Hi All, if you're on here you're probably trying to figure out if you should consider/trust/go with The Matloff Company to help broker your insurance. I'll keep it short since my sentiments are shared by many other positive Yelp reviews already. My wife and I have worked with Alex for the past few years. He is thorough, patient, informative, resourceful, on-top-of-it(is that a thing? yes). We did most of our communication via email and only occasionally needed to speak on the phone when it just made more sense with some back and forth questions. This year, we are actually going with a policy via my company. Not b/c of anything Alex couldn't get for us, it just made more sense since some things are harder to obtain if not part of a company shared-plan. I'll spare the details. Here's an example of why I decided to go onto Yelp and write this review. Even though we are not proceeding with Alex and Matloff to broker our insurance this year, he continued to provide support and customer service. How? We hadn't cancelled the old policy in time before the charge hit our account. I let Alex know and he contacted the insurance company and requested a refund check. Reminder: we had already let him know a few days prior that we were not needing insurance through him for 2017. In case that's not clear what he was doing... he was taking care of us STILL! Anyway. Alex is awesome. Insurance is a pain in the butt and hopefully rarely needed. But Alex Kim makes it as painless as possible. read more

My agent, Alex Kim, is the best insurance agent I have ever worked with. Both my daughter and I have had individual health plans and no matter what issue comes up, Alex nails it. There isn't a better agent in Los Angeles. Matloff Insurance is top notch. read more

Alex Kim is the most informed, honest, thorough and helpful person I have ever worked with in the health insurance business. After my wife got laid off (meaning our family would lose our corporate coverage), we contacted many different agencies and companies to try to get new coverage that was both comprehensive and affordable. Every company gave us ridiculously high prices, lots of misinformation, and even the agencies themselves gave us incorrect information. It was very frustrating and stressful - until we were referred to Alex by a friend. Alex spent quite a long time on the phone and computer with us over the course of a few calls, and by the end of the week, he led us to the promised land! We were actually able to afford the Blue Cross PPO policy that we wanted, thanks to Alex! He even helped us submit our application correctly so that we would get all the benefits we were entitled to. What a huge relief! We highly recommend Alex Kim and Matloff Insurance! THANK YOU ALEX! YOU ARE A TRUE GENTLEMAN AND WE REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR HONEST AND THOROUGH ASSISTANCE. read more

Alex is incredible! I spent several weeks on my own trying to navigate the nightmare that is picking an insurance plan. He explained everything clearly and made feel very confident and informed. read more

I've been trying to get my son medical insurance for a long time, and Alex Kim really helped educate me in plain English which plan would be best for my son. He was patient, knowledgeable, polite and thorough. He really listens and explained the process and different options. And it's important to know there's no charge for the service. Highly recommend them. read more

I have spent several years working with the Matloff team for my personal health insurance needs. I started dealing with Elliott, then Jackie, and now Alex. Everyone is always really helpful when you call- and often know you by name. Alex and I have been working together exclusively for over 2 years. It began when i was being booted off my dad's insurance plan...and needed a solution. Alex and I had to be in very regular communication for more than a month (for me to gather all my patient records from several different Dr's in several different cities to recreate the last ten years of health history. ) The application process was so time consuming and exhausting- obviously starting in 1/2014 it won't be such a process anymore, but I found myself so incredibly grateful that Alex was there to help decipher what the heck I was supposed to be doing. I just got off the phone with Alex, who wanted me to have plenty of notice that my plan is no longer being offered for 2014. I have a big decision to make- new provider? new plans? higher deductible now? better monthly rates? All of this and more was explained in exceptional detail. I know that there is no hidden agenda with Alex- he lays everything out in the open- and makes sure you understand ALL of your options- not just the ones that are the most expensive. So happy with Alex and the whole Matloff Company. I highly recommend exploring your options with this company. read more

So...anyone who's read any of my reviews for other businesses know that a fifth star from me? That means a company, restaurant, serviceperson, or whomever wayyy exceeded the level of competence generally expected. Understanding insurance is really tough as we all know and Alex here made all the different plan options so much easier to understand. He was patient with my bazillion questions, suggested ways to save regardless whether it meant going through Matloff specifically or not. You'll feel so much clearer and less exhausted by all the rules, copays, if-this-than-that if you call them to buy. Plus -- and I didn't know this until he told me -- it does not cost us extra to do medical insurance through an agent. So yeah, you're really missing out on some good help and peace of mind, if you don't call people like Alex and Eliot to set up your medical, dental and stuff. That's the most valuable thing I got so far to share. read more

Alex Kim straightened out my insurance mess in a flash. I had received janky advice from Blue Shield's own rep and couldn't see my regular doctor. Alex navigated me through the cesspool of confusion and frustration and I emerged victorious with the proper coverage. So fast and extremely competent. Kudos, sir! read more

This agency is the absolute best! Elliot Matloff is terrific. I mainly work with Alex Kim and this man is a genius at negotiating the insurance system. He takes the horror out of dealing with the nightmare bureaucracy that is insurance. He has all the answers and if he doesn't he finds them. He is always calm , kind, and supportive. What a pleasure to have this firm of intelligent knowledgeable professionals behind you to sort out the complicated insurance system. ALEX IS AMAZING!! This guy always goes the extra yard battling the health care armies for us poor little consumers. A really great ally to have on your side! My wife is part of a small firm that uses Matloff for insurance on their 3 person little staff. I'm not even a client of his, just associated with my wife's policy, but he got me hooked up on my own insurance and is now battling out a billing error with my health care provider for me as we speak! Really excellent customer service with no fees going to him - very impressive in today's cut throat world!! read more

They have been our firm's health insurance agents for years and Alex goes above and beyond to provide help and assistance with every question and issue we have. Matloff Insurance Company has my highest recommendation if you are looking for any type of insurance. The staff I've worked with (Alex, Elliott, Jackie) are very helpful, and their followup is excellent. I had a complex situation needing health insurance for my elderly mother. They did the necessary research, explained possible options, and helped me through the application process to come up with a viable solution. Their professional knowledge helps me through the confusing maze of insurance products, and I'm impressed with their impeccable service. read more

THESE GUYS ARE ROCK STARS. Exemplary Customer Service like this just doesn't exist anymore. Absolutely the single most calming force I have found in an unnervingly complicated industry. My cousin works for a boutique law firm and Matloff handles their company insurance. She recommended Alex to me some years ago by saying, "I think he's the only one in America who has actually read the entirety of the new Health Care Law." Funny; but it spoke to how shockingly informed he was about how it all works, the subtle differences between this plan and that, the shifts and read-between-the-lines things that can easily slip past less educated eyes. It started with a meeting where I voiced all my concerns, needs, current frustrations, financial preferences, etc. Insurance has been the bane of my existence because I am a freelance contractor with 2 kids and a hubs who has had inconsistent insurance options. Alex listened to everything. He presented me with plan options across companies. He confirmed which of my doctors were in or out of which networks. He explained coverages and sat patiently while I explored "what-ifs." He made subtle recommendations without being leading. He asked great questions and suggested I consider things I hadn't even thought of. He followed up with me when I left. He applied to the plans for me. He reached out with updates on the process. Still, when I'm trying to figure out if someone is in or out of network, I email him because he is so freaking knowledgable, capable and available. My daughter needed a surgery in November, and the way Alex set us up had her covered in a way that made it totally manageable for us financially - and she got all the medical attention she needed. A different plan would have made it a financial disaster. Or one where we would have had to wait months to see certain specialists. I am SO grateful, everyday, for Alex's expertise and sound guidance. Our financial and medical health was so well managed by his efforts that I can finally be confident we're covered in a way that makes sense. It's a huge burden, relieved. I had such a great experience with Alex that I ended up getting my life insurance through Elliot (of Elliot Matloff.) He came TO MY HOUSE to fill out the application with me, and it was similar. Here's what I need, here's what I'm concerned about - have you thought about this - here's the best plan, and boom. Done. They are proactive and old school. Looking out for their customers FOR REAL. And they know their field inside and out. This is my 3rd year with them. I recommend everyone I can. Whatever it is I would need to say in order for you to call them and do business with them, imagine I just said it because you don't want to miss the opportunity. Give yourself the gift of working with these guys, period. read more

I've been with Matloff for two decades; they have always provided expert guidance and extraordinary customer service. Elliot, Alex, and Jackie have always acted in my family's best interest, securing excellent, affordable coverage for everyone in my extended family. Last year, they guided my transition to an optimal Medicare/Blue Shield coverage plan. This year when my medications changed after a major surgery, they switched my prescription drug plan, which will save me more than $3000 next year on my medications alone. My sincerest thanks and respect to Alex, Jackie, and Elliot. I highly recommend the Matloff Agency. Mark read more

I've had a great experience with Matloff so far. I'm a new client of theirs and they're treating me as if I have been with them for decades. Most notably, they are personally going to bat for me with my insurance company over issues that they could just as well have told me I need to deal with myself. This has saved me lots of valuable time and provided less stress for me. Also, their knowledge about insurance companies, their policies, and the ins and outs of the new marketplace & Obamacare made me so glad I have an ally in this confusing industry. read more

I had a question about the many confusing Blue Shield policies. So confusing that Blue Shield's rep could not provide a knowledgeable answer. I called Alex Kim based on his many five-star Yelp reviews and the bad news for me is that the type of policy I'm interested in is not available to me. BUT, Alex is so knowledgeable and so helpful -- just a good guy -- that even after he knew he couldn't sell me anything, he continued to patiently and thoroughly answer my questions. If he's this good when there's no chance of you becoming a client, I can understand why his clients have all given him five stars. read more

Alex Kim at Matloff is a godsend. I don't know without Alex and Matloff Insurance how I would have navigated my healthcare, the Covered California website let alone got all my questions answered. I've been with Matloff Insurance on and off since 2009. I rarely write a review, but as I've relied heavily on consumer user reviews more and more these days, it was about time that I write one so others can benefit. I've had amazing experiences with both Alex and Jackie. I signed with a new coverage for 2016 and have had some unpleasant issues with them from the get-go. Jackie helped me resolve my months long issue with the insurance company. She stayed on top of them with the issue and made sure that they were prioritizing my case. The issue has been resolved, but 6 months later (due to the internal errors of the insurance company). My case would not have received the attention that it did without Jackie's involvement and support as I kept getting different answers every time I called. In any case, Jackie made navigating the insurance battlefield much more bearable. I definitely recommend them. read more
