All of the negative reviews seem to be relating to the delays in opening. Yes it took around 7-8 months for this gym to open but they were building the entire premises from the ground up, give them a break! Construction isn't easy! I've been going to this gym for about a month now. I started coming in about two weeks before the official opening (I asked if I would be able to come by to use the equipment early and was told it was okay) and despite the minor issues that come with the fact that it's still being finished up I love it. The gym is beautiful, clean, and well maintained. There is a good variety of workout machines of all different types and more being added weekly. There are different weights, bars, balls, and other equipment for use. There is towel service both in the gym and the locker rooms. Fresh clean towels are folded everywhere to take and use as needed. The locker room is lovely and clean. The lockers are on a code system so no locks needed! There are glass door showers and shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion and hairspray for use (but no dryers so bring your own!). There is even a steam sauna. The locker room is constantly cleaned and restocked. For now there are only late night or early morning classes because the room where the classes will be held is still being finished up. Still the classes I attended were great. I loved Zumba the best and Wednesday yoga class. It's great that membership allows me to go to whichever classes I want whenever I want. The teachers are interactive and fun and it's a neat atmosphere. There is also a lounge with free wifi and good food and smoothies as well as plenty of tables and couches to sit around and do some work between classes or workouts. And there are three parking lots so parking is never an issue. Also everyone is super sweet and friendly! I'm always greeted with a smile when I walk in and the staff just make me feel welcome. I've visited Bally's and YMCA and the staff there always looked so annoyed and angry. Customer service really matters. The pool is not open yet but I'm not impatient. I've been seeing it build up and it looks like it will be great. I can't wait to take some swimming classes and learn to swim better for the summer! read more

Overpriced. Customer service is NONEXISTENT. Called a few times to cancel my membership because I moved to the west coast and haven't attended the gym in months. I was told it would be taken care of. They continue to charge my credit card. When I call and ask why, the only thing they can tell me is they are following the contract and that more than 50% of their clients pay but don't actually go to the gym--as if that's a good explanation as to why I am being charged after I already cancelled my membership. UPDATE: 12/12/17 They charged my card another month. Called the office and NOW their excuse is I didn't provide them with proof of relocating. This is the first time I'm hearing that I need to show a GYM proof of me moving for them to cancel my membership. The swimming pool reception desk is extremely messed up. They did not explain me the pool rules right, so I always had a problem with lifeguards almost every time I would come. Lifeguards were giving me nasty comments almost every time because I was not explained properly on my sign up day that I had to carry my membership card with me when I enter the pool and other rules!!! One of their stuff, a girl with a green hair was changing her feminine pads one day in a women locker room instead of going to the bathroom and of course she did not wash her hands!!! You don't put your tampons and whatever in front of everybody on the locker room bench and then return to work!!!! You do it in the bathroom!!!! One of the lifeguards made comments about how I should swim. Also, when I paid for the other month just to give it a chance, the pool reception desk did not give me printout for the current month schedule, because they said they don't have it! Then one day my membership card was not scannable because they had a problem in their system and it looked liked I did not pay for that month while there was a problem on their side and I even brought the receipt to show I have paid! It also turned out my membership does not include the pool on Sat/Sun at all, but because I did not have a schedule on me I did not know! When I come in on a Sunday morning and wanted to distress and let my problems go, the nasty lifeguard has stressed me out even more! He told me that I can't swim today and I should leave while I was standing there in a swimming suit ready to go inside the water!!!!! He just told me to leave the pool!!! I asked to speak to the manager, she was nice, but I felt so humiliated !!! It's been 6 moths since I joined Matchpoint and I am extremely impressed with what has been erected from a large patch of dirt and opened land. Since then, Matchpoint has added an amazing restaurant & lounge and an amazing swimming pool. The resturant has a great menu, reasonably priced and the dishes taste great! This gym has pros and cons. The facility is new and has a nice layout with pretty good cafe upstairs overlooking the pool and the tennis courts. Food is good and and fresh although pricey. The facility for gym is small and not always well maintained- sometimes it smells and not very well ventilated. Parking is very limited inside the gates and it's extremely hard to park. The biggest con is the price of the gym and the way it is run. the average membership fee is over $80 a month plus tax and NOT including the use of the pool. With pool membership fee are way over $120-$140 per month that makes it the priciest gym in Brooklyn and in Manhattan as well. For that much money you expect a 5 star hotel facility and treatment and unfortunately it is not. May I add that people are extremely rude especially their membership department! Downgrading their review to 2 points as they are getting worse and worse and honestly with this attitude they should not be in business. read more

I brought my 4yo kid to the swimming group. I wanted to see how my kid swims and how the training goes in general, but the lane on which the group was swimming is not displayed on the screens. After training my child cut himself on the bench that stands inside, she sat down and started crying but no one approached her because the coach took the next group and latched into the water and the lifeguard sat and looked at her phone. Also, hair dryers practically do not dry their hair in the children's locker room. And the most important minus in the matchpoint, which was the decisive factor in the decision, does not go there anymore - it is the staff at the reception. This is absolutely the best gym hands down and truly cannot be compared to any other gym in the area. I've been a member in many other gyms before joining here. In short, I love that they have a private parking lot for their members so that you don't have to waste time on searching for street parking, paying for the meter, or rushing back to your car before your parking time runs out. The equipment is state of the art and new, the cafe serves healthy food, there are indoor tennis courts, a large swimming pool, outdoor fitness in the summer, fitness classes and its very clean. Some people complain that its pricey but I very much disagree. I pay about $100.00 monthly. I'd rather have 1 less dinner and have a month at a great gym. read more

They include all kinds of recreational sports and have a gym for working out as well as a huge pool and tennis courts. The cafe upstairs is very clean and modern. Childs swimming lessons have begun and I couldn't be happier. The instructors are so engaging and professional. The place is also spotless. The pool is salt water, so there is no harsh chlorine smell. It also has more buoyancy so you can float better. So far I'm very happy with this place, I will keep an update as the children learn to swim. I'm hoping that the eight sessions I paid for will be enough. If not, they also offer one on one lessons. Update: My kid missed one session but in 7 sessions she can jump in and swim from one end of the pool flip and swim back. The only thing she didn't learn, which I think is important is to float, wade and to properly breathe while swimming. Might need another 8 sessions. read more

Here is why this gym has a 1 star review from me: - It launched poorly and out of necessity for member fees to start rolling in, with construction still going full swing. I don't think this would be acceptable by any current "elite" fitness facilities. Bad planning/layout such as lack of water fountains. - Horrible customer service at the main desk. If you need something, you have to go through 2+ people before someone can actually help. If you don't speak Russian, hope you're lucky and get someone who understands what you need. I've never been greeted, ever. - The Yoga room is TINY. There are a lot of people who want to do it but the space doesn't allow for that. The absolute max is 16 people with NO space for instructor and you're basically touching the wall / others all the time. I thought I'd pay $50 here instead of a cheaper gym because I can do the Yoga classes, but I hate even thinking about being cramped in that room. - The equipment is good, but the gym floor is seems crowded. Again, another reason that doesn't make me want to try new things there - simply too much stuff in the room. There is barely any open space. This was fine for a while but more equipment came in, more people joined, and now it's hard to work out. I constantly have to carry weights/equipment to other parts of the gym because someone is using a machine that can injure me because it's too close! I am not even sure how to begin barbell training because things are so packed. - Deleting Facebook comments. Yup, if you ask a question or say anything that might somehow point to a flaw in the gym - your comment might be gone! Happened twice with me already. - Weird class schedule. Lots of weekday morning classes starting at 9:30am... I'd love to take them save for the fact that most people have to be at work at that time. Need more variety in earlier classes. Similar thing with evening classes, many of them are around 6 and some around 8-9, so too early or too late. - Very little communication with members regarding changes. When the gym launched I worked out and wanted to take a shower, to find that there was no hot water! The maintenance guy had no idea why, the construction workers may have turned it off... but there was no notice. I won't be renewing my membership here. read more

I'm a hardcore gym goer. I signed up for a 3 day pass, just to test out the facility. Out of the 3 days, I'm only using 1, and never, ever going back. Pros: Nice, clean locker room. Beautiful space. Towel service throughout the facility. Cons: Overpriced Unprofessional staff. When I met with a rep from member services, she didn't even introduce herself. Not only that, but the person I had been in contact with via e-mail, said that they would be there when I arrived and they weren't. No joke- only one really nice person at the front desk. The gym, if you even want to call it that, is a joke. It is LINED with Matrix equipment, which is garbage. Hardly any of the equipment is bolted down. People do not put weights back, at all. And considering it's a tiny floor where the equipment is, people would put things back. Nope. Barely any bars to use for the multi-use machines. The people in the "gym" are rude. RUDE. RUDE. They walk around with a sense of self-entitlement. Oh- and while having a shake in the cafe, I witnessed two irritating guys making fun of a young kid taking tennis lessons. I wasn't even in the facility for a full hour yet at that time and I was already disgusted. What a great impression this place left me with. Stay away. read more

One word- AWFUL. I had a groupon that I wanted to use for $10 worth of gym visits. When I called in to ask, they said I can either use the gym (cardio or weights) or the swimming pool. Naturally, I was interested in the swimming pool. Upon arriving, I was told I needed to speak with the manager and answer an intake form with personal questions. As my boyfriend and I were filling the form, another couple came in and spoke to the receptionist saying they were interested in possibly signing up. They were given an intake form and asked to wait. The other couple asked to see the top deck which was a food lounge with oversight to the tennis courts and swimming pool. We had been waiting half an hour when the manager asked the receptionist who gave us a funny look. Next thing we knew the manager took the other couple for a tour and left us in the dust. I'm sure of these things: 1- They don't welcome the groupons they have online, it's a gimmick to get you there 2- You have to be Eastern European to be treated like a human being. Really upset with this establishment because I truly was excited to see the facility however when I entered I wasn't all that impressed. Their pool is not an Olympic size pool although they have the space for it. The customer service from the receptionist just ranked 0 with me. The ladies at the desk never smile and don't make you feel welcomed. Overall this gym on the outside is nice enough to have you curious on the place but not worth the chunk of money you'll spend for a membership. i dont know about the sports complex but i do know i go there for pt/dr and i am a disabled person with a parking placard. i can not use the parking lot because their clients and workers are blocking the handicap spots and are not allowed to. i have put in several complaints along with other disabled people and they dont care nasty bunch of people with no compassion at all i am thinking of reporting them to the media and americans with disabilities there is no ratings low enough read more

Great gym to workout and train. Has tons of equipments and enough benches and weights to train. Second floor rooms are equipped with punch bags and dedicated for boxing and kickboxing trainings which I like as well. However would be perfect if staff could be bit more active and positive when talking to people. Cleaner than most sports club but horrible management. Pool area looks great, but they only have 2 shower stall after the swim class of about 20 to 30 kids. Poor planning for a swim school. I have 3 kids and 6 other nephews and neices that attend their swim class and they do not really teach that well. I asked the coach why they do not correct the proper technic, and the response I got "Are you a swim instructor?" I am not a swimming pro but been to better swim school. Unfortunately after hurricane Sandy we had to look for a new facility because the facility was damaged by the storm and we stumbled in to this school. I would not recommend this facilty. Looking for parking use to be good but now horrible. Roof in the cafeteria is leaking and when it snows you will get an avalanche of snow if you are too close to their building. read more

I have had a great experience here with the staff and the swimming camp. The front desk staff has been able to immediately answer every question I have asked and have had forms and information readily accessible. The summer camps all seem to be well run with nice, mature and EXPERIENCED staff/coaches. My only concern is that it seems that the kids watch about 30 minutes of a movie during a break and I can have my kids do that at home. They include lunch (standard chicken nuggets and fries type of options) and a healthy snack - this makes it easy to just drop kids and not have to worry about packing a lunch. The facility is amazing and not over crowded (yet). The time line listed on the website is not exactly what is realistically happening but I think they are working out logistics being that these are the first camps they are running. The Director of the program is always visible and open to feedback. read more

Truly as good as it gets. New and clean facilities. Friendly staff, and great coaches. I go to the gym every day, and often go for breakfast or lunch at their lounge upstairs. The food is very nice, as are their fresh squeezed juices and smoothies. Tennis courts are great, and the people that use the gym are a great crowd. Activities for kids are a huge added plus, and are very convenient for parents. Going for a workout while your kid is in class is priceless! Everyone is super nice, and front desk staff is helpful and welcoming. Great gym in South Brooklyn, and I feel like I am getting top notch service for the price. read more

PARENTS BEWARE! This is NOT a place your kid will be taught sportsmanship; your child will pick up character traits that will NOT serve him/her well in any way later in life. The junior program here has a reputation in the junior tournament circuit as having coaches with zero tennis etiquette. The kids in the junior program here are taught and strongly encouraged by their coaches to cheat and lie during matches. There seem to be NO limits to what scams the coaches use to win any points during matches. This is NOT a good program to raise a decent citizen. read more

It just had soft opening; tennis courts are fully operational, everything else is work in progress, but it has a potential to become best facility in Bklyn and one of the best in the whole city when done. My tennis pro Alex was awesome; he was excellent to play with and gave me many great tips that should improve my game. In general very good place and deserve 5 stars except that tennis courts never get air-conditioning - almost impossible to play. Despite of the repeatedly asking to turn it on players get successfully ignored, although all other facilities do get air conditioning. The cost for the court for one hour not cheap at all - $60.00 but tennis players are not getting the services we are paying for. Sounds like a fraud. Otherwise OK. read more

The best Sports Club in Brooklyn!!! You're truly treated like a celebrity when you come here. The entire staff is pleasant as is the facility. Luxurious and has everything you want in a gym and more : swimming pool, tennis courts, basketball, and an endless list of classes available free to all members. I absolutely love this gym! Have been a member for two years, and I frequent the spinning classes and "boot camp" class mainly. Spacious, never too crowded, always friendly customer service, very nice changing rooms and showers. This place really has it all. Highly recommend you join this gym as well. read more

Matchpoint has only recently opened up but has been phenomenal since day 1. The trainers and equipment at their fitness center are truly unmatched. The managers and employees do a outstanding job at keeping their facility clean and presentable.
