For me, this is a big plus as it has made their teachers and content more credible in a world of unreliable tutors who typically post their vague tutoring services on Craigslist (I know you've all been there). It's been really nice to call North Avenue Education 6 months after my exam and ask for some quick advice. The tutors never forget you and are always willing to lend a helping hand. A few pieces of constructive feedback: - Have a little bit of cushion in between sessions, so that you have time to review notes before a session or in the event your previous session runs over - Have both a structured and more free-flowing option when tutoring in english and writing. While these sessions were useful for me, I found them challenging at times, because I felt my instructor was trying to apply a tutoring methodology that didn't work for me. Be flexible! - Have open study space and/or office hours (which they do now, so yay! I am very excited about this.) All in all, I give North Avenue a 5 despite the feedback above, because I am really impressed with how much they care and want to improve their services. Before Brian, everyone we met with was rigid, teaching to the test and frankly, off-putting. In our first meeting with Brian, we were immediately put at ease. His education/background matched with his experience and understanding of teenagers gave us so much confidence. His philosophy is simple, "If we work together, your student will do better on the SAT but, more importantly, he'll be a more confident, successful student. He'll be ready for college." This, I realized, was really what I wanted and it's happening! My son and Brian have had sessions twice a week for about 2 months and the change is so significant. I cannot recommend him enough! From the very beginning all they wanted to talk about was the payments and how much it was going to cost they didn't seem concerned with offering up any information about how the school runs. It felt like an extremely rushed process Focus was always around money. The intake person that we dealt with did not seem like she was that interested. Acted bothered by my questions almost. While we were in there the place seemed very disorganized. They claim to have a maximum of three students per teacher but they're all lumped into one noisy room. One of the main reasons I chose this place was because of its overwhelming reviews but now that I know that those reviews are bought and paid for and after my initial experience we chose to go a different route.
