I've gone here for many, many years now, since I had my first dog, Laddie the collie, in 1993…read more I've always trusted Dr. Breitstein (ret.) and her staff, through both my previous dogs, especially my little beagle, Merlin, who lived to 12.5 years old. I'm of course bringing my new baby, Bilbo the Shetland Sheepdog, when he arrives! (He's only 7 weeks old now!) I also highly recommend Eric's Pet Conceirge Puppy Transport Company, Puppy's Breath Transport; his drivers pick the puppy up at the breeder, and drive the pooch to his new home! (413) 306-9953.

SAVE YOURSELF AND PETS. They failed to put our pet to sleep…read more We brought our dog here to be put to sleep and they failed. We ended up leaving with our dog. Of course it's one of the most difficult days a pet owner will have, this hospital made it worse and botched the procedure causing us to leave with our dog after dealing with the pain of saying goodbye. First they messed up our appointment and told us it was a week away. Instead of owning the mistake the receptionist told us it was our mistake and therefore, problem. It didn't matter that my family and I walked in with crying. We asked the receptionist if the doctor could squeeze us in or if she can call the next appointment to see if they can swap at a later time. The receptionist said no. After asking again if she could ask the vet to squeeze us in the receptionist said she'll ask but the vet won't say yes. After sometime the vet did make the accommodation to take us. After entering the room they took our dog back to start the process. Something went wrong with the needle/catheter causing massive discomfort for our dog and for her to bleed onto us while we held her waiting for the vet to come with the IV to start the process of euthanizing. After getting the catheter back in something caused them to not be able to get the IV in. I believe it was because our dog wouldn't stay still. Previous to the catheter our dog laid quietly and still in our arms for 1.5 hours. The movement from our dog likely was because of the needle/catheter that didn't take right that cause her to bleed. After sometime they gave our very small dog a sedative to help calm her down, that didn't work for far too long. This all lasted, what felt like, 30 minutes. Our dog started yelping once the catheter was in. We finally said enough is enough and left with our dog. Who knows what would've happened next. The technicalities of what went wrong and why are confusing to me. I'm not a doctor and this was already a horrible day. All that I know is this place created one of the worst days in my entire families life. Now, we have to bring ourselves to repeat the process of putting our dog to sleep.

I can't say enough about Marlboro Village Veterinary Hospital, and I am so glad I chose them. The facility is immaculate, the staff is compassionate, and Dr. Bach is someone I would recommend to anyone. If anyone has ever researched what it takes to become a veterinarian, or considered what it takes to deal with people in difficult situations, and then be willing to go forward and pursue the endeavor, they would realize how special people in this field are. Can you imagine having to diagnose a health problem with no oral feedback from the party involved? That's exactly what a veterinarian does every day, and so many times, with astounding success! I recently had to have my favorite cat euthanized after 18 years. He was my best friend and possessed an uncanny ability to read and acknowledge my darkest times when I was feeling sad and alone. He would always somehow know and come to me, when none of the other pets seemed to notice or care. He was truly special. During his last year, he finally started to fail; up to that time he was fine. When he suddenly couldn't walk one morning, I immediately knew, it was time. I made the call, hoping they would see me the same day, and graciously they fit me in at 9:30 in the morning. After a thorough discussion and observation Dr. Bach and staff did what needed to be done. Having anticipated this day as years rolled by, I thought I would handle it much easier than I did. I'm 60 and I have faced much more significant family deaths than this. Or so I thought. But anyone who has lost a special someone, whether it's a family member, a friend, or a household pet knows how difficult it is. Every detail from the initial phone call, the process of the visit, the payment, and even my exit of the building was thoughtfully considered, sparing me and the others in the waiting room [whoever they might be] any of the awkward moments that come along with it all. Remember, I have been to many vets over the years and have gone through this before. This was by far the most considerate and compassionate of sad experiences. That weekend I went to the SPCA and found a new cat. Without question I will bring him to Marlboro Veterinarian Hospital, and would urge anyone to do the same.

Dr. Bach has always been wonderful and we've had a great experience at Marlboro Village Vet over…read morethe past 6 years. Unfortunately I've decided to move on to a different clinic. A new policy requiring prepayment or a card on file before booking an appointment isn't something I'm comfortable with, especially as a loyal client of 6 years who has never missed an appointment. It feels like a blanket policy that doesn't account for the relationship we've built, and when I asked about an exception, none could be made. Prepayment before a visit isn't standard practice, and if that trust isn't mutual, it's time to take my business somewhere that values long-term clients.
