Many…read morepeople have told me that schools in the Mainland are nothing like Hawaii, and I'm sure that is true, but still, I wanted to send my daughter to a private school. We looked and looked and looked. There were many schools that looked good, but their class sizes were so big with only one teacher I was concerned my daughter would get lost in the crowd and would not be able to get what she needs in education. I came across Brownell Talbot in my research and remembered that a few of my classmates from Creighton went there and they were super well rounded individuals, so, I made my husband take us to the open house :) At the school, we found out that their class sizes in the elementary were usually around 10-18 students with two teachers per class. They have a well rounded curriculum where they have everything like math, art, history, but they also learn French, and for PE they learn swimming! That's way more than I ever had in Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten! Well, I finally ended up convincing my husband that we needed to send our daughter here! All the teachers she has had so far were amazing! They are so friendly and caring and definitely know how to teach young children. My daughter always comes home telling us all of the new things she has learned at this school! We love Brownell Talbot and as long as we live in the Omaha area, our daughter will go here.

I did a little digging on TikTok too. There has been at least 1 suicide in the past few years. I found the name of one student, I'm trying to find one I heard about from 2018-2019. My kid goes here and he's been dealing with bullying. The school insists they do not allow bullying. I wish they'd open their eyes and stop denying there's a problem here. Teachers I've spoken with says Buffett used to be a good school until 4-5 ish years ago. They all say the same things. I've been doing a lot of digging lately because of the stuff my kid has been going through. The stuff OPS allows is absolutely sickening. The ratings for the entire district are well below average. This school in particular practices collective punishment- punishing an entire grade for the actions of a few. They took snack time away from every kid in 7th grade because they had problems with some kids popping chip bags. The email went out to only 7th grade students, not parents. Collective punishment is what they do in the military it's not meant for children in school. It is a lazy way of not getting to the bottom of a real issue and promotes bullying. It also creates resentment from the students who do nothing wrong. Of all the things good students do for this school, punishing them when the typical problem kids mess up, is wrong.

not gonna get into too much detail with a 1 billion word essay but first off, the administration is…read morevery bad if you had to look at it based on the perspective of an average non gifted or non honors student whatever. admin played favorites with the goodie goodie two shoes kids that had the A+ grades, let A LOT of things slide that shouldnt have. they didnt do anything to minimize bullying teasing and ect. they only help if you are already at the top, if you are in a bad position (WITH GRADES ONLY NOT MENTIONING ANYTHING ELSE RN) they barely help with that. there were constant fights between staff and students and same with between students and students. they spent money on unnecessary shii like a school dance for exclusively for the 8th graders at the end of the year (IT COSTED LIKE 20 DOLLARS TO ENTER FOR 1 PERSON), like i felt more happy for the morton 8th grade 2023-2024 year's middle school graduation than my own year (2024-2025), idk why they wanted to make unnecessary bs like that hopefully they dont do it again if they are gonna have a fundraiser (they used one to fund the STUPID ASS 8th grade exclusive dance that costed 30931391 dollars per person) they better put it to good or atleast better use. also there was a ton of fights in the 22-23 and 23-24 year, not that many happened in the 24-25 year but still was concerning on how many there were. the building is old af and musty and smelled weird most of the time (idk if they have fixed that but it was like that when i went there). also the food was HGDHDAAHAHHHHHAHHHHHHHH pure sludge my friends got fatter and unhealthier because of it. also my brother cold me a staff confiscated one of his friends sprites and money and they saw them drinking the same sprites and the money was NEVER found. also he once got accused of doing something he didnt with a group of his friends and this one specific staff probably only believed the girls who "snitched" (wasnt true LMAO) because they were white probably LMAO racist ahh EXPOSED (imagine an exaggerated roblox ahh drama yt thumbnail or something) alot of the bathrooms were vandalized part on the students but also part on the staff since they didnt give af it seemed shame on them for not even trying to correct bad behavior which they say themselves, THEY TRY AND FOCUS ON LEADING STUDENTS ONTO THE CORRECT PATH (something like that which is saying they want to correct bad behavior). bathrooms didnt have soap (eww) and some not even toilet paper (eww!) and one time my friend said he walked inside one of the bathrooms and there was LITERAL SHI ON THE SMACK MIDDLE OF THE GROUND (EWWWWW!!). okay might've been lied a bit about not yapping alot but i lowkirkenuely could've made it 10x longer.

Wait wait, I never reviewed my high school? Well, I guess I shall. Sure, I went here many moons…read moreago. But I'm still part of their community on social media and love being able to continually connect with past grads. I may be a little biased, but there is not better high school in the Omaha area. My 4 years here were INCREDIBLE. Amazing classes, teachers, students, and activities. I basically started my nonprofit career here whilst a student. I was able to volunteer and be a leader for many awesome opportunities and local nonprofits. And Mr. Baker fully cemented my commitment to politics and advocacy. I still have a massive collection of t-shirts from my years here - Spanish Club, after prom, class shirts, etc. Want to be prepared for college? Look no further. AP and honors classes galore. Want to do sports? Marian is the winning school with some of the best coaches. Want a sense of community and connections that'll last a lifetime? Oh that's definitely Marian. I still know the "Marian beat" by heart. And you've never seen a Field Day like what it is at Marian. Just going to Marian puts you in a special club with connections and friendships and community that last a lifetime. I tell everyone to go here. And I shall continue to do so. And oh my how the campus has grown and just gotten better! It's an absolutely stellar opportunity and experience.
