Massey (almost) refuses to honor written contract (updated 5/28/25) No matter how many times I call Massey, they refuse to honor the contract I paid for and perform a spring aeration on my lawn with Massey Services - GreenUp Central Villages Service Center - 4087 E County Rd 462 , Wildwood FL 34785. Annual aeration is important, as Massey's website states, "Annual lawn aeration to create healthy roots, protect ground water and stimulate better utilization of water by your lawn". My "Landscape Service Agreement", from Massey, has a "Monthly Landscape Service" section that explicitly includes "Annual aeration". But, no matter how many times I call Massey, they keep telling me that someone is coming out to do the aeration but no one ever shows up. 5/2/25 I called Massey and spoke with Sid (who is very nice on the phone) - she said they are scheduling aerations for the middle of May but do not have the schedule yet. Sid will call back when they are making up the schedule. -- No one called me back. 5/13/25 Since it is now the middle of May and no one has called be back, I call Massey and speak with Kensey (who is very nice on the phone) - she said that my aeration is scheduled for next week. She will add it to the my service list on the website. -- Aeration was added to my account "upcoming services" listing for 5/21. 5/21/25 -- No one showed up to aerate the lawn. 4:30 PM I called Massey and Kensey said the aeration is now scheduled for Friday 5/23. 5/23/25 7:36 AM I called Massey to verify that someone is coming out to aerate my lawn, per the updated scheduled data. I spoke with John Peters (area manager) who said he will speak with someone to come out and get the aeration done today. -- No one showed up to do aeration. 5/23/25 2:32 PM I called Massey again to verify that someone is coming out to do aeration and was told that the crews are out working until dark. -- No one showed up to do aeration -- Now, my online "upcoming services" listing doesn't even show aeration as an upcoming service. 5/24 9:50 AM Called Massey and they are closed (Saturday) but I was told that the crews are still out working. I left a message to have let me know when aeration will be done. -- No one showed up to do aeration. So, in summary: - Massey does not provide customers with the services in their written contract. - Customer requests for contracted service are scheduled but not performed. - When calling for status of expected service, no one has a definitive schedule or contact with employees in the field. - The online customer portal showing "upcoming services" can inexplicably be updated with services cancelled for no reason. - It appears that Massey is willing to collect annual contract fees but not perform the contacted work. --------------------- 5/27 7:10 AM Jeremy Giles, Massey landscaping division manager, left a message that he will be out to do the aeration today. 5/27 9:45 AM Jeremy showed up and did a nice job aerating the lawn. He said he was out at the beginning of the month, due to his wife going into labor. My aeration job was supposed to be assigned to him but it was not. Another year same old Massey. I had an appointment today with Massey and they were a no show. I stayed home all day and they didn't show. I talked with customer service and one person said they would be here in an hour they didn't show. Called again they said they said they would be here in a 1/2 hour they didn't show. I watched time and again in my neighborhood that the workers would park their truck , stick signs into the yards and drive away just like they did to me. I called, they would not send anyone to come inside to deal with bugs despite the fact that i already paid them. the workers do not know anything about whats going on with your lawn, failed to diagnose the problem and allowed it to get totally out of hand. Pest Control - spot on, highly recommend. Lawn care - When and IF they show up they are below average. Mowing is fine, but weed whacking is subpar. Irrigation = irresponsible! I didn't think you could sink lower than the lawn care! Two months for them to respond to a "leak" they said we had, only to find out there was no leak and we prepaid for the service. Paid for quarterly hedge trimming with my lawn care. They bill like clockwork, but don't do the Work ! Call endlessly but they never show up. We have to call them when we see weeds. We have to tell them where they are at - they come and ONLY do the ones we've scoped out for them no more. They don't bother to look to make sure there are no more which there were. We had to call twice for clover in the lawn. We had mole crickets starting - we also had to call them even though they are supposed to monitor our lawn but monthly. If we are watching for weeds why do we need them? Lawn needs fertilizer which Massey is also supposed to do. They've just dropped the ball on caring since we started with them years ago. We used to have the best lawn on the street but not anymore. Other people on the street have also changed services because of lack of care. We're leaving also. read more

Apparently the previous owners used Massey for lawn, irrigation , pest and termite. I've been here 2 years. The lawn people sprayed/put stuff down on the front yard and killed big patches of grass so after they did not care to fix it I got someone else to care for the lawn. Massey came out 3 weeks ago to cap off some unneeded sprinklers. They did not have enough equipment to finish the job plus one sprinkler head had roots growing so they were going to come back later that week with help to finish the job but left the big hole with no cover over it. They turned the whole system off and even after repeated requests for them to finish the job they have not done so Now the frontward especially that the new yard person was able to make green again is dying due to no sprinklers and very very little rain. Also called yesterday about the ants in the house and they assured me someone would be out today. Just called to see if I was "still on the list for today" and they said they didn't receive the notice. As soon as I can find someone else to manage the irrigation they are done. As a former employee of this company, I completely agree with the majority of the comments and reviews left on this site. While the work is subpar, the overall attitude and morale of the workplace is severely lacking. In terms of training and encouragement, this place displays very little of each. The office manager in Wildwood is completely unprofessional and petty. If turning people off and making them extremely uncomfortable in the workplace by their rudeness is their goal, then I give the place 5 stars in that respect. read more

Massey irrigation manager, James came over and repaired all 5 missed sprinklers and checked all the rest. The next day he sent his coworker over to back fill the new sprinkler heads with top soil. Everything is now working and spraying in the correct direction. We are very happy with Massey Irrigation Service. Unfortunately the salesman missed a few of the sprinkler heads on the original agreement. read more

Avoid!!!!! Poor knowledge of proper grass maintenance. Our grass condition is in very bad condition. Poor costumer service. Borderline fraudulent billing practices. We've had Massey lawn service for 1 year. Throughout this time, we've expressed our dissatisfaction with the regressing condition of our grass. Expressed to several techs and even manager. No resolution. As our term was coming to an end, we were hoping to switch to a different company. We had lawn service come today and received a bill. I inquired about the bill and was told that my 1 year was up. I stated that I have not renewed, so why would you come out. The annoyed costumer service agent said that if I had read the agreement on the back it states that I do not need to renew and they will continue to come out until someone calls the office to stop the services. She proceeds with "this happens all the time where people call in once they receive the bill because they never called to stop services." I was puzzled by this! I had these thoughts: 1. I had to sign an agreement for services for 1 year. So why would the services continue, if not renewed? 2. If I were terminally ill, passed away or sold the property: the services would continue forever and ever? 3. If this happens all the time, it means that the problem exists with other costumers and needs to be rectified by appropriate education of clients. 4. Or they don't want the problem to be rectified as it results in higher charges. Furthermore, she states that I need to speak to a manger to cancel my services. Interesting- your technicians willingly show up after the agreement date has ended AND make it difficult for me to cancel. So, I speak to a manager - he states that he remembers my property and having spoken to by significant other- which he says he's explained everything to- but maybe shouldn't have spoken to him- insinuating that my significant other did not have the aptitude to understand information. The manager remembers my property because we have made several complaints regarding the status of the grass! He states yes complaints were made but NO ONE CALLED IN TO CANCEL- if we were unhappy. Apparently, speaking to the manager in person does not qualify. You have to speak to him on the phone. I rarely leave comments, but I believe this company warrants further investigation. I live in a community with an older demographic and it made me think that these kind of billing practices prey on the elderly, who might not realize why/how they are being billed for services. I cannot recommend Massey if you plan to use them as a "one stop shop". We used them for everything: lawn (and service on that was subpar, with only one weeding and uneven lawn), pest, irrigation and termite (despite them not having a record of it, even though we have the paperwork). We only had them for three months and only found consistent billing issues which was a result of the right hand not talking to the left. It took 2 weeks to get a call back upon our realizing the issues (the only reason I did get a call back seems to be because I left a review and caught someone's attention). I gave them a second chance and alas, more billing issues along with a threatening collection call for services that had already been pre-paid or even worse, double billed (they wanted $60 for one day of mowing, for example). Making matters worse, we (stupidly) tried to add a service and that came with a no show and no call to explain that they would no show. It took them a day to figure out why there was a no show (the tech was sick and we waited for two days for them to figure it out). Life happens but no one bothered to tell us. We had to continually chase and keep every piece of paper to reconcile the billing. We wanted a one stop shop to make it easier on us but it just ended up in more confusion for them and as a result us. I can't in good conscience recommend their services. Now we are farming the services out to three places but at least they show up and bill us correctly. The office is a mess, it seems, because they treat each area like completely separate companies. It negated why we went with one company. When I indicated my frustration, the office would claim it wasn't their fault because it wasn't their division. A lot of finger pointing but not a lot of solutioning. UPDATE: I'm still getting bills for services that were supposedly credited months ago. I'm still getting collections calls. Every time I call them they say that the credit should have been issued and there's a note on my account to indicate 1) the credit 2) the fact that I should not be bothered with phone calls. And yet they still come. They are billing me for a service that they didn't perform. I guess it's better than getting billed $60 for every single one-time mow, but it still is crazy how inept this company is to do maintain their accounting. - Update to my update - received a call from the regional manager that I will receive a letter indicating the $0 balance. I will update once this occurs. When we had other people come in for quotes, they brought samples to us of bug-ridden and disease-ridden bushes. So after all was said and done Massey didn't help at all. The only good part was the salesman. He was great. If he leaves Massey I would most likely go with wherever he goes! read more

Came back 3 times to correct, but by then I had realized this would be an ongoing issued and cancelled services. I like others, thought one stop shopping sounded good so hired them to do it all. They left so many weeds around my yard I had to hire another company to come out and do the weeding that I had already paid Massey to do. They claimed they spray the small weeds and pull the big weeds. Wrong. I requested a refund for the year in advance I paid after cancelling all services. Four months later, I'm still waiting. I call every week. They tell me the refund is in process. Disputed the charges with my bank, they quickly responded to the bank with a photo copy of the contract I signed like an idiot. Once you sign, apparently they don't have to hold up their end of the contract. If you move....you are stuck paying for that year. I know most pest control services require an annual contract and I have never had any problems with other providers, so I saw no need to be cautious about MASSEY. They are quick to take your money, not so quick to refund it if you are not pleased with their shoddy work. AVOID MASSEY!!!
