I made an appointment and, as seems typical these days, had to wait for about one month before I could see a doctor. Prior to my appointment (a few days in advance) they sent me a link to complete a very lengthy medical history form (a good idea) which they said would be reviewed with the doctor on the day of my visit. On said day, I arrived about 20 minutes early, assuming I'd still have some paperwork to complete. I gave the receptionist my ID and insurance card, as requested and she scanned them both, then told me I don't have a referral from my primary care. I guess when they sent that long questionnaire, which also asked for insurance information, it didn't occur to them to confirm if I had a referral or to suggest that maybe I'll need one. OK. No problem. I immediately called my PCP and asked them to send a referral. My PCP called BUC (I was later told) and told them they're working on the referral and it would arrive in about 20 - 30 minutes. OK. I'm waiting. At the hour of the appointment time, the receptionist asked me "how sure are you that your doctor will send the referral?" She asked this as she suggested that I sign an "insurance waiver" and be seen by the doctor but I would get billed and would have to work out the payment with the insurance company later. WTF! You know I have insurance. You scanned my insurance card! You spoke to someone at my PCP's office. At about five minutes past the scheduled appointment time, she then asked me, "what do you want to do?" I said I'm not signing the insurance waiver so I guess I'll just go. And I left. I called my PCP's office and asked that they not send (or withdraw) the referral to BUC and asked about another practice that I could go to. They actually called another practice who said they could see me in relatively short order and they'd send the referral there. I look forward to hopefully a much better welcoming experience at the other practice. (And btw, the referral was indeed sent before my appointment, but it must have gone astray on BUC's end).

I chose Dr. Chang because I thought he showed genuine interest in improving my face and he seemed to really listen to my concerns. I couldn't have been more wrong. For two weeks after the surgery, the left side of my head was INTENSELY painful and continued to bleed. I had a friend take pictures, and TWO ENDS OF TWO OF THE STAPLES WERE ACTUALLY IN MY INCISION!! I actually cried out in pain when he removed them! I AM LEFT WITH ONE EAR THAT IS A HALF INCH LOWER THAN THE OTHER ONE AND NOW STICKS OUT , and MY LOBES ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT! They look like two different ears! It is VERY noticeable and now my glasses tilt! At first when I complained about my ears, he told me they were probably always like that and I just hadn't noticed! Believe me, I have scrutinized my face for OVER 50 YEARS! I know what my ears look like! Then he said he could fix them, so he knew there had been a mistake. At my visit last week when I cataloged all of the errors, he told me he would do nothing differently! He put my glasses on my face and ACTUALLYT PRESSED THE LEFT ARM DOWN ON MY HIGHER EAR TO MAKE THE GLASSES LINE UP (they didn't) to show me I was mistaken! I was stupefied! My eye doctor has never had to adjust the arms of my glasses to have them sit evenly on my face! My ears have always been even! I still have bags under my eyes, I still have loose skin under my chin, and one eye is still partially hooded. At the initial visit, he looked at the front of my head and asked me if I frequently wore my hair up, and I said yes. He then told me that he would shave my hair slightly behind the hairline above my ear to hide the scar. After the surgery when I saw that the incision had actually been placed in FRONT of my hairline, I expressed my distress; he then told me he was looking at the BACK of my head when he asked me that question. Who cares about the back of your head when you're wearing your hair up? Who would be looking there? After that, I stopped trusting him. At my last visit, I once more expressed my (now) outrage at the errors, he said he should've managed my expectations. I told him if he had told me at the beginning, at our first consult, that these errors were something I could expect from the surgery, I would've been out the door like a bat out of hell! I am so MISERABLE that I entrusted MY FACE to this doctor! I keep asking myself, Can this be fixed? Can some other plastic surgeon undo the damage caused by Dr. Chang? God, I hope so. Believe me, I pray every day that my face can be fixed. It's all I think about. I can't believe this happened. Please, women, don't be fooled by his "caring", "compassionate" demeanor. South Coast Imaging/Women's Imaging Centre were unable to deliver an appointment anywhere close to that, the best was 14 weeks, even with my doctor contacting them to try and get me in earlier time. I ended up finding a place in Brisbane, a completely different company where the wait was 4 days! The Gold Coast System appears to be very broken in my opinion.

When I googled their number I was surprised to see poor ratings, so I felt compelled to write a review. The wait time is minimal and the quality care given while at the facility is excellent. I find the front desk staff engaging, the tech is professional while taking the films, and a nice perk is that the doctors read your films while you are there. I'm in and out of the office within thirty minutes.
