I had a prenatal massage here today with LaRina. My sister-in-law gifted me the massage as a baby shower present. I have had massages before - actually at the Troy MassageLuxe location - and the setup was pretty similar here. It's a very calming interior. I went to use the restroom and then sat in the waiting area for a minute or so, until LaRina came to get me. In the past for massages I've laid on my belly but I can't do that since I'm pregnant, so they had me lay on my side with a maternity-esque pillow on my legs. The massage as a whole was relaxing, but when I had to turn on my other side, I felt like I was slipping off the massage table a bit, even though I adjusted myself a few times. I'm not sure how much the massage was, since mine was a gift, but I think it was about $100-120, for one hour, although mine ran about 55 minutes. However, I know in the past MassageLuxe has had Groupons and other deals, so I would check those as well. read more

My husband and I had a massage here last year. Not a couples, separate massages. I found the massage to be quite average, nothing special. It was what we had expected from a membership massage spot. The pressure and overall massage was so-so, it was an underwhelming experience. Would have preferred more pressure, but that was the extent of what the therapist could do for us. The front staff were all nice enough and had us fill out a form before the massage. The rooms are clean. They do hand out a piece of paper that offers a free massage if you give them a favorable Yelp review, that was a bit off-putting to me. I do find it strange that their West Bloomfield location only shows 77 reviews, but if you go all the way down to the bottom of their yelp page, after all the reviews that are visible, there are over 290 reviews that don't show up. Seems like a huge disparity. Why are there are more hidden reviews than visible ones for this location? It makes little sense to me. read more

Since my second trimester I've gone in for a 60 min prenatal massage every 3-4 weeks. (You can't go in your first trimester). Every massage therapist does things a little differently, but Casi is my favorite! My hips and lower back feel so so much better after seeing her. I also had a facial with Sarah that was so relaxing and my skin feels so fresh and clean and just new. Everyone is so kind, especially the ladies at the front desk! They always make me smile. My husband bought a membership for me for Christmas almost 2 years ago at the Novi location but we moved and are now closer to this location. It's my favorite! Note on the membership though - since each location is individually owned there are some major pain points. If you're not able to go monthly your hours really stack up, but you're not able to transfer them to someone else (you can "gift" an hour every 6 months for a $20 fee, but the hour can only be used at your "home" location and the same person can't use the gifted hour back to back - or so I've been told). You also can't cancel and then work through your remaining hours at your own speed - we've been told we have 30 days to use all remaining hours, and another time 90 days to use remaining hours - so that's confusing. Or you can freeze for smaller monthly fee, but you can't use your existing hours during that time. I've been trying to do monthly massages and facials to get through them (I know, truly a first world problem) so we can cancel the membership. The info is not on the website either since again, they're individually owned. If there weren't so many corporate policies with a lack of transparency I'd be interested in keeping the membership going but it's a little stressful. read more

What a rip off!!!! After paying $5 month to freeze my account during Covid, I asked them to cancel my account as they wanted to charge $70 month to reactivate. I said no. They charged me $70 this week and are refusing to refund that amount. They had no authorization to charge anything! I'm furious. The service is so so. I wasn't planning on going there anymore but now there is no way I'd return. Your "policy" cost you a customer. Saying you're just an employee doesn't mean you shouldn't try to help. read more

I have always used Massage Envy. I was a member in Texas and Michigan. My daughter gave me a gift card for Christmas for Massage Lux. I hate changing my routine but I went last week and tried it out. I have to say, after one deep tissue massage by Morgan, I decided to cancel my month to month at Massage Envy and get a membership at Massage Lux. To compare, the decor is more soothing, and they had another perk in a hydro massage lounge chair the members can use. It was really nice to use after my deep tissue massage. I came in to the store to use a gift card in December of 2019, when I finished they informed me that I had credit remaining on the card and scheduled me another appointment to come in. They took down my credit card info but I was unaware I was being signed up for an account that would be charged every month.  I didnt notice the charges until the COVID lock down and could not reach anyone to cancel the account until yesterday.  At which point I spoke to a manager who was very rude and told me she was not refunding the June charge even though it was charged to my card 2 days ago and the store didnt open until June 16th.  I am very angry with this whole process and could not even get ahold of anyone in corporate customer service. Best facial I've had in years with Arika ! I did join the monthly Epic program. Don't be fooled by the lower than usual prices for those of us who typically pay double and other local spas. It was really was that good. I have Terribly sensitive and acne prone skin -the services,products and Esthetician (Arika) exceeded my expectations. My stressful experience at MassageLuxe West Bloomfield. My appointment was changed twice. The block of time for our appointment was reduced to 60 from 90 mins the day before I was scheduled to receive me and my wife's massage. When we arrived, I should have left immediately due to the really strong negative energy we felt. It seemed everyone except the Manager was stressed. Did not recieve a massage. My card was charged for two massages. Our scheduled masseuse was not welcoming/friendly at all I was yelled at in the parking lot by the front desk person for not staying. Awkward and embarrassing. Partly my fault because I was warned not to go here, but I assumed it was a one off experience for that person. After (now) reading the reviews, yikes. So I'll try and warn you, this place is not relaxing quite the opposite. read more

Came here for my first time a few days ago and I was thoroughly impressed. I got a one-hour massage from Danielle which was absolutely spectacular, I have a pinched nerve in my spinal cord and I have a torn rotator cuff on top of being a disabled War veteran, so basically you can say I had a lot of work to be done and by the time I left I was feeling completely renewed. Credit Card Required To Make An Appointment They require a credit card to make an appointment. Before I could ask more questions and expecting the reception rep to only look at my card, she quickly swiped my credit card through their credit card machine in one swift motion without asking for my consent. When I asked her why she did it, she said "oh, it is only used as a hold, you won't be charged". Then why swipe my card? The point to her was she did not clearly explain or ask me if she could do it. A hold for what? What type of hold? Still not understanding why she just ran my card without getting my consent, one thing I do know is that businesses that keep customer credit cards on file are essentially receiving a blank check, which I told her is why I do not believe MassageLuxe should be requiring a credit card to simply make an appointment. Feeling trapped and tricked, I made it clear that I would not be using the card when I returned for my appointment. As a precaution, I then promptly called my credit card company and told them I had not authorized any charges and not to accept any charges from MassageLuxe. Already off to a bad start. No Information Available I asked for a brochure. No brochures or information about the available services was available. Not Worth the Price On the day of my appointment, I arrived 10 minutes early, completed their short release form in 2 minutes, but my massage therapist didn't come get me from the waiting area until 5 minutes after my appointment was scheduled to start; cutting in to my massage time. My massage started 9 minutes late, and the therapist stopped 3 minutes before the hour. I only received 48 minutes of a 1-hour massage. The entire experience was rushed and I did not feel like a valued client. Quality of the Deep Tissue Massage Although I scheduled a deep tissue massage, I did not receive a deep tissue massage; it was more akin to light rubbing. I would not recommend the massage therapist. Upselling I was offered membership by a personable and friendly salesperson, but I did not feel pressured. Closing Out I paid in cash, but had to ask for a receipt. I should not have to ask for my receipt. I also asked that my credit card information be taken out of their system and as I suspected they had retained my credit card on file without getting my express written consent by signature to do so. I will not return and do not recommend this MassageLuxe. read more

We always tipped in cash and they knew it. Because when they asked "do you want to leave a tip, we would say, We tipped the masseuse already in cash." When i used the gift cards which had enough for a full massage I was told OH you tipped with some of the funds. LIe,lie.lie!!! we NEVER TIP ON ANY KIND OF CARD. ALWAYS CASH FOR OVER 34 YEARS. They will steal from you !!!!!.. And they keep doing it. When they are called out they will not back down. They did return some money to my card once. but did it again. Hi there: I want to express my frustration with Massage Luxe. My first my massage was wonderful. So much so, I signed up. My second one was absolutely terrible. When I told the front desk, the sales rep blew me off - and then tried to sell me on more services. I tried to complain further - even on Facebook. I was met with no response or MORE sales stuff. So, I went to another location - Novi, MI. This third massage was OK. But, again the staff was beyond pushy with the buy, buy, buy. On top of that, they told me I had more massages in my account than I did. When I went for my fourth massage, at the location I signed up at - west bloomfield, mi - all the sudden there is nothing in my account. So, I had to pay extra - and the front desk had an incredibly sassy, bad attitude about it. In addition, before I'm even back in the waiting room, MORE SALES pitches. This massage was great. But, in checking out again, more forceful, rude sales pitches. I call to cancel today. I'm met with a sales greeting and attitude. I'm then bluntly told I HAVE to come in to cancel. I know longer want to be a member. And, I'd like to cancel immediately - and I don't want to come into the location to do so. There are some serious customer service issues across your locations. The sales tactics are also incredibly aggressive and make for an uncomfortable experience. Please cancel my membership immediately. read more

1st massage at the Bloomfield location was good but had an issue with the therapist's fingernails digging into the leg made it uncomfortable. Had one other massage that was good friendly solid overall. When the Troy location opened I booked a massage with Leah who was experienced, good energy, felt relaxed after - made a great impression. I tried to re-book with the same therapist but they called a couple of days before and said she had left so I had to book with a new therapist. I booked with a therapist they recommended and showed up 10 minutes before the appointment went to the waiting room then was told they had actually canceled the appointment the day before because she wasn't on board yet and they had left a message but I did not receive the message on voice mail. No apology not even a thanks for showing up. Latest - I booked an appointment at this location several days ago then received a cancellation notice less than 2 hours before the appointment that the third attempted booking in less than a month was cancelled because the therapist had an issue and was not showing up. Again no apology or even thanks just if I wanted to re-book to call back. Don't know what happened but not the same as the first couple of massages when I first signed up. Never had any problem this extensive with any service provider prior! Most I've seen go out of their way to make up for misunderstanding or service errors to develop a good customer base. The actual massage and facials were great, the masseuses and esthetician's did a wonderful job. Although the front desk staff was very confused, when bringing in friends for services there were hidden fees, random upcharges, and much misleading information about pricing and membership types.
