HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! Our vehicle broke down while traveling, we coasted into another repair shop's lot thinking we couldnt believe our luck, only to have Ralph of Ralph & Sons refuse to help us! We called Master Auto Repair and they were more than accomodating and empathetic to our emergency! AAA had us towed from Ralphs to Master Auto and because they are certified through AAA, we received a 10% discount and they even double checked all of our fluids and tire pressure before pickup, just knowing we were traveling! This repair shop has bad business ethics. One of the higher ups implied that I was a liar and lying about the estimate and prices I was told on the phone by the Assistant GM of which the Assistant GM knew I wasn't lying but chose not to speak up and do the right thing. They should be ashamed for trying to scam people the way they do. I was referred here and I am greatly disappointed and won't be returning. They probably do not care if I do or don't return but at least care about having good ethics. A business without ethics is no better than a common thief. The person who referred me spent about 2k on repairs just for them to have messed up her car even more and tell her that she needed more repairs. Good help is hard to find. Do better. read more

I paid them over $1600.00 to have a new heater core put in my car & yet I still have no heat in my car. I'm only able to drive my car when it's 50 degrees or higher I took my car to multiple certified mechanics and was told that my heater core was never switched out for a new one. That truly hurt my heart. When I went back in there to address the problem and told them this was unacceptable. They told me that the warrenty wouldn't cover another heater core due to stop leak being put in. Since they were the only repair shop that had touched my car for a few years, that's seriously impossible. They refused to make the situation right. Unfortunately this was not the 1st time they were dishonest with me. I was beyond hurt and had to give it over to God. This was hands down the worst consumer experience I have ever had. This place was a horrible experience and you should go to Dobbs. First, my battery light came on & they checked it out said my battery was fine...the codes all checked out. So I had to pay them 49.00 for the check out. Then finally my car died downtown St. Louis..I had it towed to Master because I thought, well the codes will not check out fine now,...It was dead. On Thursday at 2:30 Pm it's dropped off & Ryan tells me you need an appt. & I said, my car died..I had no time to make an appt....he'll said we'll try to get it in on Friday to diagnose it. At 2:30 on Friday..it still had not been brought into the bay. It sat there all day for nothing. I quickly called Collinsville Dobbs..they said if you can get it to us by 6pm we'll work it in on Sat. FOR YOUR INFO...MASTER AUTO only works Mon-Fri...they have their weekends off & customers are screwed. Dobbs said we use Mc Lannahan towing..I called them (from work, no less)....guy said we'll get it right over there & put the bill on your Dobbs bill..by the time I got off work & my son picked me up & drove me to Dobbs...a mechanic was PULLING MY VAN INTO A BAY TO CHECK IT OUT!!!.....I WAS STUNNED..THAT WAS CUSTOMER SERVICE!! So then a short time later the mechanic called & said..the battery is dead...we'll put in a new one & see if it was just that or possibly an alternator. FACE IT FOLKS...you either pay in time or money. Now I've just received the call back & it WAS the alternator that kept draining my battery! So GIVE DOBBS YOUR BUSINESS...THEY ARE FAST, PROFESSIONAL & WORK ON SATURDAYS for the little guy!!! This has got to be the BEST mechanic ever!!!! My husband and I were traveling from Indiana to Arizona when our windshield wiper arm broke. Master Auto Repair in Collinsville, Illinois was my "go to" auto repair shop for quite a few years. It has only been recently that I have decided to let another business in town work on my car and my wife's truck. I have always been okay with the quality of work that was done in the past, but not too happy with the final bill. While Master Auto Repair is definitely less expensive than the main automobile dealers themselves, I tend to think that I'm getting a better deal at my new mechanic. read more

Always very professional. Helpful. They do sometimes try to get you to do a couple more things to your car if it's in the shop. But, they also take no thanks well and do not continue to up sales you. I take my car to them for oil changes, tire rotations, and other car problems. My check engine light came on and I called them Friday morning. They fit me in and my car was finished before they closed that night. They explained to me exactly what the problem was on the phone before they started their repairs. They gave me a complete quote and stood by the price when I picked up my car. I go there for all my car needs! read more

you can never trust a mechanic is the popular adage and i tell you that this shop makes it true. i went in for an oil change which they were the cheapest and did it quite quickly which speaks volumes for their service techs... here is where it gets crazy, 3 days ago i set the appointment to get the oil change and a possible diagnostic done for the check engine light; my exact words were, i need the oil change but im gonna call around for the diagnostic; how much do you guys charge? to which he replied it starts out at 45 for the first level diagnostic and gos upto 180 for the next level. not knowing what these things cost and based on the price of the oil change i thought that was pretty reasonable so i decided to have them do it once my appointment came up. i get there today and ask if he can still do the diagnostic to which he replied it will be 89 to start out with and it goes up from there depending on if they found the problem and as an added bonus they didn't even remember my appointment... thats double the first price i was given. so i finally called around and found out that most places don't even charge you for a diagnostic. Its mechanics like this that give honest mechanics a bad name. they have a special torment awaiting them in the mechanic afterlife. To their credit they were the cheapest oil change and did provide a walk around check of my vehicle which was awesome. read more
