If you are like me and feel like math is just something that you'll never "get", it is time to give Danielle a call. From the first time you meet with Danielle, it will be clear to you that you are not in for the usual math learning experience. She is cool, laid back and has a great sense of humor, which means everything to someone like me with major math anxiety. Furthermore, you will NEVER feel stupid working with Danielle; She is the poster child of patience, laughing it off, trying to explain it another way and helping you work through whatever mental roadblock you're hitting. If you had told me a few months ago that I would actually look FORWARD to learning math, I just couldn't have believed it, because I never even thought learning math was something I was capable of. But now? Working through problems all by myself while Danielle watches on and silently nods in approval. Getting 100% on EVERY homework assignment. No joke. Danielle has literally worked miracles for me. Oh, and did I mention how ridiculously affordable her services are? When I began searching for tutors, I was getting quotes in the $55-$65/hour range, and I actually contemplated it because, well, more money means they must be REALLY awesome, right? Don't be a sucker- Danielle is the best bang for your buck. I could go on forever singing her praises, because frankly, she deserves it and I just don't know where I would be without her. Actually, I do know- probably homeless under a bridge somewhere because I decided I would just never finish college because of the stupid math requirement. But seriously. If you, your kids, your brother or your dog* are looking for a math tutor, your search can just stop here. *She might not actually be able to tutor a dog. But really, how is your dog in school anyway?

A business person in the Linden Hills area suggested we check with Learning Designs as he knew Karen and thought she might be able to help us. I was actually doubtful since so many tutor businesses cater only to ACT and not helping students after high school. I contacted Karen as well as two other tutors and decided to go with Learning Designs. Karen put us in touch with the perfect person to work with my daughter and the result was four papers each with a grade of A. Karen matched my daughter to the perfect tutor. It saved the semester. Karen is responsive to each student's needs and the building in Linden Hills provides a very nice environment for the sessions. I highly recommend Learning Designs.

At the second lesson she nailed it: first she scolded her for wearing perfume (which she wasn't), then yelled at her for only purchasing one flute book (she gave us the name of one book to purchase), then reprimanded her for not practicing the assigned lesson from the new book (she never assigned anything). My husband was witness to all of this including the final breakdown. My daughter burst into tears after she yelled at her for playing something incorrectly. After my husband interjected to say she was only a beginning flutist, she said, "I don't care. She's a 6th grader. She should know this!" At that point, she told my daughter she would not teach a cryer and ended the lesson. Then said, "This isn't going to work out. I'll mail your check back." Unbelievable. If a teacher is expecting perfection at the 2nd lesson, she should not advertise as a young beginner flute instructor.

We hoped LearningRx would help, but we never imagined just how much she would grow. The transformation has been incredible. Her reading has improved tremendously, she's become a stronger problem solver, and most importantly, she's gained confidence in herself. Instead of giving up when something feels hard, she's much more willing to work through the challenge and trust herself. The people at LearningRx made all the difference. Every trainer took the time to get to know Evie, encourage her, celebrate her successes, and somehow make even the hardest brain workouts fun. Even on days she wasn't excited to go, she always came home smiling. That speaks volumes about the amazing staff and environment they create. We are so grateful to everyone at LearningRx for believing in Evie and helping her discover just how capable she is. The skills and confidence she's gained will benefit her for years to come, and we couldn't be more thankful for this experience. - Danielle & Josh Pelton
