I love Masseria Feudo! I spent hours, days, weeks, months researching my vacation and picking a place for an overnight stay in a few out of the way places was the hardest part... how do you know what's best, amiright? I'm so glad I chose Masseria Feudo. I was looking for a location that was close to Paestum and the Bufalo Mozarrella Farm, Tenuto Vannulo. Well, Masseria Feuddo was like 5 minutes from the farm and 10 minutes from Paestum, WAY closer than I even realized. So, the location is AWESOME.
I will admit that the rooms are a little old school for someone who is used to staying at Marriotts. I'm not a fan of bedspreads, but things are different in Italy... most of these farmstays are much more casual and I was completely comfortable in our room. It was simple, but had our needs. the TV was hilarious and teeny up in the corner, but we weren't there long enough to need a television. Everything else was comfortable and easy to use. We had a big patio off of our second floor room, so that was pretty cool and we totally would have used it if we had been there longer, but this was just an overnight stay. The only thing I thought was a little weird, is they charge $10 if you want AC, which we did not need, but in the summer might be an issue.
When we arrived we were HUNGRY and asked for dinner. Or host asked if we wanted antipasti and we said yes, but we should have said, we'll share one, because it was HUGE! So big that we couldn't even order any other dishes as we were STUFFED with roasted veggies, pasta bites, cheeses, etc. So, so good. I felt like for the first time on this trip, I was getting some full on Italian fare and this is what I had been waiting for. They do the full on Italian dinner with a pasta course, meat course and dessert, but we had to pass. At breakfast the next day, we were provided a selection of breads and pastries with butter and jams. Simple, but yummy.
The family who runs Masseria Feudo is all really friendly. They don't speak a lot of English, but Vincenzo was the one we dealt with through most of our visit and he had decent English and was fun to talk to. I know our room was €66, but don't remember what the charge for dinner and beers was. Overall affordable, though and highly recommended! read more
