Steve came out for an estimate right away. A few days later I called with some follow up questions and he promptly got back to me, took his time and answered all my question. They were never pushy like other big companies. Install appointment was quickly scheduled once I was ready and they came out 2 days after I called. Please note that this is not a review of the quality of work done by any technicians from Master Garage Door, nor is it a review the promptness with which they keep appointments. I did not have any services done by them; through I tried to make an appointment. They are busy and that may reflect very positively on the quality of their work. This IS a review of their initial customer contact process and their apparent interest in helping. I did try to make an appointment. My garage door slipped several rollers off the track, and the cable that helps lift the door came off the drum. The door now cannot be closed completely. I had this happen years ago, and because the door wouldn't close completely, wildlife got into my garage, ate through the drywall in the ceiling, and tried to make a home in my attic. So as one might infer, I am anxious to get my garage door repaired soon. I'd rather not deal with a similar situation. According to the Yelp review, Master Garage Door provides its services mostly in the Brandon area. However, the reviews were all very positive so I called to see if they also serviced the south Tampa area. I live near MacDill AFB and only a few blocks from Hillsborough Bay, so there is relatively easy access to my house. When I called Master Garage Door, the receptionist who answered the phone was not very helpful and did not seem all that interested in helping me resolve my problem. She said they didn't often work in the south Tampa area, and due to other appointments, they could not possibly respond until the end of the week, and likely not until sometime next week. While I said I understood completely, I explained what was driving my problem, and why I was feeling some urgency in getting the work done sooner than that. She said she was sorry, but could not help me. When I asked for some recommendations / names of other companies who might be able to respond more quickly, she recoiled like I had asked for lessons on how to rob banks and steal money from children. She said. "Oh, no, I can't possibly give you any names of other companies. No, I can't do that." I explained that I am retired military, and that I now own a small safety and security consulting company. Service to the public is what we do. If for some reason, I cannot meet the needs of a potential customer, due to a scheduling conflict, or perhaps because what the customer needs is not part of the services we supply, I will absolutely give them names of other companies or people I think might be able to help them. I know many of the other companies we compete against, and I know which ones provide quality work, and which ones do not meet the standards we strive to live up to. Anyway, none of that seemed to matter and she was still unwilling to help. That seems so strange to me. If I help someone, even if it is only to provide the information that eventually leads to them finding someone else to resolve their problem, then I have done a good thing. I haven't lost business to someone else. I have helped them find new business. Perhaps in a different situation, my competitors will do the same thing and recommend my company. In summary, if you need garage door services, Master Garage Door may be a good option, especially if you live in the Brandon area. But I wish you luck if you happen to initially contact the woman I spoke to. read more

Went to go to work at 7:30 am. Pressed the button to open the garage to drive to work and heard a big pop and the garage door would not open. There was a roller piece on the driveway that came off and a cable was hanging down. Called last company to work on door and they told me they were to busy to come today. I was working in my office last evening when I heard a large boom from the garage. I tried to open the garage door but to no avail, and noticed the garage door spring was broken. Wow - two great experiences with Master Garage Door Co within a week #1 - Garage door spring on a rental property failed the day before Thanksgiving and I am headed to the airport. I gave them a call and they quickly reached out to the tenant and found a workable time for both parties. They were then able to provide me with an overview of the issue and a fair quote over the phone within minutes of arriving to the house. Payment was handled and the work was done right as I boarded my plane. #2 - Tenant called this AM and said the garage door was now going up and down by itself. I called Master Garage Door Co expecting the worst. They again found a workable time with the tenant and dispatched a truck. The service guy just called and said the button on the remote appears to be stuck and it's causing the garage to go up and down (so completely unrelated to last issue).
