This place is a joke. DO NOT sign up for a membership. If you have to cancel it they insist that you have to email and that it has to be done by a manager. Then they ignore your email. If you call and actually get to speak with a manager they insist that you only put the membership on hold and won't take no for an answer so you end up stuck with a "service" you can even use. Most of the massage therapists are really great but the "management" is absolute crap and untrustworthy. Don't waste your time here, a more expensive massage place that won't hold you hostage is well worth the extra cost. read more

Decent massage therapists, however the whole operation run with profitability in mind rather than customers satisfaction. As an example....even after your initial contract term, you require 30 days to cancel. At the same time the cost of my membership fee changed (obviously went up) within the contract term. Complete lack of common sense from a customer service perspective. Complaints will not be dealt with, it will be escalated to management. You will not hear back from management. And if you do, there will be no flexibility. No reason to get a membership, save yourself the frustration. read more

It was the worst experience I have ever had and if I could give them zero stars, I would. The worst part is I can never get that hour of my life back. My first massage was good, enough to make me want to try again. Since I wanted more pressure the second time, I asked for a deep tissue massage and a therapist was recommended to me. This therapist seemed inexperienced and unsure of himself, applied light pressure when I asked him twice to be more firm. The biggest thing that annoys everyone is when the receptionist asks every customer if they would like to leave a gratuity to the massage therapist, and does so very loudly as to embarrass you in front of everyone in case you don't. Basically stealing my money..... I went in for a massage 2 months ago and was told about their monthly memberships to lower the costs of the massages. I was working....things were good...I was anticipating on using their services 3 times a month.... The company I worked for went bankrupt a week later and I lost my job. Explaining this numerous times to the Massage Heights location at 130th, they are willing to do jack squat for me. I simply can not afford the $155 dollars they want to continue taking from my account EVERY MONTH even though I can not afford to get massages. I have written their head office and disgusted that they will not void this ridiculous membership when I will never be returning and can not afford it....period. I went here because I really REALLY needed a massage...it was my first time here and I was thoroughly impressed! Being an Esthetician myself I loved the vibe of the place and the cleanliness and layout of the business. I didn't wait long before I was called up to get my massage, getting into the room and it was nice and quiet and warm with a lovely bed and blankets..I was so excited! Turns out I had a pinched nerve in my back and the therapist I got actually explained to me where it was, how to help it, and that she has paramedic background! I have been with Massage Heights Southland for years. A lot of changes with staff and masseuse have happened but I stil stuck with them. I have u whole family patronizing the even thought they're a bit far from my place. But it seems they're just getting worse and the last incident finally break the camels back. Last Dec 22, 2018 -at 5:50 pm I went in for a scheduled hour massage - I was notified by the receptionist that my account was suspended because the payment for Dec 15 didn't go through. Apparently two days before I realized there were fraudulent transactions on my credit card hence it was cancelled and the bank would send replacement within 10 days. So that fateful Dev 22 at Massage heights Southland - they asked me to pay the missed payment on Dec 15 first before I can use up my already post paid massage hour credits. The lady at the reception said she cannot do anything until I pay first and I can't use my already scheduled and paid for massage session. She can't do anything because the computer doesn't allow her I refuse to pay saying you wait until I receive my new card then I will call you and give you my new account information. In the first place I still have 3.5 hours of massage credit to use. But nope! They just won't let me use my already / post paid credits I cancelled my account right there and then and told them I will just use up my remaining credit hours. My partner and my kids will also cancel their accounts coz they don't have time for this bullshit. And I promise .:: I will do my bery best to convince all my friends to cancel their account at this Massage Heights Southland and move to a different massage place instead of patronizing this ridiculous company with no sense of customer service at all. Another thing, they ask you to remove your shoes when you enter their place and yet their floor is so fucking filthy - it's so disgusting with all that dirt marks from shoes from outside - then they have the nerve to ask you remove your shoes - yeah so they can also make my socks and feet dirty as well. Went to the Mayfield Common location, was asked to be there fifteen minutes early to fill out a medical info form. My appointment was at 10, I arrived at 9:45, sat and waited till 10:10 and watched as 3 people who can in after me who also had 10 o'clock apps, go in. Was totally ignored until I got up and walked out! Horrible staff and terrible experience. Oh ya and they tried to sell me a membership before I even got the massage! Never go there, it is just a cash grab and Carrielle's is way better, they actually pamper you, even if you are not a member. You get what you pay for. Stay away. read more

A very misleading massage parlor with the information they provide you. I booked an appointment telling them that, I have to claim the money from my insurance and they told me that, they will be getting me the therapist who is registered and I will get the money back. In the end they tell me that there might be a case with the person that gave u a massage, that you might not get paid for it and told me that they will give me a better person next time who they know if a registered person. I wish I had been given the option of booking someone who is a better massage therapist. I would have got quite some money back. The massage was anyway not good at all. read more

When driving on Mcleod Trail, near Southland Crossing, I noticed a sign that said Massage Heights was offering massage for $60 an hour. Anyone who has received a professional massage before knows they usually cost around $80 at least. I called on a Friday, and was able to make a booking for Sunday. I get to the place 10 minutes early to fill out the requisite forms, and the owner starts asking me about my massage habits, as well as if I get them covered by benefits. She goes on to tell me why her place is superior to other places and tells me she'll talk to me more about it when I am done. I had Jeanine for my massage. She asked me a few questions before we got started, as per usual, and a few minutes later started my massage. She didn't talk too much, which was great, but did answer any questions I had. She used a very different technique that I had never come across, that included asking to participate actively with a few small movements while she massaged me, and that helped get deeper into the muscles. I felt some slight pain, due to her pinpointing areas I need to sstretch more, but that's what i had wanted/asked for.. A great bonus was when I told her I get cold, and to pardon my freezing feet, she offered to put the table heater on. It was so great, as this helps your muscles relax. All in all, it was one of the best massages I've had and Jeanine was a great therapist. I get out and the owner then tried to finagle me into buying a memebership for 3-6 months to start, and puts on the pressure tactics. i told her I had to see how much was available on my benefits package for this year. She then told me I would have to call her by Thursday. If not, when I booked another massage I'd have to pay $120 - which is their regular price. I didn't like the way I felt pressured by her. She told me I could just give them the banking info and the massage charges wouldn't be debited until the following month. Anyways, the following day they called and followed up with me, but only to see how I felt, which was a nice touch. I gave this place a 3 because of the pressure sales tactics (the owner was nice btw), and the huge increase in price if you don't buy a membership, and I give the place itself a 4 for the way it looks; cleanliness, esthetics, etc. I give the therapist Janine a 5, because she was excellent. Needless to say, if you are in a position to buy a membership, this place is great. read more

Pros: inexpensive compared to other massage places, ok massages Cons: they do not give you a full hour massage as they book clients back to back and they don't manage it well. When a client comes in, they should take you back to a free room 5-10 mins early so you can change and be ready for your massage at your appt time. I've had appts where i don't even get into the room to change until 10 mins past my appt time; then I have to change and then the massage started - 15 mins late. And they still stop at the original end time instead of extending it by 15 mins. Then they have the nerve to ask for a tip! They already got their 'tip' by me paying for a full hour when I only got 45 mins! Other cons: cramped waiting arena, no place to shower if you just came from work, general rushed atmosphere. This is definitely the budget version of a massage. I don't think the therapists are that experienced either...the massages are just ok. If you just want a fast cheap ok Massage, this place does the trick in a pinch. But if you are actually looking for an experience that is truly enjoyable, go to a spa where they take care of you and you get a change room, showers, etc. read more

I have been going to Southland location now a year ... every single session the massage has been less time than what you paid for ... the front desk apologizes that it won't happen again and they will make note ... it happens again ...you ask to speak with manager and no one gets back to you ... I will now contact franchise head office ...when you pay for 60 minutes ...you should get 60 minutes of massage ... otherwise it is a scam ...there are a few good ones ar this location bit others I have had are very lazy ... they don't do what you request for deep tissue massage ...when you indicate low back ... they do your arms ... incompetent .... I thought I'd give Massage Heights a try as it is close to my house and convenient to get to, besides the website looked great. I was thoroughly disappointed with my massage. I was specific about what I wanted massaged in the hour appointment and specifically asked the massage therapist to work on my hips and neck. She didn't touch my neck and spent as much time on my feet (which I didn't mention) as she did my hips. Furthermore, I asked her two or three times that I'd like more pressure. Rather than taking into consideration about what feels best for me, she once replied defensively that she was warming up the muscles and then never did increase her pressure. This was the most disappointing massage I ever received. I did mention at the front desk that I was totally dissatisfied with the massage and was asked to fill out a service response feedback sheet, which I did. Unfortunately, no one called to follow up. Very poor service. I had horrible experience at the Northeast location. From misrepresentation from their part to going home with bruises all over my body. I was in pain for weeks instead of relaxing I was more stressed and in a lot of pain. Some of their therapists are not licensed by Insurance because they don't have enough hours therefore you end up paying for your massage because your Plan will not cover. They gave me complimentary massage, when I went there after waiting more than 10 minutes they told me their therapist could not attend me because she was too emotional and I should be assisted by a male therapist instead. This has been the worst customer service ever in this Industry. Very disappointed. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I got a 60 MINIUTE MASSAGE gift card as a gift for mothers day, as a new mom this was very exciting for me! My appointment was at 8, the massage therapist did not even come to get me until 815, 15 minutes late. Nobody acknowledged me or this entire time I was in the waiting area either. The massage therapist acknowledged that she was late once we got into the room, but still no apology. She did mention that I would still be getting the full 60 minute massage. She did not begin until approx 817 and then she still finished at 9pm, 45 minutes later, NOT THE FULL 60 MINUTES ! how disappointing- WONT BE BACK! read more

Very disappointed today with customer service at Signal Hill I've been a member for 2 years and always found customer service to be quite good until today. At my last massage my receipt was for wrong amount and wrong therapist and didn't noticed it until a couple of weeks later. I made a special trip to salon to request it be corrected so I could claim it and was met with attitude and made to feel like a nuisance by 2 receptionists. There was no ownership in their error. No apology or anything. I'm not sure if my therapist even received her tip. I get that errors happen and wasn't worked up about it until I got the attitude and made to feel that I didn't know what I was talking about. The receipt was corrected. I do share some of the complaints others reviewers have listed like unable to get appointments, high turnover of massage therapists, not getting the full hour or even 50 minutes on many occasions. When I find a good therapist, I try to stay with the same one but unfortunately they do not last long if they are good. read more

By far the worst massage place I have ever been to. I went to the Mission location, the place itself is ok but the staff is terrible. From the moment you call to book and appointment they try to up sell you with any product/service you can think of, not to mention the pressure for tipping as well. The massage therapist... oh boy... not even sure how he even got licensed. I told him what areas I was concerned about, he did not care AT ALL. He rushed through the entire massage that was supposed to be a 60 min massage and ended up being about 45. I do not think this person knew anything about muscles, or he had any interest on the work he was performing. When I left I was asked how my massage was, I said "terrible". They rushed to get me out of there so other customers would not listen to my comments. One of the girls gave me an email address where I could send my comments to, I spent the time writing in detail about my experience but I never heard back from anybody in their office. If you want to go to the "Walmart" of massages, go to Massage Heights. You will save a few dollars at the expense of an absolutely terrible service. read more

Every time I go to this place, I always try and come with a positive mind, but am ALWAYS disappointed. It's either FREEZING cold, there is makeup product on the sheets from the client before or they use insanely hard pressure despite my telling them I would like a light pressure massage. I am usually in more pain when I leave. My last massage the woman wore GLOVES. I am cancelling this membership they basically pressured me into taking in the first place. I also used the 4th Street location. I live in the neighbourhood and thought, what the heck, I'll give it a try for $60, and so I headed in about a week ago. Short story: save your $60 and put it towards a good massage. Long story: I came in on a rare day off for what was advertised as a spa like experience without the spa price. The girls at the counter were, as others have noted, maybe 20 years old, with very little customer service. I was bombarded with questions repeatedly about how Im doing, how my day is going, how was my weekend, what my plans are for this upcoming weekend... Clearly my one word answers were not an obvious enough social cue for them. On top of that, while I was waiting another girl came in for her massage. Like me she completed the intake paperwork which asks, among other things, to list your profession. It turns out we are in the same, highly confidential, profession, which we found out as the girl at the desk exclaims to both of us, hey you both are _____. God lord. You can imagine my relief when my therapist came to grab me from the waiting room. The space is very small overall, and the rooms are certainly nothing special. You can hear noise from the hallway, other rooms and waiting area, but overall the room was fairly standard. The massage therapist had a very quick conversation with me about areas of concern, full body, etc. Little did I know that full body to this woman means focusing on the face (yes, not head, face) and butt. Whats worse, her technique seemed to be more of a find a pressure point and pulse on that spot, than a rub. I cannot actually remember her rubbing any part of my body at all. Dont get me wrong, I am no massage therapist, but something tells me this woman isnt either! It was truly terrible and I was uncomfortable the entire time. Once dressed I headed down to pay and I was faced once again with the unsolicited chatter from the girls. Like everyone else, I was encouraged to tip and had to give an amount out loud (there is no option to add on the debit machine). I have since received phone calls (2 in three weeks) asking me if I would like to come in again. Overall it was not an experience I would care to repeat, nor would I recommend it to anyone else. read more

I have just been there and the experience stressed me!! I made reservations for my boyfriend and me, since this place seemed to have reasonable prices and it's close to our home. Everything seemed to be ok at first, the lady at the front desk offered hot stones, facial (and something else that I don't remember now) for $12 dollars, as extra service, I thought it was a reasonable price and took it for my boyfriend and me. Everything seemed to be ok with the massage, except for "Peter" who told my boyfriend, that he could have given more details about care, by the end of the session, but that he had another client waiting for him and left in a rush. When we were paying, the full amount didn't make sense to me, so I used the calculator in my cellphone, and I was right! They were charging me $16 dollars more than what I had calculated(including $12 dollars for the extra hot stones massage). I asked, if they were adding tips and the front desk woman said no, and that they would charge that later. I told her that I was being overcharged, and she said that hot stones were $20 dollars, but strangely my boyfriend and I heard $12 dollars(they never mentioned $20 dollars for anything before) and of course, all this after pushing you to take a full program with misleading prices. In the end, they lost a client, not because of the quality of the massage, but for their misleading information, their rush and their poor customer service skills. read more

This was my first time to massage heights and I wasnt impressed. I booked 1 hour and a deep tissue massage. I was told to arrive 15 mins early to complete paperwork since I am a new patient, which I did. I was done the paper 10 mins before my appt time but the girl did not come get me until a couple mins after the massage should have started. I was under the covers and ready at 5 mins after, she came in about 10 after and started with aromatherapy, something I dont care for. The massage was good. I liked the heated table. We were done 5 mins early. Basically the hour massage was only about 40 mins. I would rather pay more and get a great massage for a full hour. Due to the convenience of the location I am going to try a different massuse at the same location to see if it was just that one girl that was ripping me off.At this time I would not recommend massage heights. read more

The massage was good and affordable but won't be going back to Massage Heights on MacLeod Trail. This is because my group benefits plan refused to pay the claim. The insurance company told me that in Oct. 2012 a large number of RMTs in Alberta were excluded from being covered by the the insurance industry (apparently including the one I used) due to insufficient qualifications. You can google this. The bottom of the receipt contained a statement that there were no refunds if the insurance company wouldn't cover it (my first clue). Again, good massage, but you may be paying out of your own pocket whether you have insurance or not. Would recommend using reputable massage providers and possibly verifying ahead of time with your insurance company. Regulation on who can call themselves an RMT seems to be very weak in Alberta. read more

I went to Massage Heights SW location yesterday in need of some relaxation. The massage itself was really nice but the massage therapist talked almost the whole time so I never felt really relaxed. The front desk was my biggest upset, not only did they ask me before I went into my massage about the massage membership monthly program ( of which my benefits did not cover and I expressed financially massages every month are not doable) but when I got out the front desk decided how much I would be tipping for me, gave me the wrong receipt and would not take no thank you for an answer regarding the program. Even after I said no more than twice she insisted that I be signed up today. It was very uncomfortable and I will not be going back other than to get my proper receipt. read more

My boyfriend bought me a couples massage there for Christmas and we finall went to the Crowfoot location to get the massages. I asked for a deep tissue back and neck. I have never been in such pain from a deep tissue massage before. Normally I go to a Sports Massuse so I thought maybe the technique was different and I would feel better after the massage. I was wrong. I have small bruises on my back and my neck and back are severely tender, even after following the instructions given to sit with heat, have a warm bath, and to drink lots of water. I also receied a free foot scrub which was unsatisfying as well, she barely scrubbed my feet before putting on a warm towel and then when she came back to massage lotion in, she barely spent 30 seconds on each foot. In addition to the rough massage I disliked how afterward the woman at the front desk pressured us to purchase a monthly subscription to come in over and over, when she was quite pushy. They were extremely pushy and wanted me to sign a 1 year contract. After ONE experience with them? That's a pretty big commitment to make, if you ask me. I did, however, agree to six months. Well, it turns out, it doesn't matter how short or long of a term you agree to because they will keep billing you and billing you and billing you. It's complete bulls$#%. Called them today to sort this out and the LOVELY salesgirl asked me (with a very snotty attitude) whether I had brought in a notice of my cancellation in writing, 30 days before the end of my contract. Um no, of COURSE I didn't. It was my understanding that by signing a 6 month contract it would be done in, you guessed it, 6 months!!! Why even bother with the charade of having "6month" or "12month" contracts? It just makes no sense to me. Extremely poorly run company, and I can't WAIT to be done with this hell hole. read more

Today I am writing about corporate customer service. Recently, I had a very uncomfortable, inappropriate experience with a male therapist and I left the massage early. The front desk staff were not helpful (they never are) and there was insufficient follow up from "corporate". I had to call them to report the problem. A customer service rep then called to speak with me and left a message but did not leave a phone number. I called corporate again, and the same woman eventually called back (she was on vacation) and left another message saying my file would be closed if I didn't call her immediately. I don't think Massage Heights should impose deadlines on clients who have had subjective experiences which border on sexual assault. I am reluctant to return to use up my banked massages and they just keep accumulating. I cannot get out of this program and am charged every month. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS PROGRAM. I stopped by the Massage Heights on 4 st SW to check it out. they have a special offer where you can try them out for $59. They were able to book me in right away - a nice surprise! Inside is very relaxing, it feels like a full spa. The massage therapist introduced herself and asked questions as to what i wanted as we were walking to the room. it was one of the better massages that i have had and for half the price that i've paid in the past. At the end of the massage the therapist made some suggestion on some specific stretches i could do given that i spend so much time on the computer. When i was checking out, they explained that there regular price is over $100 but that if i bought a membership i could come in as often as i like for the same $59 per visit. the membership means that they charge me $59 per month so it's like agreeing to at least 12 in the next year. i love massages (usually get 2 or 3 a year) and am used to paying a lot more so decided to treat myself and buy a membership. Unlike most spas, this one is easy to get to and easy to park. i'm looking forward to my monthly visits! read more
