Ed Massey and Tim Allen (with the Massey Allen Group) were great. I chose them because they helped me purchase the home in Concord, CA that I was selling 8yrs later and trusted they would do a fantastic job. They are very good at communicating through out the entire process and making sure you fully understand what is going on every step of the way. Ed went above and beyond to help me feel comfortable with showing my house while still living in it. I would definitely recommend them to friends and family! read more

Tim Allen was introduced to me by both my sone and daughter who used him in their real estate transactions. I found Tim to be very knowledgeable and extremely responsive. Tim Allen Jr. of the Massey Allen Group was the real estate agent for the December 2025 purchase by Myself and my parents of a Townhouse-style in Walnut Creek, Ca., 94598. I first retained Tim in late 2024 to help me look at homes in the Walnut Creek area that were within my price range. At that time, we looked at some places, but I did not see anything that suited my personal tastes and my price range. At that time, Tim impressed me as personable, professional and knowledgeable; at no time did he do anything but have me look and tell him if I had any interest. I never felt any pressure to consider an offer on something I had looked at. I decided to stop looking for the moment but asked Tim to keep me informed of any places that came up for sale in a particular community in Walnut Creek that appealed to me, and he agreed to do so. In November 2025, Tim alerted me to ma property in that community that had not yet come on the market but soon would. Tim showed us the place, and ultimately helped me and my parents put together an offer before the property came on the market. The purchase/sale closed on December 22, 2025. I and my parents are of the opinion that Tim did an outstanding job. Tim was personable but professional and seemingly on good terms with the sellers' agent, resourceful, focused, diligent, and very knowledgeable about both homes and the surrounding schools and services in the area, and about all aspects of the buy-sell activities, negotiations and agreements relating to our purchase, including inspections, interactions with the sellers' agent, necessary documents to review and potential issues to be addressed. Tim was timely and substantively responsive in his work with respect to all of our questions, suggestions and requests, available at virtually at times, and receptive to our concerns. He provided us with all the needed documents and information, recommended quality home inspectors, explained forms that we needed to sig and the significance of disclaimers that we received. Tim was actively engaged in any negotiations, and made sound, informed recommendations, all while understanding that we, as the clients, made the final decision. He assisted us in securing home owners insurance coverage, and interfaced with our mortgage lender. Tim also was candid when a questions arose as to which he was uncertain of the answer, and assisted us in finding the proper resource to do so. In sum, Tim efficiently guided us through the entire purchase process with the professionalism that one expects from a high quality real estate agent. In terms of the biggest obstacle that Tim helped us address, there were two. The first was the discovery of needed repairs for safety and property preservation purposes that had not been disclosed by the sellers or their inspection people, and negotiations over a return of certain monies from the sellers to address same. Tim handles those negotiations very well. The second concerned timely securing requisite home owners' insurance. Given the fact the community is technically comprised of 88 units of quasi-townhouses with a HOA and substantial common grounds, and the fact some portions of the structure and grounds were the HOA's responsibility and some that of the individual lot owners, the interplay between the HOA's insurance and the coverage needed by the individual home/lot owners, was complicated, and difficult to understand and address. Again, Tim ensured that we communicated with the right people to address and resolve our questions. I and my parents highly recommend Tim's services as a real estate agent who anyone who inquires. read more

Tim Allen and Ed Massey of the Massey Allen Group helped us sell our home in Alamo, CA this year. They were polite, knowledgeable and professional; they also made themselves readily available throughout the whole process. Before putting our house on the market, it needed some repairs and they were able to refer us to a team of experts to help streamline the workload. It's worth mentioning that one of the reasons we chose Compass was their Concierge program which allowed us to borrow money at 0% interest to make the necessary repairs and upgrades to our home. The loan is then simply paid off at close of escrow. Overall, we were very pleased with all aspects of the transaction. Our biggest hindrance to a quick sale was the high interest rates available to buyers at the time, but Tim and Ed walked us through the stats on a regular basis and were able to create a strategy to bring in more than one interested party in a difficult sellers market. We would absolutely recommend the Massey Allen Group to someone interested in buying or selling a home in this area. read more

My husband and I successfully sold our townhome in August, 2025 in Pleasant Hill, CA in order to move closer to family in Ohio. The process began in November, 2024 when our Ohio realtor referred us to her company's affiliate, the Massey Allen Group, Compass Realty, in Walnut Creek, CA. We had interviewed three realtors from different companies in the East Bay, all of whom were professional and personable. However, Ed Massey and Tim Allen, of the Massey Allen Group, Compass Realty were especially impressive and laid out a strategy that seemed to best meet our needs and hopes. They took the time to explain the different phases of the process. Tim Allen, the one with the technical expertise while Ed Massey was attentive to all our real estate questions and concerns, and made us confident about getting through to the Closing. It was a most challenging transaction on many levels, through his persistence and great negotiation skills, Ed Massey got us through to the finish line in a difficult down market; we even got an offer over list price! The Massey Allen Group is a great two-person team and they knocked it out of the park for us. I would definitely recommend them to my closest friends. They are friendly, caring, professional, and were available on a weekly, often a daily basis to get us through to a successful Closing. They make our dream come true of being close to our children and grandchildren again! With fond regards and deep appreciation, Rachel and Steve in Pleasant Hill, CA read more

We found the Massey Allen group because my friend referred me to Tim Allen and Ed Massey and spoke about the wonderful job they did with her family's home. As first time homebuyers, it is a difficult process to navigate and figure out what aspects of the home were our wants, needs and fit it within our budget while understanding the large stack of documents and details behind every home. Tim made sure we understood every step of the process, kept us informed and was very timely to respond. It was a highly competitive market in the Tri-valley area with limited inventory, but he helped us close on our first home to start our family in Dublin, California!! We 100% trust Tim and felt him always advocating for us throughout the process. I highly recommend the Massey Allen Group and will absolutely be coming back when we are ready to buy or sell homes in the future. A big THANK YOU to Tim, Ed & team!! read more

It was such a pleasure to work with Ed Massey on a recent purchase transaction. As a lender, the goal is to always work as a team with our real estate partners and Ed was a great teammate. He was always available to talk and work together to get our clients to the finish line. It truly makes a difference working with a realtor who understands the current market while being personable with excellent communication. I would not hesitate to recommend Ed and his team in the future! read more

Tim Allen Jr. was recommended to us by an old colleague of mine, and I am so glad that he was! Tim and the Massey Allen Group were just a dream to work with. My husband and I decided we wanted to buy real estate for our family in the Danville/Alamo area-- Tim was the first person I contacted. We ended up finding our dream home for an amazing price thanks to Tim's negotiation skills and strong rapport with listing agents in the area. Our house is on a hillside, so the maintenance was more complex than we are typically used to. Because of this, Tim made sure to recommend appropriate additional inspections to protect our interests-- about halfway through I stopped looking into things myself because we trusted Tim to tell us what to do. He will always advocate for his buyers-- the exact opposite of agents that just want to make a quick buck. Not to mention he is literally the most responsive person ever....nights, weekends..even holidays. TEN OUT OF TEN would recommend Tim and the Massey Allen Group and will definitely be using Tim again when we decide to sell our other bay area home. read more

We partnered with the Massey Allen Group to sell our Vacaville home. What we appreciate about Ed Massey and Tim Allen is over the years they have been a resource for all things real estate and most importantly advice on our plans/ goals. The service we received is top notch and continues to exceed our expectations each time. We have worked with them for about 15 years over multiple transactions. Their follow up and keeping up appraised of information before we even think to ask for it continues to impress. Ed Massey and Tim Allen helped us to keep our nerves in line by coaching us on the market dynamics and to reach our goals, which we did. Once the transaction began it was very smooth as Ed and Tim had set the process in motions months before with their preparation stage. The devil really is in the details and Ed/ Tim know this well. They positioned us for maximum success with proper expectations. Ed and Tim gave us options each step of the way and let us make informed decisions while protecting our money during the process from start to finish. read more

We originally contacted the Massey Allen Group after analyzing recent sales in our area and identifying the agents that had what we thought were the best results for the sellers. Ed and Tim came to our house. We liked their presentation and analysis of the market, and they seemed like nice, straight-forward people. Ed and Tim constantly kept us informed with new market analysis during a difficult market. We liked their frank opinions and the fact that they always explained our options along with the pros and cons. After every visit by a potential buyer, they gave us feedback. At the same time, they always made it clear that we were in the driver's seat and they respected our decisions. Overall, they helped us navigate a slow market that faced the headwinds of rising interest rates in a city that was increasingly the subject of negative press. They guided us through difficult negotiations with the seller. They plowed through when the management company for the condo association threw obstacles in the way which threatened the closing. The management company created very real challenges for us and the Massey Allen Group cheerfully slugged through to make the closing happen. For that, we are very thankful. It is easy to sell a house in a booming market. The real test comes during tough markets like we faced. We would definitely recommend the Massey Allen Group. read more

Tim Allen, Jessica Gourlay, and the Massey Allen Group helped us sell our house a couple months ago in Pittsburg, CA. They were amazing to work with and provided great advice throughout the selling process. It was very nice to have a team in our corner that went above and beyond to take care of us. Tim was very responsive and was always available to answer our questions and address our concerns. We were on a very short timeline and the team was immensely helpful in guiding us on what repairs/updates would be most beneficial. They helped us get the most out of our house and sell it faster than we had anticipated. We would highly recommend anyone looking to buy or sell a home contact the Massey Allen Group. read more

We recently were fortunate enough to work with Ed Massey of the Massey Allen Group in finding our dream home. After going through a new home construction purchase attempt disaster, we were referred to Ed by our lender since we were using the VA loan program, and we were told that Ed had extensive experience working with VA buyers. Boy, were they right on the money about Ed and his team. Ed was so knowledgeable with VA processes and requirements which helped us speed up the home buying process and experience. Ed and his team were first and foremost, 100% professional. They always treated us with respect and were always available for our questions and requests for potential home tours morning, afternoon, and evening. To us, they are a 5 star hotel experience of real estate agents. The biggest obstacle Ed and his team helped us overcome was time. By the time we engaged with Ed, he took us on as clients knowing we needed to be out of our previous home in 2 and a half months, and yet, Ed and his team were not discouraged and instead determined. Ed and his team took us on multiple home tours practically everyday, and within 2 weeks time of searching, we were in contract, and within 30 days, we were able to close on our dream home in the ultra home buying/selling competitive city of Danville, CA with time to spare to be out of our previous home. With all of this said, we would highly recommend Ed Massey and the Massey Allen Group. They were the most professional, organized, knowledgeable, experienced, empathetic, and honest realtors we have ever worked with. We plan on using them the next time we have the need to sell/buy a home, but you will be in not good hands, but great hands with Ed and the Massey Allen Group the next time you need to buy/sell a home. - Ernie and Paula Hernandez read more

My husband and I met Ed Massey of the Massey Allen Group at an open house when we were just starting our housing search. As first time buyers we were a little overwhelmed about where and how to start and we knew finding a good realtor we could trust was one of our first steps. We met up with Ed over coffee and talked through the whole process of home buying. He answered all of our questions and brought up considerations we hadn't thought about. He also took the time to do a practice run and explain all the different paperwork and disclosures we would need to read, analyze, and sign when making and having an offer accepted. This made the whole thing much more of an educated process. We felt like Ed and his partner Tim Allen were great resources during house hunting and went to bat for us when negotiating. We ended up buying a property in Clayton, California that we are very happy with. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Massey Allen Group to other buyers! read more

I recently partners with Tim Allen Jr. and the Massey Allen Group to buy my first home in Walnut Creek, California. The Massey Allen Group was recommended to us by a friend and coworker who also recently relocated to California from Massachusetts, and we are so thrilled they were recommended to us. Tim took the time to understand what we were looking for, what was important to us, gave us honest feedback regarding our wish list for our home, and his knowledge of the areas is unparalleled! He helped us prioritize all of these factors and was flexible in order to help us get into our first home from across the country by making himself readily available, providing candid feedback, and sometimes administering a dose of reality! The biggest hurdle Tim helped us overcome was the realization on what we absolutely needed from our home, and where we were willing to compromise. I am happy to say Ed Massey and Tim Allen were here for us through the whole process and we are so happy with our first home in Walnut Creek! I would absolutely recommend Tim and the Massey Allen Group at Compass to anyone looking to buy a home in the Contra Costa area. read more

I've known Ed Massey personally and professionally for over 10 years. We worked together when I was in a previous role, and I utilized his services to sell dozens of homes across the Bay Area. I've since changed professions, but when it was time to sell my home, I knew that Ed and Tim were the Realtors I wanted representing me and my property. They are a fantastic team and provide a level of expertise and professionalism that one rarely sees in real estate. They have a unique ability to break down and explain market influences and data points that impact your home as well as encourage your input to help find a price that everyone is comfortable with. They add value through their commitment to your success, their willingness to do whatever it takes, and their outstanding level of communication. I highly recommend the Massey Allen Group when buying or selling your home. read more

Ed and Tim are great. We originally met them while looking at a home for sale, and they were representing the seller. We didn't buy that particular house, but we had a couple phone calls with Tim after that initial introduction discussing our needs, the market, and other important issues they brought to our attention. We agreed to meet up and learn about their process when representing sellers, and met them in their office after work shortly after. By the end of that meeting, we were much more dialed in with what we wanted and what we didn't want. We zeroed in on specific areas, and the technology Tim and Ed navigated through over the course of the meeting was critical in instantaneously answering questions we had, and looking a couple steps beyond where our minds were when we first arrived.  These guys are very responsive, knowledgeable, trustworthy, easy to get along with, and seem to enjoy the process and enjoy helping people through the process from start to finish.  When it came to bidding and navigating through the purchase, inspection, escrow, and closing processes, they were timely, focused, clear, and led the way. It actually felt relatively low on the stress scale, and very easy. Before we knew it we were holding keys to our new home, and wearing a big silly grins. read more

There is no doubt in my mind that we would not have been able to purchase our house without Tim on our team. Before even starting the house hunting process, Tim sat down with us and explained how the process would go starting with house hunting itself, through how to view and look at all of the important documentation and all the way through what it would look like to close on the house. Knowing all of this we felt very confident in being able to find the house of our dreams. After searching, my fiancé and I fell in love with a 103 year old house. As you can imagine there are some inherent risks of purchasing a house at this age but we still loved it. Tim was consistently very honest with us with the potential problems that we may run across and made sure that the offer that we made not only would put our best foot forward to the buyer but also would protect us if anything were to come up that we were not expecting. Through the whole negotiation process Tim would keep us informed on every important detail that we needed to be aware of and would check in to see if there were any questions that we needed answered. Tim is one of the most professional people that I have ever had the pleasure of working with and he had very reliable resources for all of the inspections and any follow up work that needed to be done to assure that the house that we thought we were buying was indeed the house that we got. Couldn't be happier with Tim Allen Jr. and Ed Massey at Massey Allen Group. They helped me buy a home at Muir Heights in Martinez, CA and sell my home at Eastgate in Martinez, CA. I have known these two for over twenty years and they did a fantastic job selling my mother's home two years ago in addition to buying my first home eleven years ago. Despite their busy and full schedule they made time for me for what was an impromptu buy and sell. I was not technically in the market but one day I stumbled across Muir Heights and fell in love. When I reached out to Tim and Ed about it, they arranged for us to visit the community the next day. Next thing you know, I am in contract on the home and at the same time getting ready to sell mine. Everything went better than expected. These gentlemen did a great job holding my hand through the purchase and sale. I was the most concerned about moving out of my place and they were able to give me a referral for movers who ended up doing a fantastic job. I was also concerned about getting my place up for sale as I was not planning on doing so and they had all the pieces to the puzzle solved within a week. Tim Allen Jr. and Ed Massey at Massey Allen Group were so efficient that I never ended up paying a double mortgage because they got my home in contract two days after I moved out of it. This was definitely a Cinderella story. If you are looking for an agent where you will get the white glove treatment, look no further. They will treat the purchase and or sale as if it were their own. read more

My wife and I worked with Ed and Tim from the Massey Allen Group to purchase a new home in Clayton. We moved from Boston and did not know the East Bay very well or the California real estate market. From our first meeting, we were very impressed with both Ed and Tim. They took the time to get to know us, to understand what we were looking for and to educate us on the area. We were pleased with how well they understood the local market, and the nuances of the various communities in the East Bay. We trusted them and relied on them to understand what a home would likely sell for, how competitive a given listing was expected to be, and to hit the "right" price. We were able to purchase a wonderful home in an ideal community that fit our needs perfectly in about 2 months. Lastly, I found their partnership to be a great advantage in searching for a home. Having the two of them to work with meant the process revolved around our own schedule since one of them was always available, whether to see a home on short notice, join us for home inspections, or answer questions. And they were always well coordinated! We were very happy with the service they provided and would recommend them to our friends. read more

Tim and Ed made the home purchasing for us extremely easy. The key to their approach is their consultative nature. They prepare you ahead of time for all the things that one would come to expect with purchasing a home. Additionally, Ed did a phenomenal job of finding a home that fit our budget without compromising on the things we identified as must haves.
