My spine doctor suggested I get back on track with getting massages so I did some research and found Bull City Massage Therapy offered a massage called Myofascial Release. After reading the description of what it entailed, it sounded perfect for me. The Myofascial Release massage involves applying gentle, sustained pressure into myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. I easily booked a 60 minute session with Nina online through their app Vagaro. Nina was great and spent the whole 60 minutes massaging the pain area I requested. It was so nice to hear a crack of where the knot has been hurting me. While the pain is not completely gone (I'm not expecting a one session miracle), I was very happy with how I felt afterwards. Like my doctor, Nina also recommended that I keep up with this type of massage to truly help mitigate my pain. Bull City is located in the lower level of a building in downtown Durham. The business was very cozy with warm lighting. I went on a Saturday for my appointment and Bull City said I could park at the lot next to their building (because it was a weekend), but I was slightly nervous from all the tow signs even though the front desk employee assured me it was fine. I opted to park at the Church St. Parking Garage. It was a 5 minute walk and free when I was there. Please note that there is no guarantee it will always be free if downtown Durham has events on weekends. All in all, I'd go here again - especially for a Myofascial Release massage!

This spa has only been in business for about two months, and my wife and I partook in a couples Swedish massage. I didn't catch anyone's name, but it seems like Mark was most likely my masseuse based on reviews here and on Google. He is definitely skilled at his trade. He was putting the right pressure, and it was extremely relaxing with the nice elevator music and massage oils on top. Very clean place and he was very welcoming and cordial and would make sure you were enjoying yourself throughout the service. The business is located in mediocre looking strip mall in Durham, which gave us some hesitancy, but don't let that sway you. This is probably the place my wife will come back to when she craving some R&R

I was able to get an appointment with Jennifer on a Sunday morning and it was one of the best massages I've ever received! I usually have to go to a therapist multiple times before I can really relax, but Jennifer made me feel completely at ease to the point that I fell asleep several times. About a week later I realized I hadn't been having back or sciatic pain all week after the massage. This is after at least a month of being in daily pain. The spa itself is lovely and everyone was very kind and welcoming. All together just a wonderful experience after a long week and a long conference. Afterward the Retreat even sent me a 10% off coupon for my next visit. Highly recommend!

Her "office" is in a gorgeous, tree-lined street with old homes that reminded me of my favorite neighborhoods in Austin. The home she works out of is a beautiful older home with lots of character and conducive to a peaceful experience. First off, she listened attentively to my issues and what I was and was not looking for in a RMT. She completely respected everything I said and got to work. It turned out we are both musicians, so we had a nice chat about that for one thing, and another was that she then understood the muscular and overuse issues I have. On a strictly personal note, I loved that she played more acoustic, Americana, folky music rather than the usual New Age jam that a lot of RMTs play. That is purely a personal preference of mine and I'm betting she can accommodate if that's what you prefer. Sheilah was definitely worth the drive from Cary for me.

Amazing massage!…read more After buying a Groupon for a 90-minute massage, I reached out to Sheilah to book an appointment. I was not sure what to expect, booking with a Groupon, but my experience was great! Sheilah called me back that day and booked me for an appointment within a week. I liked that she sent text messages to confirm and remind me about my appointment. Sheilah was even more wonderful in person. Her massage practice is located upstairs in a beautiful home. The room itself was peaceful, and comfortable, and had lots of natural night. Birds chirped outside the window. At the beginning of the appointment, Sheilah took some time to get to know me, and learn what I wanted to get out of the massage. Her approach was different than any massage I've experienced. When she started the massage, she offered some spoken words, like a yoga instructor, guiding me to a more relaxed place. I found myself following along, and breathing more slowly. As she continued, I started to let go and relax. The massage was like a restorative mediation. When I left, I felt better in my body than I had felt in months! The intense muscle tightness and aches in my neck and shoulders were gone, and a day later, I still feel the benefits. What an extraordinary massage experience-thank you Sheilah!

By my second Rolfing session with Julie, my headaches went away completely. I had not felt relief in so long. I've continued to see her when I hit a rough patch & it always helps. She's also referred me to other types of practitioners when she feels I might benefit from a different type of care. This type of honesty is deeply appreciated, & I really feel like her commitment lies in making sure her clients heal. My husband has also loved working with Julie. The space is really nice, too. Lastly - bc I wish people talked about this more - as can often happen with bodywork, there was one session where some past trauma surfaced for me unexpectedly. In those scenarios, I have often felt ashamed & embarrassed by my reactions bc they often come flying out of nowhere & can be difficult to control. Not all practitioners I've worked with seem prepared for this or able to offer trauma-informed care, but Julie's calm & gentle presence in this moment made me feel extremely safe, respected, & seen in my moment of vulnerability. I appreciated it greatly. In closing...highly recommend!!
