying to nickel and dime me over $10 but he refused to adjust the balance. Again, this was him letting us know he did not appreciate our business. We spent $2,860 with Ryan on a kitchen and a bedroom. It was never about the $10 for us. We just got a vinyl fence installed for thousands of dollars and received 5-star service from Index Fencing. We just wanted to be appreciated as customers, as anyone would who work hard for their money. We did not receive a 5-star service from Ryan, as his company does not deserve a 5-star rating. He never even asked if we were completely satisfied with the final product after Selena came back and cleaned up the errors. I don't think he really cared. I can't speak on anybody else's experience with him. Maybe they were treated better, but we will not be doing any business in the future with Matrix Painting. Reviews on Angie's List are synonymous with our experience. read more
