I was gonna give this business a try, especially with it being my birthday weekend. But rather than being helpful and professional, Laura decided that responding with attitude and condescension was appropriate after I reached out for assistance. Yes, you have the right to refuse service to anyone, but at the same time, when someone reaches out respectfully and explains they're blind/visually impaired and having trouble with your website, the bare minimum would be to respond with basic human decency. I wasn't asking for a favor, I was simply trying to book and communicate my accessibility needs like anyone else would. Instead, I was met with an unnecessarily rude response and a threat to be blocked for sending messages that were clear, calm, and respectful. That's not how you treat a potential client, especially one who came to you ready to pay for multiple services. Laura, from Massage Moore Spa, I hope that moving forward you learn how to speak to people, especially those with disabilities, without sarcasm, attitude, or defensiveness. Accessibility is not an inconvenience. If someone shares their needs with you, the professional thing to do is to listen or point them to someone who can assist them, not shut them down. I had the best massage today from Ms. Laura. I booked my service on her website. No credit card or deposit was required upfront. After booking she immediately called me to confirm our appointment. Ms. Laura was very nice and professional. When I got to her location there was plenty of street parking so parking was a breeze. When I entered the spa I was very impressed because her place was a vibe! It's super cute, very clean, and smelled delightful. My massage was amazing, she did a great job, and I can't wait to return. I placed a call for pricing. Was almost what it felt like shamed for calling in with questions. She advise me to check the website for pricing. I was trying to get information on what different types of massage there was but the lady decided to hang out the phone. I run a customers facing company myself. Unresponsive when making an appointment. Waited 3 hours until I cancelled and then got an immediate thumbs up lol. That's not professional at all. I don't recommend, unfortunately. Then... I get a message on yelp, after my review, from the owner saying she didn't confirm my appointment because she was in a hair appointment (see her response below). Yet her website or other "3rd party, appointment scheduling entity" allowed me to book that time (3:30). How many people will wait for a confirmed appointment for 3 hours (10:20 to 1:30) for a 3:30 appt time, before they just decide to just go somewhere else? I think my point has been made. I am not a review writer until I get a business owner that I feel is worthy of a review. If I had only gotten a response that was timely and non emotional, ( such as her response to my review) or even something other than a "thumbs up"} to the response of that which I was dissatisfied with. I would have NO ill feelings towards this business otherwise. I can only reciprocate what is presented in front of me. Bad Service = Bad Review... I will update every time I get a reply Again... she replied. I assume because a bad review could not be taken as a professional. To the business owner: No business goes unblemished. If you do have a time frame where you do NOT approve appointments, then it should be made known to your clients. Or if you have a time frame that you WILL reply, you should make that known. Last October my doctor told me I was pre-diabetic and needed to make some changes if I wanted to avoid serious trouble. I'm not getting any younger I thought and the last thing I needed was future health problems, so I got on a diet and exercise program. In October I was a whopping 316lbs. Last month I was 264. Not bad, but it's an ongoing process. As part of my new self-care regimen, I had been getting manicures and pedicures so, I decided that for my 56th birthday, I would treat myself to my first massage. There are a lot of places that call themselves "massage parlors" but are, sadly, something else entirely and I wanted to avoid that, so I did some very meticulous searching and concluded that Massage Moore had all the boxes checked that I was looking for and booked an appointment in advance to be sure that the big day was reserved. Fast forward and I show up and Ms. Moore immediately went about putting me at ease. She wished me a happy birthday and I was glad she remembered. She gave me a brief tour of her salon, very professional but not clinical, that was important to me. I mean you want the place to be clean and this place was immaculate and professional yet still cozy. I found out later she did the work herself and took great pride in that fact and that she is fully independent and the Boss. She inspected my skin and noted some problem areas (dry skin) that should be addressed. The body scrub and massage itself was way more than I expected. Ms. Moore is a true talent. A real gourmet chef of the flesh. I walked out rejuvenated and ecstatic, and it didn't hurt that I left knowing I was supporting an independent Black Business with my purchasing power. Her studio is immaculate and her services are phenomenal!
