I hate to write negative reviews, but I wanted to write this one because it did turn positive towards the end. I became a member at this location in 2011. The past 10 years have been a love-and-hate relationship. Like many others, I stopped going to these wellness sessions after COVID. And I had a lot of acquired sessions due to the monthly membership. This year in September, I wanted to make an appointment but discovered my account was suspended. I started calling this location, and from the first call, I learned it was because of an expired credit card. Since September, I have called the location 6 times (into November) and was always told by the front desk they would have the owner call me, but I never received any calls. I was frustrated but didn't want to unleash my anger at the front desk staff because they were informative from day one, but they were equipped with the right tools to help me. That's something only a manager or the Owner can do. But I was told in late October, their manager was on leave. Finally, in November, I got to the Manager, Mayuri, and that's the best thing that had ever happened in the past 3 months. She took matters into her hands, called me back the next day as she promised, and I was able to resolve the issue in less than 15 minutes over the phone. When I looked into my emails, I noticed Mayuri, again, was the helpful manager who assisted me during COVID time when I had to put the membership on hold. If it weren't for the pleasant experience with Mayuri, I would have left them after 11 years of loyal membership. And to the owner, I don't know who you are, but if you are not going to take care of your customers (like all these promised calls), please at least empower your employees with the right tool to assist customers. Because if it weren't for these polite, nice people over the phone, many would leave this membership. read more

( see pix) Young help, note all massage Therapist- licensed- 2 years schooling. Verbal noting from staff - that they are all good. Each uses Mix therapies - Swiss light deep pressure point. Memberships are 1x a mo for 1 ht. 6 mo or 12. Pay on card per month. Yes they also do facials for those who want - membership is counted as one treatment or the other. No insurance taken.pay upfront. Trial and error and can request specific masseuse once established. Was told to schedule for tomorrow or there after. Could have used it today. In person Customer service is a 10/10 I scheduled on the app and it was seamless Because of long hours of computer work, my right painful right shoulder was definitely in need of targeted massage, Rodney asked all the right questions about targeted areas as well as areas he should not focus on! Avoid this place. Had an appt that I set up over a month ago. I was called the day prior to confirm my appt by associate Alexa. Alexa left a message that I saved that stated to only call back if I want to cancel. I show up and am greeted by the unprofessional manager Mayuri Tandon who tells me she cancelled my appt. Then has the audacity to blame me for not responding to two emails that I never received and it's my fault that since im not a "member we couldn't contact you" lol didn't they call me ???? Just a total waste of an hour of my time. Disgusting customer service. Horrible manager. I'd give zero stars if possible. Somehow there was an issue with the booking system where two 1-hour timeslots were booked. The confirmation call and texts received from Massage Envy indicate only a 1-hour appointment. The location charged me for 2 hours and the manager will not return my call. My appointment was the first for the day on a cold day. The room and bed were not warm, almost as if no heat was on. The massage was just okay, not worth $130 and CERTAINLY not worth the $260 charged. Complete waste of money. In response to Massage Envy's reply below - I have completed that form, twice. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THE MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP IF YOU INTEND TO USE THIS LOCATION. Cannot recommend this Massage Envy location. Especially if you are considering the monthly membership. The issue with this location is clearly one of management. The desk staff and therapists have always been pleasant and provided good services...on the rare occasions that services were provided. In the past 6 months at least 6 massage appointments have been canceled, by Massage Envy, on short notice (less than 24 hours, or within hours of the appointment). These appointments were made 6 weeks ahead of time due to the locations very limited appointment availability. Upon cancellation, no reasonable replacement appointments were offered. (An weekday evening appointment would be offered a work day morning appointment.) Illness, or personal issues for therapists necessitating the need to take time off are understandable. But management not taking any steps to have other therapists fill in for a full day of canceled appointments is mind boggling. The frequency of cancellation is beyond frustrating. As a monthly member you are trapped by the sunk cost of the membership. With each cancellation, monthly accredited "free" massages accrue with no means of using them. At the end of 6 months you have a collection of sessions that you have already paid for, that you will lose if you cancel your membership. Staff will be pleasant through all these cancellations. But their hands are obviously tied by the mismanagement. They will offer to have their manager contact yo over the issue, but that call will never come. If you are set on Massage Envy, be sure to have an alternate location you can use. read more

She did a short interview so I could explain the areas where I needed attention, back and neck, and she was very attentive and I was completely at ease. This is review is specifically for Rodney at the Plainview location. He is excellent. He understands and really listens to what you need. I need deep massage. Not JUST firm. DEEP. Rodney keeps up the pressure throughout the entire massage exactly where it's needed. I find that other therapists spend a little bit of time with the right pressure in an area and then they just do their own thing. Rodney is excellent! read more

My favorite therapist Z works at this location so i keep returning here. They take your temp upon entering and you have to fill out a covid related release form. Masks are required by all including when you are getting a massage. They stopped doing foot scrubs at this time. Do Not join this location. I cancelled my membership and I'm still being billed 3 months after. The manager is impossible to speak to. She won't come to the phone and has never returned my call. The girls working there lie about the manager being there and all have attitudes My issue is still not resolved I'm unable to speak w/ the manager who said in the past she was going to credit my account and cancel my membership and she hasn't done either and this is the 3rd time they' still continue to charge me while still not canceling my membership and no call back after leaving several messages for 2 months. And Lois, she actually calls her self "Lois the queen" constantly tells me the manager is responsible and says the manager will call me back. She too constantly lies for the manager. I decided to try the plainview location for convenience and also heard and read good things. I went for a massage and Liz was my massage therapist. She was great!!! :) filled out a short questionnaire on where my pain is and problems. I find that so useful because I have much more pain in my neck and shoulder areas than others. Part car accident- part stress- oh and sore muscles because I decided to go kayaking at gilgo beach on Sunday. Thought I could once again race the boys but we all just ended in a mess! (Still worth it :) She asked me what I'm comfortable with and not and where to concentrate. Some people don't like a foot massage or hair but I do!! It's a rainy day so I had no problem with a bit of messy hair. That's what hats are for! Her technique was great. I actually could breathe so much better after! They also have memberships and products that I will definitely consider next time I go. Not sure if it will be a facial or massage ---- or both! read more

First time I was there was on par for a massage spot. Got the one guy everyone raves about (some large European man, Z something maybe), had some major knots in my back. When we were done (average-slightly above average massage) he told me to 'massage out my knots by rubbing my back on a doorway' for post care. This place is close to my house so the very sweet receptionist somehow convinced me to buy a package of three more massages. My next one was with Darren I believe his name was, he talked the entire time, was abrasive in his personality, kept telling me to relax my muscles (whenever I mentioned I was he adamantly told me 'no you're not') while massaging me 100 miles an hour. Talked over me when I was trying to describe where my pain was. Took several months and I just went back. Got a massage with Valerie. I've had a stiff neck for over a week and when she asked me if I had any specific pains, I also marked this in the online check-in, I specifically mentioned my neck several times. She started out with me on my back gently rubbing my shoulders/lower neck. Continue with the whole massage when I finish face down. I assume my neck is going to be worked on to finish, but she works my lower back and arms and then it's done. Asked about my neck and I literally got no response. I still have one massage left on this card and I'd rather massage myself in my doorway. Shame zero stars isn't an option. read more

After many attempts to get the district manager and the regional manager on the phone or via email, there have been zero replies from them. After many years of lack of communication with price increases and constant staff changes, it was decided to cancel my membership. Upon making my initial call to get information I was told that the manager would call me back. Instead of a call back I received an email explaining the process of canceling and a form to fill out for canceling I made my opinion known on how distasteful the lack of phone call was, the manager proceeded to wait a few more days before returning my call and decided to argue with me. Upon ending the phone call, she said that she would email me the district managers email and they would get in touch with me. After five emails to both the building manager and district manager I've yet to receive any phone calls back. I definitely would not recommend this location. Especially since I was a customer for over 10 years- terrible way to treat long term customers. read more

I, typically, visit the Massage Envy in Bayside but they still have not brought back Stretch to their menu of services since the pandemic. I decided to try stretch at this location because the receptionist spoke so highly about Marcel that she sold me on him. He did not disappoint. In fact, he impressed me so much I booked another stretch next week. I've been suffering from bursitis in my hip for over a year now and have tried pilates and PT for relief but the improvements have been minor. Marcel listened to what I needed and helped stretch my him area and the surrounding muscles. When I left, I was able to sit with my knees crossed and push my knees down. This is something that I haven't been able to do in over a year. I have had stretches in other locations and am not new to this. Today for the first time, I feel pain free and more flexible. If you need a good stretch and are having issues with your flexibility, you should see Marcel. I am 54 years old and need to take this issue seriously to prevent future hip injuries. I thought really hard about leaving this review because too frequently people leave negative reviews out of spite or some kind of perceived minor slight like they had to wait too long for service. That being said, this was probably the worst massage I have ever received and I really hope this review helps enlighten the business to the professionalism of some of the staff members they employ. The front desk staff were pleasant and accommodating. They called me approx 1 hour prior to the appointment to let me know the therapist was running late. No problem. After arriving they hand you some forms to fill out. The paperwork gets into areas you would like to see addressed and specific techniques/pressure you like. The paperwork was easy enough but quite detailed and took a bit of time. Everything was fine until the actual massage. Every massage I have ever been to was executed systematically and you could understand the progression between pressure and locations. There was no sense of purpose with the massage. I asked for deep pressure and I barely felt any pressure. The therapist kept repeating different areas but using a technique more like rubbing than actually massaging. Every time the therapist went to get new lotion they just plopped the ice cold lotion on (causing me to jump) without warming it in their hands first. The worst part of the whole experience was that the therapists hair was draped over my face after I turned on my back and I could smell every cigarette that was smoked prior to the appointment. Horrible experience and probably the worst massage I have ever had. The front desk staff pleasantly asked how everything was and I just handed my gift card over and couldn't wait to get home and shower. I don't want to bash the place because other people seemed to have enjoyed their time there but my experience was far from enjoyable. read more

honestly i was holding back on writing this review because i was trying to give these girls the benefit of the doubt but, i've had enough. the therapists and aestheticians are great. HOWEVER ... the staff in the front are completely incompetent. they never have straight answers to simple questions. they don't understand how to explain a simple membership. it's unreal. not to mention, they have attitudes when you don't understand THEIR confusing MISinformation. I had a question about my membership and the billing cycle and how much I would have to pay if I received a second service that month... it took 3 different "hold on's" to explain something so simple. all they kept telling me was that my billing cycle is the 30th. and that i dont have any credits. UMM that's not what i asked. i asked a very simple question. what's the difference i would have to pay to receive a second service this month. her attitude was unacceptable and her knowledge was non existent. today my mother received a massage and i received a facial. i upgraded to microdermabrasion and knew i had to pay an extra 50$. when it was time for checkout, the girl tells us that we both owe $50. when we asked her why she looked at us with a blank stare and couldn't explain why. she then went to the back to get someone else to come up front and explain. the girl came to the front and had an attitude and said "i dont get what the issue is" ... so we said she is telling us that we both are $50 and nobody was explaining why....... she said it because our billing cycle is the 30th not the 29th. ONE DAY DIFFERENCE!!! they could have just asked us or told us they would be switching it the date to today, considering you are able to pull the payment back 10 days. there's always an issue there. never just an in and out experience. always confusion and a headache. and it's very uncomfortable. if this place doesn't fix these issues i will cancel. both our memberships AGAIN. read more

Every time my wife makes an appointment the store calls to change the time and makes it very inconvenient for her to get massages. She has too many prepaid visits and cannot find the time to get an appointment because the locations are booked for 2 months or so. We have requested for the franchise owners to contact us to assist my wife with her issues, but we have not received any phone calls from them or heard back from anyone in management. Everything was great till my non-chiropractor massage therapist decided it would be a good idea to stretch me. I have metal rods attached to my spine which I both told the therapist, as well as wrote down in the in-take paperwork. The gentleman has never seen my X-rays. It is not a good idea, and borderline a legal liability, for a non-chiropractor to be stretching/twisting people, especially without X-rays or some form of radiological evidence present. Even after I told him to stop, he said I needed to "relax" and did it again. It hurt bad enough that he went back to massaging the area he hurt by his actions. It still hurts and it's been over a week since I've had my massage. I gave 3 stars cuz everything else was ok. I even tipped the guy. But I'm really hoping that his actions don't result in complications of my already messed up spine. read more

When you are in excruciating & agonizing pain & are paying for a service that will help you by calming you & soothing you... I suffer from sinuses and when I get stressed, my back tightens up and upper back to where I get headaches. Needless to say I get massages often, but haven't found a place to go to more often till now. Melissa K. at this location is a LIFESAVER. Not only do I no longer experience such terrible stress and tension in my back, but I also don't get sever sinus attacks anymore. I've been going to her for a year now and I won't go anywhere else. Unfortunately, I am writing a bad review because this establishment has been unable to cancel my membership for months. This has nothing to do with the therapists who work there. I called several times and was told a manager would call me back- no one ever called. Finally, I physically went into the building and filled out a form. I was told a manager would call me back- again never got a phone call. A week later I went into the building again and was told the manger would call me back. Still haven't received a phone call. I am disappointed in the customer service. I have been paying for a membership that is not needed for months because "the manager" doesn't get back to me. STAY AWAY!!! While some of the massage therapists are good the desk staff and management are rude and completely unhelpful. You sign up for a membership then it's almost impossible to get an appointment. Unless you're booking for more than a month out chances are you won't get one. Yet the monthly charges just keep going. You tell them you want to cancel and they tell you that if you cancel you will lose your prepaid massages but you can't get an appointment. When you complain they get nasty. Then they pretend like they're doing you a favor by "freezing" your account but you still have to pay a monthly fee so that you can access your massages but don't accrue anymore. And you can only freeze it for a few months but they don't tell you this ahead of time. Then if you want to give them to your friends they only allow you to give 2 credits away and charge a transfer fee. Whenever you call the front desk staff tells you only the manager can help you but you have to call 20 times or show up before the manager finally calls you back. They smooth things over for 5 minutes you think it's resolved then boom you find additional charges and the cycle repeats. Then they tell you that you have to call 10days to a month before you want anything done bc that's just the way corporate is. And if you go through all of this and manage to get a massage appointment you show up 10 minutes early they rarely take you into the room on time it's usually a few minutes later then they give you time to undress which the last few times I went was longer and longer (up til 10 minutes) then you get your 60 minute massage which is already down to 50 minutes then they end at least 5 minutes early to allow you time to redress which ends up making your 60 minute massage 40-45 minutes and while I recognize every therapist has their own style of massage when you describe to staff exactly what kind of massage you are looking for (they have you fill out a whole form about your preferences) they still don't match you correctly. For example, You tell them you prefer a Deep tissue massage and they match you with a therapist who does not even come close to a deep tissue massage it's disappointing. When you finally find a therapist you like either they quit or it's impossible to get an appointment with them so the cycle repeats read more

I agree with every bad review on here. This place is awful! I have had sooooo many appointments cancel due to "emergencies" and then the rescheduled appointment cancels as well! It's the managements fault for letting their employees call out so much. It's honestly laughable how unreliable this massage envy is. I'm so fed up with them and their BS that I will be driving to a further massage envy even though this one is right down the block, just to avoid canceled appointments and RUDE FRONT DESK STAFF. I am trying to get out of my membership for personal reasons, one being I have no time and another is affordability. I didn't didn't realize it would be so hard to get out of the membership. You have to write in and use up all your credits in two months. I do have a lot of credit, but I don't have the time these days to use them, hence cancellation. They are letting me pay $10 a month instead of the $60, now I have six months to use my credits or lose them. So do be careful and make sure you know what you are doing. It's supposed to be relaxing but now i'm stressed and regretting my decision to be a a member. read more

I have never ever written a review on yelp, or anywhere else for that matter, yet I feel compelled to tell the public about my experience with this horrible establishment. I have been a member for probably 12-13 years. I work full time and have very limited free time, like many other folks. I am able to enjoy "me time" on weekends and after 6 or 7pm weeknights when I get home from work. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get an appointment at this establishment. Each and every time I call or try to book a service online, there is nothing available. The online reservation calendar only shows current month and the following. Always booked solid. Maybe a random 10am on a tuesday, but again, I work, so that's never an option. I now have 54 accrued massages! That's several thousands of dollars that I have already paid them. When I inquired about cancelling, I was told that I would lose all accrued massages. A while back, I was able to freeze the account for a few months so I wasn't being billed the entire monthly amount. That did absolutely nothing because I was, and still am, unable to get an appointment! Ever. So I really don't know what to do at this point. Looking at all these negative reviews, it's obvious many people are dealing with the same thing. I am currently waiting for a call back from the manager (who I was told is on vacation) or the owner. I am considering legal action at this point to recoup the money I have paid them for services they are unable to provide. Maybe a class action lawsuit, as it's quite obvious I am not alone.
