DO NOT USE THIS PLACE! They discriminate against people with psoriasis. I went in for the first massage, no problems. I signed up for the membership, paid 56.00 a month and am now being told that I can't get a massage because of my skin condition! The manager was very un-professional. By the way, my psoriasis is very mild, only on my arms. And no, Massage Luxe, it is NOT contagious. The only reason I gave it one star is that this sight makes you...it deserves ZERO! read more

About two months ago my friend wanted to surprise his wife with a massage experience for her and her two girl-friends. A month of planning was spent choosing a Spa company, location and a date when we could all get together because the couple lives south of Indianapolis, IN and her best friends live in St. Louis, MO. Massage Luxe was chosen because of their most central location between the St. Louis friends in Creve Coeur, MO. When I called to make the reservation for 4 people for the $100 package deal Creve Coeur said they only had 1 esthetician for the facials and told me to call the location at Manchester. When they asked if I knew where that was I said yes it is in the Rockhill area, they agreed and gave me the number to call. I called new location and made our reservations for 2:00pm December 29th, 2013. By this time, the surprise experience turned into a 7 person group lunch of old college friends at the Bread Co. on Brentwood and ice cream run to Baskin Robbins on Manchester/McKnight just to get the wife in walking distance of the Massage Luxe and surprise her with the massage experience with her 3 closest friends. On Saturday, December 28th a guy called me to confirm our reservation, because it was a surprise I gave them only my phone number and said to call me for any questions. The guy called me THREE times to confirm the people attending the reservation either because no one made a note, he didn't read the note or he was too stupid until the 3rd phone call to realize he was calling the same number/person. The day of the appointment, at 1:45pm we arrive at the Massage Luxe at Manchester/McKnight only to be told we were at the wrong location. Our appointments were scheduled at the Manchester Highlands location in Manchester, MO. The Rockhill front desk called to let the Highland front desk know we were going to be late and their only response was "You can head on over but your services will be shortened." Now we are scrambling to carpool over to the Highlands location to make our appointment. We finally get there the front desk lady with dark hair says "Because you are late your services will be shortened today as we are fully booked." Pissed at this point, I respond with "I will bitch at you later, give us the paperwork and let's get this started." We filled out the paperwork electronically; my friend's wife had to go out to the desk because they forgot to add the facial paperwork to her account. After we get done with our paperwork it was 2:20pm by the time our services were started. Two of us had massages first and two had facials first then we would swap. My friend's wife was to start with a massage, which I found out during my shortened facial she could not have because she was 10 weeks pregnant. Not at any point in time (reservation, confirmation or arrival) did anyone ask if anyone in the party was pregnant or state they were not staffed to provide prenatal massage therapy services. So the whole reason we were all there was for her and she had to sit in the lobby for 40 minutes to wait for her facial. My facial experience was nice and the massage was ok. My issue during the massage was the male therapist I had at one time worked his hand too far up my inner thigh. Not sure if it was intentional but the surprise made me jump when I felt his hand press into the sheet wrapped against my underwear. When I exited my massage, I went out to the front desk to talk to them about the situation. I stated that when I called Creve Coeur they gave me the right phone number but the wrong location. So it was the company's fault for our lateness. The two ladies upfront stated in a snobby and high-horsed manner "It was human error, no one is perfect, we are not responsible for the Creve Coeur location as we are a franchise, the services are already severely discounted and have already been rendered." One of the other girls in the group pointed out the flaws their company made and the franchise this was a lame excuse and it wasn't even until this point they said it was an option that we could have rescheduled. They charged $50 for our friend's facial since she didn't get the massage for the $100 package. I also found out that everyone, including me, was asked what services they were receiving by the staff because they didn't know. They were not organized, ready even though we were late and their front desk staff persons are rude snobs. I told them I will never go to one of their facilities again, and told my boyfriend in front of them to never buy me anything associated with Massage Luxe since our experience was ruined by their people. My friends agreed so they now lost future business from 3 St. Louis residents and anyone who will ask for recommendations. I recommend spending your money somewhere else because Massage Luxe was not worth the money, even at the discounted rate, their staff is unorganized, unprepared and don't care about your experience even with it is their fault. read more

I've been to a couple Massage Luxe locations. This is more of a general review of my experience, but I went to the Ballwin location today. First the upsides: I've been to a couple of the massage chains, and this is definitely nicer than the other chain I've been to, Massage Envy. The facility is attractive, modern, and clean, and the lights are kept low around the massage rooms. They offer massages, facials, and waxing. They also have a HydroMassage bed that's pretty relaxing. The front desk staff seem friendly. My massage was nice, nothing spectacular, but okay. My therapist didn't ask me if there were any areas I would like her to focus on or avoid. I also had a facial & brow wax, both of which I would consider good. My biggest complaint really is about their business practices. When I first went to Massage Luxe, I got the introductory rate but then stupidly signed up for the monthly "club membership" / automatic withdrawal payment. If you call to cancel or freeze the automatic withdrawals, you lose or are unable to access any time that you accrue with the monthly payments. So if you've paid for three hours of massages at $54.88 per month, and you decide you want to prevent another automatic withdrawal, you will straight up lose $164.64 unless you use those three hours before you cancel. You also have to return, in person, to the store that you signed up for membership to cancel - it cannot be done over the phone or at another location. After my facial, they pitched their expensive, $50 dollar creams to me that I didn't know anything about other than having experienced them once during the facial. In addition to your $54.88 / massage monthly fee, you need to tip (15%-20%), which makes me worry that although Massage Luxe is making plenty of money, their employees perhaps are not. Finally, I had accrued four hours, but because I had a facial and an upgraded massage (the aromatherapy massage), that was considered three and a half hours of my account, even though I walked in for a noon appointment and left a little after two. The facial "counted" as two hours of my accrued time even though the service itself was not. Translated to dollars, I paid nearly hundred dollars for the service after tip. If I had to do it all again I wish I would have supported a local, independent massage therapist. Because at the end of the day, you know what's really relaxing? Not feeling overcharged for services, and not being subjected annoying sales pitches after what is supposed to be a relaxing experience. read more

I have had a membership to massage luxe for over a year and really enjoyed getting my monthly massages until this time. I usually go to the brentwood location and am very satisfied but went with my mother and we decided to go to the ballwin location. When booking the appointments my mother asked for a swedish and I asked for a deep tissue because my muscles get very tight and sore. When entering the room my therapist, Ellen, was friendly but she did not ask me anything about my massage all she said was "take off your clothes and i will be back in five minutes." When she returned she gave me my massage. I could not even feel anything on my sore muscles. She used zero pressure and never asked how the pressure was. She did not turn the heat on the table either, or ask me about it. I was very upset and stressed the entire time because i wanted to get up and leave because it was doing nothing for me, and was wasting my time and money. I did not want to be rude to her because it was not her fault she was horrible at giving massages and I thought possibly she did not know i wanted a deep tissue massage or did not know how to give one. I didn't want to ask. Instead i just wondered the whole time. When my massage was finally over and my muscles were still tight and sore, i waited for my mother to come out and asked her how her massage was. She claimed, "they beat the hell out of me." It was then I realized they must have mixed up our massage pressures. When i asked the front desk what had happened, told them i did not receive a deep tissue massage, they just stared at me. They then told me, "there was nothing they could do" for me. I was very upset that I would not receive any acknowledgment or compensation for my horrible massage i then decided to cancel my membership. When i told them they told me they could not cancel it and that i would have to go to the location i signed up at. I decided that was ridiculous and that they needed to call that location and figure it out. They did. I cancelled my membership and asked for their cards. They told me they did not have cards available. The manager did give me a form to fill out about the therapist but that was all that happened. Massages are only good for a "relaxing" massage. I have terrible back problems and their massages did absolutely nothing for my pain. Also, their waxing services are awful. My husband went in for a back wax and they only had small strips. If you offer large areas to wax you should have the adequate supplies to perform the job correctly. We were told it was $x amount for the wax. When he got there, it was taking longer than they anticipated so they told him....in the middle of his wax...that he had to pay extra money. So he basically had to pay more or leave half waxed. That's pretty shady. Then when I called the manager, I spoke with the assistant manager. He wanted like he was manager until I told him that I knew he wasn't. He argued with me. I asked for his boss. She called back and was very nice but didn't offer anything for the terrible situation. This was one of the worst and most humiliating experiences of my life. I agreed to a membership after a disappointing massage after I was told that it would give me another massage at no extra charge and that I had a month to cancel. I am 6 months pregnant with 3 kids and didn't have time for the massage so I went exactly 1 month later to cancel. At that time I was told that it actually is one day less than a month and that they already charged me. When I tried to explain that that is not what I was told the manager came over and continuously interrupted me. There was apology for a misunderstanding. He just kept telling me too bad it is their policy. When I asked if he could stop interrupting me so I could talk, he told me no, he didn't have to let me talk and if I continued to try to talk he would call the police on me. He threatened this more than once inspite of the fact that my 4 year old daughter was with me. I contacted their corporate customer service and they had the general manager called a week later. She was very nice, but told me that she doesn't have the authority to authorize refund. She said she would have a regional manager call. He called 2 days later. His offer to help me was to reinstate my canceled membership. He states they have no reason to refund money, denied that there could be anyway that they told me that I had a month. He offered nothing for the fact that his manager treated me more poorly than I have ever been treated in the past. read more

Horrible!!! I had one massage left from membership at Kirkwood. I booked appt but had to cancel due to getting called in at hospital. When I called to reschedule they didn't tell me I had lost the last message. I went in and they had me fill out all the paperwork again and proceeded to tell me I would paying the full price because I didn't give 24 hour notice. I said " I work in a hospital, sometimes it's a stat situation, I wish you would have told me that on the phone so I wouldn't have wasted my time. " the girl at the counter was so rude and so unapologetic. I will never go to another cookie cutter establishment again. I quit the membership because I never received a decent massage to begin with. I even saved up two so I can get two hour massage but still came out feeling unrelaxed. I'm thinking some of these reviewers must have never been to an actual day spa if they think they're getting a good massage. read more
