During Breast Cancer awareness month, which is October, I went in to have my first mammogram in the…read morestate of Delaware. I have had them for the past 30 years in the state I moved from and I am aware of how they operate and what should and shouldn't be done. I got there for my appointment and I was called back by a technician named Courtney. She treated me like we were going through a production line. She was speaking so fast like she was auctioning off a used car going through the spiel of what a mammogram technician tells a patient. BUT she didn't ask me anything about my former breast care. She didn't ask me if I had had another mammogram at another location. She just said I saw that you haven't had a mammogram before - . I said I am 73. I've had many in the past 30 years. As she place me against the machine, she was so quick. I have never had a mammogram in less than 10 minutes. She put no bio markers at all on areas where I had had biopsies or where my moles might've looked suspicious on the Imaging - she asked me zero questions and then she started speaking so fast at the end it takes 3 to 5 business days before you'll get your results etc etc . They'll go to the portal - I had to interrupt iand say stop, please stop and let me ask a question before you finish your usual spiel to patients who are done with their mammogram. She looked at me like a deer in headlights and I just asked her could she make me a disc of the mammogram. She said I could come and pick it up the next day. I have had other mammograms and the technician said if you wait outside for about 15 to 30 minutes, I'll make it and bring it out to you - not this technician. Literally my mammogram was less than 10 minutes. Because I have fibrocystic breast, I was worried with no bio markers on either of my breasts, there might be a chance of a false positive or a false negative - both a critical to my health. I called the Imaging manager for Helen Graham and I spoke with her for about 15-20 minutes and I asked is the new procedure for mammograms where you don't bio markers on the breasts before you do the Imaging - she paused for a while and she said no we still bio markers. I said well Courtney, the technician did not bio markers. Either of my breasts - did not ask me anything about my breasts health and she did the mammogram in less than 10 minutes. The mgr said she would speak with Courtney on my experience. The manager also told me when the results come back, if I was not pleased to call her back - now isn't that an interesting statement? The results appeared maybe the next day or the day after and what really disappoints me with the Helen F Graham Cancer Center, Imaging is that the radiologist put her professional career on the line to put in the results one statement to protect Courtney- "there was a bio marker on the left breast" . I have had as I said an annual mammogram for the last 30 more years and nowhere does the radiologist make a statement that bio markers were on the breast although bio markers are placed on the breasts. This statement was to negate my question on why there were no biomarkers placed on either of my breasts. This is a big disappointment and a severe legal issue with falsifying my medical records to protect and inept mammogram technician. I would like someone high up in Imaging to know what this radiologist did by lying on my medical records. There were no bio markers placed on my breasts and the test was less than 10 minutes and I reported it to two people in Imaging about the bio markers, not being placed on my breasts. I do not trust the Helen Graham Imaging center, and I'm not sure if the patient advocate will even take this forward, but it is serious for me to even get legal involved because my medical records were falsified by the reading radiologist. I do not trust this facility at all with my health. It's a shame we pay so much for insurance and yet we still get the raw end of the stick with incompetence and lack of empathy from the staff at a cancer center during breast cancer awareness week!

Two years ago, I had my prostate removed at another local facility but the cancer came back, much to my disappointment. I did some research and found that the UMD ran a Radiation Center at Union Hospital in Elkton. I scheduled an appointment with Union Hospital and Dr. Agarwal and began my treatment. Dr. Agarwal, his support staff of nurses and radiation therapist were very professional, very knowledgeable and had an upbeat, positive attitude that made me upbeat and positive in that I was getting the best treatment by the best team around. I would highly recommend them for those seeking radiation treatment.

He went out of his way to explain processes and procedures in a way that I could understand them, even drew diagrams for me, and didn't once act like any of my questions were stupid. Scheduling with him takes the weight off your shoulders because he thinks two steps ahead. I'm getting a procedure done in a few weeks and he has everything up to my two week post checkup already on the books. This is definitely super helpful and keeps some of my stress level down. If you need to be here, Dr. Ferriss and his team have great bedside manner and that makes even the worst things a whole lot better.

You will get the same Doctors, smaller office, better parking, FREE parking, less hassle, more intimate setting, and easier communication. Now...the initial appointment may take a "minute" to get, but once you become a Hopkins patient you are in! They link to your Hopkins Primary care and other Specialist. All are linked with a database called MY CHART which allows test results, questions, medical records, etc to be centralized. The chemo room (if you need it) hopefully you won't, but is small and quiet. They have private curtains and some private rooms. The nurses are all really nice. The number one positive is the Doctors. The level of intelligence will blow you away. These Doctors are trained and they are constantly researching new methods. If you need a miracle....I personally think they can help. The only minus star..as it seems in all medical offices..is that the Receptionist are not super friendly. For some reason, I am finding this the norm. Overall...I would take this location over downtown any day!
