Asked the very helpful gentleman if they had any longer length overcoats, as there were only shorty ones on display. He said it was a bit early for them to be on display, but give him a minute and he would see what he could do. He shortly returned from the stock room with two coats, still in all the shrinkwrap and not yet priced up. One of them was perfect! But, I said I would like to just have a look around elsewhere first, to be absolutely sure as it wasn't cheap. He wrote the details on a card for me - no pressure, just good service. I've since found it a bit cheaper (but only a bit) online. I'm in York next week so I will go and buy it from the shop. Actually, it's full of foreign tourists as well, this being York, all wanting a slice of classic, rugged British outdoor wear. Brands include Barbour - of course - Viyella, Magee and Loake. They can literally fit you out from top to toe, from shoes or boots and socks to classic Christy and Olney hats and caps. The nice thing is that the staff are very friendly and helpful, as well as knowledgeable, and the prices actually pretty good for this sort of lifetime-lasting quality. The shop is quite small, but a great place to browse. They also do a mail order service.

To all appearances it looks a small shop but they have a good stock. They are helpfull and friendly. It is a shop you connect with quality and that is how it has allways been.Anything you buy from there will look good and people say they have things for ages and they stay looking good.This is the sort of shop we need in this town ,the kind people will come here for.

There is also an online store that I have reviewed separately, but it quite useful as new brands get added right away, allowing me to check it before I go into town to visit the store. A cut above the rest really, and I end up going in far too often and spending too much!

I would say that Greenwoods Menswear is aimed at more distinguished men with ranges in day, formal and office wear. I think the thing that sets Greenwoods above the rest is their formal hire wear, which has now been re-branded as the 1860 Formal Hire. As a family we have Hired suits for two weddings where my husband was Best Man and required top hats and tails. Not only where the suits of excellent quality and a reasonable price but fit well too.

This is a decent sized Primark store with access from two sides of Freshney place. It's all on one level and focuses on ladieswear, with smaller kids and mens departments and a very limited selection of homewares. The branch in Doncaster seems to be about 3 times the size, but if you're local to Grimsby then this is a good cheap place for budget clothes.
