To go shopping at Mathis Home is the most unpleasant experience. Interested in seeing what Mathis has to offer, we wanted first to browse the show room. We told the sales person who greeted us we wanted to just look first. The sales person continued to stalk us as we walked throughout the store. Twice we told him that we found his hovering presence oppressive and we wanted to look on our own. Despite that, he continued to stalk us from one end of the building to the other. By the time we covered most of the buildings, we just wanted to flee and escape this overbearing sales person. We got out of the store as fast as we could. We could never buy furniture under that sort of pressure. Instead we went to Ethan Allen, which allowed us much more freedom to browse, and bought thousands of dollars worth of furniture. Calling this company only leads to being stuck in a loop. When they finally answer a call, the operator puts you on hold and you only have three options: Operator, Customer Service, or Leave a Callback Number. Pressing to connect to the operator gives you a transfer to an electronic voice that spells out "CUSTOMERSERVICE.WAV" and then drops you back in the same hold pattern with the same message. Get tired of waiting? The recording offers you three choices... Operator, Customer Service, or Leave a Callback Number. You've already tried to connect to an operator, so go ahead and try Customer Service. You'll get the same "CUSTOMERSERVICE.WAV" message, and get dropped back into the same loop on terminal hold. At this rate, there's no way this company is getting my phone number to call me back. I've tried two days in a row to get a live person on the phone so I wouldn't waste time driving down there if they didn't have what I was looking for in stock. I special ordered Bernhardt sofa the end of August 2022 and it would take 18 to 24 weeks. That was okay since I was really looking forward to the sofa as I purchased a Bernhardt from Evans before Mathis bought them out. It was the best sofa I've ever owned. When it was delivered, it was nice but the quality of the cushions was very poor. After a day of using the sofa I started having adverse reactions but chalked it up to allergies. But, the next day, small feathers started poking through the upholstery. I am very allergic to down! First of all, no one told me there would be down in the cushions. Shouldn't this be advertised? After all, pillows, comforters and any other bedding advertises if it contained down. I went to customer service and they told me I would have to pay 40% fee to return it exchange. There was small print in the back of the paperwork advising of this fee, but it's not my fault I need to return the sofa. I CAN'T use the sofa due to the allergic reaction. Recap: Mathis got my money paid in full for the sofa. Now they want another 40%, even though they will resell the sofa and make an additional profit. After a week, customer service called me and said an option instead of returning the sofa is to upgrade to 2 other options of cushion, which of course would be an additional charge to me. This tells me they sold me the cheapest cushions possible. I refuse to give them any more money and gave my new sofa to a family member. Please don't give this monopolizing company any money! I am seriously considering a law suit for selling a down product without notifying me. This could have turned out much worse for me. read more

Their delivery team sucks. I purchased a king mattress and had it delivered to my apartment. I was never offered an "upgraded" service. Today they did deliver the mattress to my apartment. My husband was there by himself who is older and physically ill. The delivery drivers knocked on the door and said we have a delivery for you. My husband ask them if they could push the mattress into the apartment to which they replied ...No...They left the mattress in the breezeway of my apartment complex for him to try and push, pull or drag into our apartment by himself. I called their customer service and they said their drivers were doing what was on the paper. Please keep in mind it was not explained to me that I needed to pay extra for there drivers to bring the mattress inside my apartment. Im guessing their drivers are not allowed to use common their common sense (if they have any). If I were delivering a KING MATTRESS to an apartment or home for that matter and and older gentleman who was in obvious poor health answered the door and ask if I could just push the mattress inside I would most assuredly push the damn mattress inside for him. Update: I spoke to a manager, I was told Chair isn't here, it "should" be here the week of the 27th, and if an order is only 3 weeks late, it's considered a successful order. That the service people I spoke with three times may not know how to read/understand what they are looking at on the order screen. "If my order was coming from out of the country, it could be 6 months longer."My order isn't coming from outside the U.S., not sure why that should make me feel better or lucky to hopefully get my order whenever it finally arrives. Manager was perfectly nice, but if your delivery quote times are off, you should communicate that with your customer instead of making a customer chase their order. They deserve 0 stars! We have been through hell trying to get our couch that was delivered damaged to us fixed. We just want our money back at this point since we have been getting the run around since July 5th. The customer service is terrible and Katie the manager is an awful human being. The couch was $6000 and we are being treated like scum!!! I rarely write reviews, but I need to warn people about their terrible service. They are repairing it instead of returning our money and have had it for over a week. We are left with no couch for our family of 4. A lot of people are unhappy with the type of service, but that's the business. When you walk in, be prepared to shoot down anyone who offers help, and don't be afraid to tell them to leave you alone and you'll find them when you're ready. I've bought two sofas here, one loveseat and one sleeper sofa, and I'll continue to buy my furniture here. The loveseat we had a great sales associate (roughly 2.5 years ago), and he was easy-going and great to work with. The sleeper sofa I bought maybe a year ago now, and I used the above tactic. I knew what I wanted, had already been to several other furniture stores, and didn't want people wasting my time. I asked where they were, headed back, looked at them alone for about 10 minutes, made up my mind, and hung out for a few minutes until I found a free salesperson. Five minutes later I was walking out with a sleeper sofa to be delivered soon. I've been impressed with the quality of the furniture, and while the sales stuff is annoying, just don't feel so bad telling them to leave you be until you want them. read more

READ THIS-Horrible experience. My husband and I went looking at The Design Studio at the OKC location. We ended up purchasing a leather couch, two chairs, mattress, a queen bed, night stand and chest of drawers. Keep in mind, I purchased a new section for my parents new home months earlier and set delivery to their house. My sales lady, Anjali set-up the delivery. (I mentioned I have 7 guests coming in town Friday Sept 17th). Delivery for the couch and bed set would be here Friday Sept. 10th, it was Sunday the Aug 29th. My father received a text confirmation for delivery at their house. I called and told them that is no MY address. That was a 1x gift delivery. I called and they transfer me to distribution. The lady said the delivery needed to be changed through my CC? I said, my form of payment has nothing to do with making the delivery my home address on file? I said this makes no sense. I called the CC company anyways.. I was right. I called back Mathis Brothers. Of course, they fixed it over the phone. (Please educate your employees) The couch and bed set was delivered the10th. I was told the chairs would arrive that following Monday on the 13th and the rails would come Friday but if they didn't make the truck, they would arrive Monday with the chairs. Monday, the chairs arrive. No rails for the bed. I called and scheduled again for Wednesday. I called Tuesday because I never received a confirmation text on arrival time Wednesday. They said there was no delivery for Wednesday scheduled. I scheduled again, talking to a manager and delivery would be Thursday (*promising* delivery for Thursday). I called back Wednesday since I didn't get a confirmation text AGAIN!! At this point It's Friday morning the 17th. I went back up to the store (Goldsby to OKC) and sat down with my sales lady. She knew I purchased the bed set and that it had to be set up before my guest arrive in a few hours. I went ahead and picked up my rails myself and they had a delivery driver come to my house after he finished his shift to set up the bed. He arrives, super nice guy and said, where are the slats? The mattress has to sit on the slats once the rails are put together. So now, NO SLATS.... of course! He put the box springs in the middle hoping it would fit in there until the slats come and so my guest could at least sleep on the bed for the weekend. It looks like a platform bed at this moment. (VERY Annoyed). I called my sales lady again and said her manager would call me and sort it out. NO PHONE CALL. Customer service scheduled me for delivery Thursday the 23rd. Received a confirmation text. Customer service calls me Thursday.........They had rails, no slats.... WHAT THE FUCK. I'm loosing it at this point. No one had noted I picked up the rails or the delivery driver came by. It's Friday Sept. 24th around noon, talked to the manager of the DS again and he said ill call you back TODAY with a status. It's 4:45 and he NEVER called me back. TODAY, SEPTEMBER 27TH 2021, I called him back. WHERE ARE MY SLATS. THE PHONE GOT DISCONNECTED. ??? I call him back again, he apologizes. My voice is raised at this point, NO ONE IS DOING THEIR JOB! YOU SIR NEVER CALLED ME BACK FRIDAY. DO I NEED TO COME GET MY SLATS TOO! I'LL DO IT MY DAMN SELF. He had to make a phone call and said he promises to call me back today. I've talked to 2 managers, (NO GM to talk to), customer service and floor sales and the departments DO NOT COMMUNICATE. I've been lied to 2x by both managers. Not calling back a customer and promising a delivery date. My bed is still not completely put together. Purchased A new mattress and bedframe was told at time of purchase we would receive a $300 visa card and that we can use the visa card to put towards the monthly payment. I just went to Mathis Brothers to pay the $300 with the card they sent that was made of paper and was not a visa card. The lady at customer service says we cannot pay the finance account at the store and you can't use that card because it is only to be used to purchase furniture in the store. Poor poor poor salesman. Miss leading at the time of sale. If it wasn't for this $300 Update We did not receive a Visa card. It is pretty much a printed up Mathis gift card. So we were misinformed, I'm pretty sure the sales reps are aware of what their company is offering and to say we were getting a visa gift card is misleading. I have my bed frame still waiting to come in and wS told 2 weeks ago by the 17th. Still no call to give me update. Update 21 oct 18 I had to call Mathis brothers only to find out that my order will take another 2-3 weeks. Initially we were told 5-6 weeks now it will be 8 weeks. Why aren't the sales people or customer service following up with the customers to back their customer satisfaction. Customer should not have to call after the date we are initially told it will be in the warehouse "per their system!" What is the correct story? This will be a lengthy review but worth the read if you care about quality. I purchased a custom color couch set made by U.S.A. Leather on February 18, 2018. Two weeks after being delivered, the "top of the line 8-way hand tie spring" broke! I am not a large person and I do not have kids, so the couch was hardly used. I requested a tech be sent out to inspect my couch. It was decided that the couch would be taken to their warehouse for repairs. The couch was returned a week later with MAJOR damage caused from Mathis Brothers!! Over 23 damage spots (scratches, white paint on couch, indentions, scrapes on legs, etc.) caused to my brand new leather couch. I call my service rep to report the damage and email her the images of damage. Yet again my couch goes back to Mathis Brothers. Two weeks later I have to follow up on my couch. The rep confirms that the damage THEY caused was fixed and my couch would be returned. She claimed that she inspected it herself before loaded into the delivery truck. The couch makes it back to my house-still damaged plus more. My case gets escalated to a "manager" in May 2018. She assures me this will be fixed and they will try to order me a new couch since the damage was caused by their employees. Okay, awesome, finally!! But that's not the case. The General Manager supposedly inspected the couch and feels that it is in pristine condition. But when I questioned the couch spring being broken, they had no idea what I was talking about. The spring had never been fixed or inspected! By this time I am extremely fed up with this company and their terrible customer service. It is now June 2018 and Mathis Brothers still has my couch and is refusing to fix it. I purchased the extended warranty on top of their year warranty, but they refuse to work with me. I have caught this "manager" in multiple lies and now she refuses to speak to me. They will email other managers to discuss my case but nobody is returning my calls. My case is getting passed around but I am not receiving quality help or answers. I am paying for a couch that has spent two weeks in my house. Every time I think, "Surely... surely, they can't botch this any more than they already have" Mathis Bros. (MB) takes it as a personal challenge and goes, "Hold my beer..." So here's how MB apparently works (if anyone is considering using them). Super lengthy review (can't be helped, there's so much to talk about): [] First [] we bought a three-piece living room set; a sofa, a love-seat, and an armchair. [] And then... [] a few months in, we noticed that the cushions on all three pieces were looking a little slouchy (not the look you want with mid-century furniture). So we called MB and told them we wanted to use the repair/replacement warranty (that the shopper-stalkers love to brag about while they pretend to not follow you). They schedule a tech to check to see if the cushions were having the issues as stated. The tech showed up, took pictures, concurred with our assessment, and told us that new cushions would be ordered. [] And then... [] we waited for (several) weeks, and heard nothing. We had no idea what was happening with the supposed replacements, and after getting the runaround one too many times, I channeled my frustrations into a Yelp review (see previous review). MB responded and said they would take care of things. [] And then... [] I went from not getting any phone calls to getting a phone call almost every day for a week or so about getting the cushion replacements ASAP. I was able to schedule a delivery date; new cushions on April 13th (yay). [] And then... [] a tech showed up on April 13th, and asked me which of the cushions I wanted replaced. Umm... what? All of them, obviously. It turns out he had been given only four (of six) cushions to replace, and one small box of polyester fiber to refill all of the pillows. So he ended up replacing the cushions on the love-seat, and the arm chair, and one of the three cushions on the sofa. He then told me I'd have to call MB back to find out about the other two cushions. He apparently couldn't (or wouldn't) get a hold of someone who knew what was going on. [] And then... [] I called MB and found out that the cushion replacements had been grouped as two separate transactions. Why? I dunno; why does MB do anything the way it does? So the other two cushions were to arrive separately. "Okay... Can I get them today?" No, of course not, that would be too simple. New delivery date: April 18th. [] And then... [] April 18th arrived, and a guy showed up and said that he needed to take some cushions away. I told him I wasn't giving him anything until he gave me two cushions in exchange. I had a strong feeling that if I handed off the two cushions, I would likely be looking at owning a sofa with two cushions missing for six months (or forever), based on everything I've come to experience with MB thus far. He had no cushions to give me. He called someone and I heard the guy on the phone to the guy at the door, "I'm not sure why you were sent out." Well, that's encouraging... [] And then... [] I called MB. By the way, have you noticed a pattern here? They never call you (except after I wrote the last negative review). Because that would require them to pull their corporate head out of their corporate burro. And since I'm the one with the issue, the onus is clearly on me to get a resolution, so I keep having to call. Now I've had to reschedule the appointment to get them to deliver the final two cushions: April 21st. I've had to take off two days from work to resolve this; almost a third day before I emphasized that I couldn't take off from work anymore for this nonsense. After scheduling, the young lady on the phone asked if I needed help with anything else. I asked to speak to a manager. She said that she couldn't transfer me to a manager, but that she would email one, and they would call me back. Anyone wanna take a guess on if a manager called me back? Does MB actually even have managers? Freakin' unicorns, these managers. edit: [] And then... [] I wrote this review, and a manager called me the same day. Brooklyn was her name. I just remember that because I thought, "Oh, like the borough in NYC." So it turns out the managers aren't unicorns. They're just really difficult to see in the wild. Like a Hirola or something. Brooklyn said she could get me a new sofa, or new cushions. I said, whichever would be quicker. Turned out a sofa would be quicker; they couldn't figure out where the cushions went. Now I could talk about the goofy throughput process where it's easier for them to get me a brand new sofa instead of replacement cushions, or about how it took a negative review before they felt inclined to help me, but... I won't... [] In summary... [] This oil-money-funneled, trust-fund-baby-run operation is at times the corporate equivalent of someone struggling with a neuro-muscular disorder; the brain is occasionally not communicating properly with the body, and we're helplessly watching while it plays out in front of us. read more

This was my second trip to Mathis Brothers/Ashley, in order to complete the furniture shopping needed for my new home. First experience was decent and only purchased one item. During my second experience, I was fortunate enough to meet a sales rep by the name of Izze Rodriguez. She approached my partner and I in a very friendly and open manner, which is better than either hounding us.. or leaving us mid sale and being hard to find (which is what happened our first trip with another rep). Izze was exceptional at her position. We provided her a verbal list of all the items we were looking for and she did her best to look up items in their system and provide suggestions based on what she thought was our style of décor. Although her suggestions weren't what we were looking for, we appreciated her effort and were grateful she didn't aggressively push for anything else we didn't ask for. On top of her laid back sales tactic, she was also very personable and took out the "drag" of furniture shopping that sometimes leaves you with a yawn, and filled it with laughs and smiles. From someone who comes from personally comes from sales, I'm familiar with how sales people can sometimes only see a person as a dollar sign. To me, Izze was creating a acquaintanceship, despite the fact that we were only there to purchase furniture. I encourage all sales people to take on this tactic, as Izze was exceptional in this regard. To sum this up - Izze made us comfortable, gave us a wonderful deal & left us with a smile (along with a gift bag). Mathis Brothers/Ashley are very fortunate to have her on their team, along with Jaiden who works at the front desk/cashier counter. Everything about the shopping experience at Mathis Brothers is dreadful. The moment you step in, you're tagged by a salesperson who stands close by and acts like they're folding something or cleaning a couch. They're not, though because, at that moment in time, their sole responsibility is to wait for you to say to your S/O or family member something along the lines of "what do you think of this one?", at which point they'll suddenly swoop in on you with a line like, "this is a great sleeper sofa from Jonathan Louise. Are you folks looking for anything in particular?" At this point, they're stuck on you. Game over, man. Which, hey, if you don't have a clear idea of what you're wanting, it's great. Mathis' salespeople are helpful and can answer questions left and right. However, the moment they realize they're about to close on the sale, their service will rapidly decline. We bought a sectional sofa and a china cabinet and were told that the sofa had to be made-to-order, that we'd need to put a percentage down in order for the sofa order to process, plus pay the delivery fee for the sofa ahead of time, plus state and local taxes, and put money down on the china cabinet in order to "reserve" it. Sounds like a lot of math, right? Good thing Mathis has a department entirely dedicated to arranging and taking payments so tha- Wait why are you calculating it all on paper with a pencil, salesperson? Yeah so our salesperson says that he has to calculate the down payment, shipping fees, and taxes, then get it signed-off by a manager, and then get it paid at the cashier's department. Which begs the question: ...what? Who would have thought that a multi-million dollar company still uses paper and pencil to figure out sales tax and down payments? Apparently Mathis Brothers keeps dozens of computers around only to look like they're technologically up-to-date. Oh and speaking of managers...good luck finding one. These magical creatures are absolutely vital (for a signature) to place orders but are in no way required to actually read orders, see if calculations are done correctly, interact with customers, or ensure that a customer's order is placed properly. Plus, salespeople don't have to commit to anything when all they have to do is shrug and say "sorry, I'm not the manager. I can't do anything about it." with every request you have. Mathis Brothers managers, I assume, are on the top floor of their corporate headquarters twiddling their fingers maniacally, waiting for papers to sign, and shouting at salespeople saying things like, "No they can't have an extra cushion with their sofa purchase. They'll make do with three cushions, I say! I don't care how much they spent on it! Now calculate Oklahoma sales tax for me!" Anyways, we got all of that payment stuff out of the way, which was a bit of a pain but hey, now there's nothing left to do but wait for the order to come in...is what should have happened. Instead, our salesperson calls me three days later and says "oh hey, I calculated the shipping fee and the down payment wrong so we haven't released your order. You're going to have to pay more before we start making your sofa and deliver your cabinet." So apparently, because Mathis Brothers only recently stopped using a chisel and stone for their purchase orders and can't calculate what's owed using a computer, I'm not allowed to have my order released until I pay what they say. What do I get in return other than a :shrug: and half-hearted "sorry"? I get another "Our manager has to release the order, I can't do anything about it. He said he'll call you..." The manager never called btw. So then I ask the salesperson whether I can pay over the phone. He says, "Sure!...just call back and ask for the cashier's department." "...Can't you just transfer me to the cashier's department now?" "No, sorry you'll have to call back, we can't transfer..." Mathis Brothers operates like they just discovered electricity and are still wrapping their heads around the concept. Frankly, I'm surprised I didn't receive a notice from them via aeromail. So then I call back and am immediately welcomed to the sound of Rit Mathis saying, "This is Rit Mathis. We appreciate your business. Have a great day." I don't think you do appreciate my business, Rit... After 20 minutes of being put on/off hold by a confused cashier that thought I wanted to pay $2100 for a ticket that I didn't ask about, I finally made the payment needed to release ("release") my order. The cabinet was brought broken and sent back for a replacement. The replacement was apparently made with only 3.5 legs and wobbled back and forth like a Jenga tower but, at that point, I wanted nothing to do with Mathis anymore so I took it as is. The best thing about shopping at Mathis Brothers is the feeling you get when you finally walk out, knowing that you'll never have to buy from them again. Ordered a $1600 table and chairs with a $300 ottoman and a $1300 sideboard in middle of June . The table came in a couple weeks but was broken and took 2 weeks to replace. Now 9 weeks later they say the ottoman will be here next week. The side board we have been told will be here in Sept!!! I'll give them one star for being clever enough to fool me. Grossest excuse for customer service I have ever received. Was lied to about our product several times. Finally asked for a refund, the associate told me "Ok, 3-5 business days" and then hung up. Turns out he never processed our return. I ordered this rug on September 14th. It is November 23 and no rug, no refund, no communication, and no apology. I would not recommend that you buy from Mathis Brothers especially mattresses. I bought right at $40,000 worth of furniture from them about a month ago and when it came time for us to pick the mattresses out for the master bed we were told the split mattresses might be a good fit for us. Though we were a bit apprehensive about the split situation we were assured we could swap them if we didn't like them after 30 days. Well as it turns out we were right, we hate the split mattresses so we called for the swap so we could exchange the two twin XL for a King like we originally had planned. Now let the half truths and lies begin as the real deal about their exchange policy is you have to exchange the same size mattresses that you bought "would be nice if they mentioned this". Two twin XL is a King size, but nope you can't and additionally you have to pay $200 per mattress for the exchange. If you want to return them, nope that won't work either. So we have over 7K is mattresses that looks like we are going to give away as we hate this combination. Don't listen to what they say as it is lies and make sure you read every single page disclosure / disclaimer they make you sign in the mountain of paperwork at checkout as their words or lack there of means nothing. Needless to say I have cancelled all the furniture that we bought corporately just in time thank the Lord and will be looking to take our business elsewhere and you should too. I bought 3 Hamlyn Medium Brown Large bookcases (2 with a door) and it would be more appropriate to call these display cases, not bookshelves. I purchased this and within 2 weeks, the shelves started to sag. When I called customer service, I was told 1) I can't return them since it is after the 7 day return period, and 2) they would only send me new shelves to replace the sagging ones (which was all of them). When I called to complain further and ask for a good resolution to the issue, I was told that the manufacture says the limit for each shelf is 15 lbs. 15 lbs of books would approximately take up 1/3 of the shelf. Hence, it is more of a display case than a bookcase. You would think something that is meant to support books would be made out of real wood, but no it is engineered wood. The only way I could return them is to pay a restocking fee and delivery fee! So I kept them, had them send me the new shelves and went to home depot and spent a little over 200 to shore up each shelf so it can be an actual book case. One would think that they would have such limitations (15 lbs/shelf) on the product description or specifications on the website, but no they do not. Yet, they insist on a 7-day return rule. Well, this family of 10 who just got a lot of stimulus money will NOT be spending it at Mathis. It's time to go elsewhere for the living room furniture and 3-bedroom sets. Bought custom recliners. One with stitching in both arms coming loose and banding at seat tearing out. Customer service is rude with complete lack of understanding of furniture parts. Andy with customer service house calls is incompetent and refuses to answer phone. Supposedly " Manager" will call you back. Still waiting on that call. Guess I'm old fashioned. Found our amazing couches at Mathis Brothers over Labor Day. They had a nice selection but this nice Grey couch was exactly what I wanted. The delivery and setup was quick and I'm finally reclining! The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because they don't offer a military discount like most other furniture stores. read more

We shopped at Mathis Brothers since I was a little girl. My grandma was a loyal customer so six years ago, when I was looking for a new recliner, that's where I went because I knew they had La-Z-Boy furniture. That experience wasn't the best and after a horrible experience at their sleep center, I swore I would never go back. Well, they are the only store that has La-Z-Boy recliners that have the power head and leg rest for a reasonable price, so I decided to give them another shot. I'm so glad I did. My salesman, Ron Powell, was awesome. He wasn't pushy and he didn't act like I was a burden because I'm temporarily in a wheelchair from a back injury and it takes me longer to try out the furniture. He was patient and listened to what I wanted. I shop online first to see what options I'm interested in. He showed me those and then showed me similar items. The furniture he showed me was much better but the recliner was amazing. Not only is it powered leg and head rest but the headrest also tilts forward or back so you can adjust the support level plus the lumbar area is powered too which is the best thing for my back! It was 7:52 when I decided I wanted the recliner and asked if it was in stock so I could take it home that night. He said, "The warehouse closes in 8 minutes so let's hurry and get it paid for before then so you can." And that's what we did. Then we went back and picked out the sofa and loveseat. I ended up spending a little more than I had originally planned, but I got much better furniture too. I'm extremely happy with my purchases and my salesman! He made me a life time customer once again. I got an email the day before delivery to let me know the two hour window time. The day of delivery, one of the delivery guys called to let me know they would be there within an hour and they were. They were very nice and delivered it quickly even though it is tricky getting anything big in my house because of my long narrow porch that is 5 feet off the ground. I felt bad for them having to struggle so much to get the furniture inside, but they did it with no complaints. read more

Once these people get your money, there is no such thing as customer service. Sure, they deliver the furniture, but if you have an issue with it, you're completely ignored. We ordered a couch through them. The feel was nothing like the one on the showroom floor. At best, it will take years for the cushions to soften, but likely never. We were completely blown off - that's "Bob Mills" but it's all the same. Then, we ordered a chair from "Ashley" some time later - again, all the same. It didn't come in when they said it would. Nary a call. My wife waited on hold for 20 minutes trying to talk to someone. Then, all they said was it would be another two weeks. Clearly, they had no idea. Never talked to the salesman or a manager. They only communicated through a receptionist. Cowards. read more

We have shopped at MB fairly regularly over the last 10 years. We have also looked at other furniture stores both locally and elsewhere, but find that MB usually has the best selection and price for our needs. Over the last 3 days, we have been there each day working to obtain some new living room furniture. Now to get things started, yes the salespeople do work on commission and yes they can be persistent. I've never felt that any of the salespeople were annoying or obtrusive, but some can be overly eager at times. We have found that with most companies there are great salespeople and not so great salespeople and we have always been able to find a salesperson we like. This time we were partnered with Ryan Symes and he absolutely earned his commission. Ryan is very knowledgeable about the pieces in the store as well as design and construction details. He not only helped us find pieces that met our needs, but also offered helpful design insight. Now we are not your typical customers as we have 4 children under 9 years old and bring them with us to shop. Ryan never missed a beat and was quite patient with us as we wound our way though the showrooms with our 4 kiddos in-tow. After 2 visits and roughly 4 hours of shopping, we thought that we had chosen everything we wanted. Upon setup in the House last night, we came to the conclusion that the sectional we chose was not going to work, so back it went. Customer service was very helpful and quickly worked through our return with no hassle at all. We were able to get the sectional returned and back to the showroom to try again. Ryan patiently worked with us as we went through all the living room settings for the third day in a row. We found what we needed after about 2 hours. We had a great experience with Brooke Lynn Facteau here (upstairs) -- very upbeat, very eager to serve. VERY gay friendly. (We hate getting treated like crap by homophobic salespeople, and this kind of thing is so exceedingly commonplace here in the buckle of the Buy-bull Belt. Call it what you will, but my husband of twenty-three years and I simply call it BAD BUSINESS.) Again, Brooke was charming and VERY easy to work with. Tony Brown (downstairs)? Also great to deal with. On our fourth visit in the last two months, Gwendolyn Johnson helped us. Gwendolyn, too, was an absolute charmer -- simply wonderful and never pushy. We had issues with the first Uttermost étagère that Mathis Brothers delivered to us, and (!!!) with the second one sent us. (Hey, it happens. We get it.) That said, though, Mathis Brothers MADE IT ALL RIGHT BY US. My only issue with Mathis Brothers? I ought to be able to pick my salesperson and go with her or her anywhere in the store. Period. What horrible customer service! Bought items for our new house - put the required % down to hold them, and they sold them from under us! Took two months to argue for them to reorder and another 5 to get in! They claimed their policy is items are required to be picked up in two weeks. So then, because the sofa we got was delivered damaged, and the replacement kept getting pushed back on delivery, we went in to select something else that was in stock. Sofa and dining set. On the dining set some of the chairs had to be ordered. They were 2 months out. I asked numerous times if my table and the bench would be held, was told yes, it is a two week pick up from the time the ticket is complete. Two and a half weeks later I get a call that they sold my table to someone else and it would be 6-7 months for the next one to arrive... Told me they would 'take care of me' and to select something else so two and half hours later, we did (CHOOSING SOMETHING IN STOCK) but they needed to have the manager call me. He didn't. Went up and got no where still... every time you talk to them, it's like it's your fault. Not to mention the second time, there was comped delivery, so if it was in, they should've just called to schedule delivery... seriously they couldn't care less about their customers! Bragging about how someone was buying $80k worth of merch so they couldn't hold it - oh so my $6k order is irrelevant?!? read more

I bought a La-z-boy recliner from Mathis Brothers. It was soon covered with "pills", like a cheap sweater. I bought additional insurance that is supposed to replace or repair their furniture if there is a problem. I contacted the insurance company and was told they don't cover it because "it is a factory defect." I then called La-z-boy. They said it's not a defect. It "just happens" and I should buy a sweater shaver. Really? I spend hundreds on furniture and I am expected to SHAVE it? I have been to Mathis Brothers multiple times on this issue and they just act like I'm stupid for thinking I shouldn't have to shave my furniture! They said it happens on some material. Well maybe they should tell customers about this possibility. I finally gave up and bought a shaver. It doesn't really look a whole lot better. I have another recliner that is 12 years old that looks better than this one. I'm sure they won't care that I won't be shopping there. They won't make it good or even call me. So beware. I'm glad I didn't buy a couch. That might take a long time to shave it. read more

Delivery and setup is terrible. During disassembly while moving, I realized that most of the hardware was missing from my bedroom set. I was told by the sales manager that hardware would be shipped to my door from China sometime in the future. Be careful when you buy here, and have delivery and setup. My grandparents bought furniture there. My parents bought furniture there. We USED to buy furniture there, but no more. The first issue we had was with a bed... we got pushed the extended warranty and bought it. Supposedly the whole thing had a 30 day return if you don't like it besides any warranty. The bed was not comfortable and just did not give us a good night's sleep. Called and were told no the warranty and guarantee did not cover a "lumpy mattress". Ugh ok, we didn't like it but MAYBE we misunderstood. Fast forward a year... we buy a couch and a couple of side tables. Again the extended warranty is pushed very hard and despite having a bad experience before we are assured that it won't happen again, that the warranty covers EVERYTHING. Ok, please deliver.... they never show up on the day they are supposed to and calling the girl answering was very rude but told us we would be on the schedule the next day. Of course, we never made the schedule and they don't show up again. Again we get a very rude girl who instead of apologizing acts like it's our fault they didn't deliver but we do finally get it the next day. A week later one of the tables has some peeling AND one of the couch cushions has split open. Calling we are told sorry the warranty doesn't cover peeling on the table and doesn't cover "seams". I mean what the hell... should we even need an extended warranty on furniture we bought two weeks ago? And if the extended warranty doesn't cover seams (you know the actual workmanship on the furniture) does it cover anything? Again very rude people on the phone and we were told no manager was available to speak to us but would call us... no one ever did. Three generations of buyers.... done. We won't be going there any more. The young cashiers they have working there are rude... the people answering the phone are rude... the only ones who aren't are the salespeople but they flat out lie about the warranties. You know the saying "fool me once shame on you.... fool me twice, shame on me".... There won't be a third time. It's a shame too.. we've always liked their selection of furniture and our three generations of families have spent tens of thousands of dollars there over the years, but not another dime. read more

I don't know about the furniture but the kids gift area is great. Many of the toys were educational and very reasonably priced. We were buying for a 1, 4, and 6 year olds. We found several gifts for each and only spent $65. I usually hate shopping in toy stores (good riddance Toy's R US) so much junk for the landfill, but this was different and well priced. My girlfriend and I had shopped at Mathis Brothers numerous times, both for our own house and a number of nonprofit houses in an organization we are affiliated with. We always had great furniture and excellent customer service. Mathis Brothers became a name we could stand behind. For Christmas this year, we wanted to go back and get the bedroom sets that matched the beds we purchased earlier in the summer. We had a great experience with the sales rep, who was all too eager to help us plan the event out for our family, as we would purchase the item on 12/06/2019, but not pick it up until the 23rd, just in time for Christmas. Our kids would go to the grandparents and come home to new furniture as a surprise! When picking up the furniture, I noticed that one of the dressers was not in the original packaging, but in bubble wrap. I asked one of the gentlemen loading it why that was, and his answer was it must have gone through an additional inspection. Once I got home, I realized that the dresser in bubble wrap was in fact used. It had a number of dings on the surface, the screws stripped out of the handles, and the base board just above the top drawer having clearly been 'repaired'. The other dresser, the inside racks where the drawers catch on one side were completely ripped out! I took pictures and emailed them to customer service, then I immediately called Mathis Brothers, who had some options for me. They had a replacement for one dresser, if I was willing to bring it back up and swap it out. They would not deliver anything without an extra fee. On the other dresser, they wouldn't have a replacement until the middle of January. My warranty covers repairs on the furniture (which is really designed for if me or my kids damage it in the first year of owning it, not if it comes inoperable), however they said it would take 7-14 days for a repair man to come out and fix it, also not for free. These options didnt work for me, so I demanded a price reduction. I shouldn't have to pay full price for broken and used furniture, right? First they offered me store credit in the amount of $100, to which I declined. They then offered me 10% off, and told me if I wanted anything higher to call back in the morning when the manager can speak to me. The next day, dealing with the same associate (Kevin was him name), they told me 20% was the highest they would go. Ready to put this terrible experience behind me and fix my own furniture, I agreed. But I have had to call back two different times, last call was today 1/24/2020, and argue again with different managers about what was already agreed on. On 1/10/2020 I called and asked why the discount hadn't been applied, they responded with because we have a better deal for you, we have been meaning to call you. They now had replacements for both pieces of furniture, would I like to bring my damaged and used pieces up and trade them? No thanks, give me my discount and let me move on. Apparently I have a profile in their system where they read that I agreed to a 15% discount and they had no record of it being any higher! I had to go through the negotiation process, once again, to get my 20%. They asked why can't they replace the items, told me they were doing the best they could to make this right. I declined, just give me the agreed 20% discount and let's not ever talk again. They finally agreed. Today, Progressive calls to confirm the discount of 15% off the two dressers, and I couldn't believe it. I called back up to Mathis Brothers, who once again didnt have any record of a discount that 'was as high as 20%'. I was told that under no circumstances would they sell me furniture that was used, and argues with me about both the quality of the furniture and how the damages occurred. The manager even went as far to say to me why dont I just bring the furniture back and we can cancel the entire transaction (this managers name is Steve B). I wish I could! Since I used Progressive Leasing, I have almost zero chance of canceling that contract and backing out of payments. Even if they were to agree to let me, I would still be out the $250 I have already played into the lease, as they absolutley will not refund my money. I will never shop Mathis Brothers again. Absolute worst shopping experience that I have ever been though, and it just won't come to an end, as I'm sure I will have to call them back in two weeks to ask them to update Progressive on the correct lease amount. Do NOT buy furniture at this store. We bought an entire set of leather living room furniture. Within less then a year, the color wore off and the motor in the electric recliners quit working. We contacted the salesman that helped us purchase set and he had quit working at store due Mathis Brother's inferior quality products and total lack of customer service. This place is a joke and we are the butt of it. Spent thousands of dollars on junk !!! Do not buy anything from this place. Would give it negative stars if possible. read more

Update - Mathis sent out a very experienced gentleman with great customer service skills to check the buffet. When he turned it on it's side it was apparent that all 4 legs were in different places on the bottom of the piece due to the manufacturer pre-drilling the holes incorrectly. He advised to return the defective buffet, hand select a replacement from the others in stock and they would pick up the defective one when they delivered the new one. We made an attempt to do just that but they had exactly zero in stock in the distribution center and it will be another 2 weeks (minimum) before more arrive. So...though the delivery people were unprepared, Mathis did step up and give the issue the attention it needed. While we are now waiting for them to pick up the buffet in a couple of days we are hopeful that this will end on a better note than yesterday did. I would still not use the delivery service because no one on that team of three had the gumption to actually look at what they delivered and see that the buffet was not standing properly - they just wanted to get back to the warehouse so they could go home. But Mr Jones - a man knowing the product and the company - came prepared to fix what was wrong (which couldn't happen) and he leveled the dining chairs while he was here. read more
