My sister was subjected to multiple instances of verbal abuse during her time in the program. This took the form of racist comments, mocking of her Asian heritage, inappropriate questions, and direct verbal attacks on her and our family.
Moreover, a situation arose in which my sister felt unsafe due to the reckless behavior of a classmate engrossed in a video game. His erratic actions, leading to physical contact, forced my sister to use her pencil case as a defensive barrier for her own safety.
Please be aware that all of these incidents occurred during classes, despite the presence of a teacher and an assistant in the classroom!
We attempted to address these serious concerns with the site director, only to be met with uncooperative and dismissive responses. During one conversation, she abruptly hung up the phone. When I expressed my intent to share our experience publicly, I was accused of making threats.
The program director also attempted to absolve the program of any responsibility for the students' behavior in the class. It is important to note that educational institutions have an obligation to provide a safe environment free from harassment and discrimination. This includes managing verbal abuse and respecting students' personal space.
Given these deeply troubling experiences, I decided to withdraw my sister from the program. We initially paid $1850 for a 5-week session and requested a proportional refund for the 3 weeks she would not be attending. As of the time of this review, we have yet to receive this refund.
I strongly advise parents to thoroughly review all available information and consider these experiences before deciding to enroll their children in this program. Your child's safety, comfort, and overall well-being should always be the top priority.
