I know what diagnostics looks like. Good diagnostics should and can be a thing with PCPs, but my experience in VA has challenged that. I've seen Haroon on and off for a few years, and when I first saw him he was quite checked out. Spent most of his time quietly on his laptop during his consult with me. I don't think totally ignoring me, but not actively diagnosing me. Like every other doctor in VA, his first move is almost always a consult, run labs, then a follow-up. This diagnosis comes after the lab model results in wasted time, not exclusive to Dr. Rashid. In one instance, I came to the Dr. with an issue that is verifiable via a quick physical check, and he did not do that, ignoring what I had told him/the patient. Again, I find this not exclusive to Dr. Rashid in the VA medical community. When I came back after labs, i had to tell him to check me twice, he finally did, and I was properly diagnosed with exactly what I had told him was the issue the first time. To be clear, this is the kind of physical check that's very basic, been around hundreds of years, that anyone can do, but a doctor is trained in and when they diagnose you they can well... do doctor things like send you to the proper specialist with a referral (which I cannot do, and need a doctor for!). So, unfortunately, that experience is pretty average in VA for PCPs ime I'll say that I've seen Doc also improve over the years. He now seems to do in-person phone follow-ups, texting. He seems a little bit happier, in general. So perhaps things are improving, which is basically all I want from my neighborhood doc. Though I really want and kind of like Dr. Rashid as my PCP, multiple times I've found myself needing to go to a different PCP or just directly to a specialist (when insurance allows) in order to get the right healthcare. But, again, not exclusive experience to Dr. Rashid, and seems part of the model of medicine in this part of VA. His front staff have always been pretty good, and their online system has also improved for the most part. Lastly, I will say Rashid is good in that he is preventive in his approach to medicine. He's not interested in throwing pills at you, and respects the body. This is what keeps me coming back currently, despite my search for my forever doc!

I "interviewed" many nephrologists in the city before deciding on this practice. I knew I would require lifelong care, so choosing a physician who was not just competent but also "got me" and my lifestyle was extremely important. Dr. Habwe is amazing-- one of the most capable, compassionate doctors I have ever encountered. She has 100s of patients, but somehow whenever you speak to her, you feel as though you are her only one. I not only feel completely confident in her care, but actually look forward to seeing her. She is also incredibly tenacious about helping you get necessary care from other specialists, when necessary. Full time doctor and advocate, and part time social worker and confidante. The best in the city, as far as I am concerned. Additionally, her front desk staffers-- Sandy and Eleanore-- are lovely. I got pre- and post- kidney transplant hugs from both of them. (and of course, they are helpful in terms of scheduling and lab follow-up work, too). Nephrology Center also has an in-house nurse to draw labs, which makes the whole process incredibly convenient. I've also never had a problem with insurance or billing. Dealing with a short term or chronic health ailment is never awesome, and of course we'd all prefer never to see doctors at all. But if you have bean troubles, I'd never hesitate to refer you to this practice. And if you see them over the long term, I bet they become like your extended family.

I called many times leaving a message; no response. Finally, 6 weeks later I get a call from the doctor saying that I submitted insufficient quantity for the test. I felt so enraged. I chose this place to avoid the chaotic GW MFA, but that was a mistake. Also, Dr. Khan spoke to me like he had no clue about anything. Almost like I was the doctor and he the patient.

She's rather brusque, and when I was telling her my symptoms, she seemed rather skeptical. To her credit, she didn't rush me through or cut me off, and she made a point of documenting what I told her. Don't expect her to make you feel warm and fuzzy inside, but in my experience and the experience of a friend, she's a capable doctor.

He's caring and well-informed about the latest research since we hope to fix the problem rather than just manage the pain. His PA, Deb, is amazing as well. She treated my spouse with respect and caring from the initial visit. They take the time you need and are truly dedicated to easing chronic pain. They've been responsive in urgent situations and work to find the right combination of treatments. The only thing we wish was better was the average wait times although yesterday we were seen immediately. But we'd rather wait longer to get the time we need.

On Thursday December 24th I had an appointment with Dr. Balint for the second time. After waiting…read morein the reception area, I was called by one of the nurses I guess who works there (an Asian Lady, no disrespect I do not know the name). She responded my greeting by a quick and dry hello (no smile whatsoever) and placed me in one of the rooms and left the room by saying Dr. Balint will be with you shortly. She did not asked any questions about how I was doing, also didn't even bother to check my blood pressure. Please keep in mind that I am a diabetic patient with high blood pressure. I waited for a long time in the other room and finally Dr. Balint came to the room. No handshake or warm greeting, didn't even bother to ask how I felt after receiving the first injection. After briefly sharing his opinion in regards to my latest MRI, invited me to the room that I would receive my second set of injections. Once again I bumped into the same nurse. For some unknown reason I had trouble walking and felt so weak in my both legs. They were both shaking and had trouble carrying my weight. The nurse didn't ask if I am ok knowing that was not my normal walk. Did not offer any help and just asked me to lay down on the bed and get ready for the injection. Shortly after that Dr. Balint with another lady walked into the room and started prepping me for the injections. These time both injections were extremely painful to the point that I couldn't stop crying and had trouble catching my breath while trying my best not to move. The entire time three of them were having a conversation about some event and once in awhile Dr. Balint was giving a short explanation about my injection. Not even once one of them asked me if I am ok and did not bother to check on me. Even after the injection was over all Dr. Balint said was he needs to do the next session within a month and left the room. Did not even to bother to say bye or ask me if I am ok (keep in mind that my tears were still coming down due to the pain as well as getting emotional due to being extremely upset for being treated so poorly). After Dr. Balint left the room once again I was alone with the same Asian nurse trying to get dressed and again no words whatsoever. Once again she didn't bother to ask if I am ok. I was so upset and disappointed with my experience that I could not wait to leave the office. Usually patient suppose to wait 20 minutes after the shot at the office in case of any reaction. I could not even do that. I had to leave and for sure I will never return back to that place. Is this the way a patient should be treated by the doctor or the other care giver at the doctor office? What has happened to customer service? Was I wrong to get so upset. Please keep in mind that as soon as I got home I had to check my blood pressure and my blood pressure was 160 over 98 which was extremely high. Anytime I went to any doctor's office or any clinic they always first check patient's blood pressure, don't you think the nurse should have done that as well?
