Was the most overrated massage I've ever gotten. Paid for an hour massage and got 40-45 minutes at best. While the masseuse was polite and very professional it was almost like she was going overtly slow so the massage never seemed completed. Massage Envy reminds me of the song "Hotel California" you can sign up for a membership, but you can never leave... and if you do try to cancel your membership, you'll be charged for another months membership, and they may also call and let you know you are being billed for a no-show when you have no record making such an appointment. The automated text messaging system that used to remind members of upcoming appointments magically stopped working which only adds to the frustration. If you aren't a member, don't sign up. Everything was decent enough here until this week. They're now using a third-party call center for their scheduling. A random area code out of Florida called me this week to confirm my appointment. The person left a voicemail and I returned the call to that number since I did need to cancel due to sickness. The girl who picked up was incredibly rude when I tried to discern what her affiliation was with the physical location. She told me, "You called me" in a nasty tone. She told me I would still be assessed a cancellation fee even though I called right before the 24-hour mark. She told me that since it was now after 3 p.m. (the next day's appointment time), it didn't matter. I pointed out that it was after 3 now because we had been speaking on the phone. When I asked to speak to a manager, she was vague and wouldn't put me through to anybody. I asked where she was located and she said the Caribbean. It felt like some kind of weird scam to get info since I had no idea ME switched to a call center. I called the direct number of the location with the 208 area code and a heavily-accented man picked up the phone. I asked if he was in the Caribbean and he said yes, with the call center. I asked him to put me through to the physical location so he did. Taylor talked with me and didn't seem at all concerned with my worry over the experience and lack of communication. I asked if an email blast was going out and she said not all locations are participating with the call center so no. This is just too weird for me that they're outsourcing. Why not improve the archaic scheduling system in their app? When my year contract is up, I'm out. I asked if I could break it early but Taylor said I could only freeze it. I wasn't going to say anything... but yeah, it wasn't great. My boyfriend had booked me for an hour massage on Valentines Day as a gift. I got there about 10 minutes early, filled out their questionnaire, and needed to use the bathroom before the massage. After all that was said and done, I went into the room, and noticed a clock on the wall so I knew exactly how long my massage was. I got undressed and my masseuse, Jason started at 3:03PM for a 3 O' Clock appointment. The massage if I'm being honest, was not at all what I was expecting nor did it reach my expectations. Jason's technique was more kind of along the lines of pressure pointy where he'd press with his body weight on certain parts of my back but didn't really seem to do any type of deep tissue massaging. After he said that it would be hard to complete a full body massage in an hour I told him to just please focus on my lower back and shoulders. I liked that he massaged my hands, but it wasn't for very long at all. He would say "wish I could work more on that area, but unfortunately I have to move on." I feel like as a masseuse it is extremely important to have better time management while giving a massage and moving from limb to limb with equal parts of attention and amount of time... but it wasn't that way. After kind of just pressing all over me and holding that pressure... he then said he wish he could work more but unfortunately time was up. I glanced at the clock. He stopped at 3:55PM. So, at $80 an hour, I lost 8 minutes of what was supposed to be for an hour. I'm looking for somewhere to return to regularly, but this place is not it. This was my second massage I've ever had, so I do not have much to compare it to but I do not feel like dressing and undressing for a massage should bite into any time that you've paid for. read more

It is impossible to book any appointment at any location, ever. I have tried for months, and they never have any openings for any times. I have tried to refund the appointments I already paid for (as a gift), that I literally cannot use, and they also refuse. I cannot even comment on the quality of the massages, it's literally impossible to book them. Very frustrating. read more

I Envy those who can actually schedule a Message when they need it most. This location in Meridian ID, has gone down the tubes. As a Navy veteran with a lot of residual sore areas from serving our country for 22 years, ME seemed like a good idea. Instead, the company is aggressive in making sure they can charge your CC on file, every month, but they don't deliver the messages. I now have over 30 one hour credits I can't use or even give away without additional charges and severe limitations.This is not the way we do things in Idaho. Try scheduling a message within 2-3 months and you too will be disappointed. Another telling sign is the way employees think of them as an employer. On glassdoor ME scores a 1 out of 5 stars. Reportedly, the ME company has been known to keep some of the message therapists' tips. And No, ME owner, I will not use your portal to reach out to complain privately. There is no demonstration in these reviews that this accomplishes anything. How is ME still in business? This consumer needs protection. read more

I have never left a negative review for anyone ever. But this was a terrible experience. I booked my appointment for today months in advance (January and it's April) for a massage and they cancelled it without notifying me. I had requested to be put on a cancellation list and did get an appointment at which time I specifically told the front desk staff to keep my appointment for today scheduled since appointments have to be booked so far in advance and she agreed to do so. I just called to double check and tried to explain the above. The front desk staff who answered the call cut me off and was dismissive, curt and short and asked for my name and number without letting me finish talking. She said "you don't have any appointments scheduled". I explained that I had an appointment scheduled for today. She offered me zero apology or explanation and basically said nothing after I told her that I had an appointment. I asked her if she knew why this had happened and she just said "no". Again, no apologies or explanations. I had to ask her to reschedule as she did not even offer this option. When I told her my availability, she was again rude and short with me and stated that "there is nothing available through the end of July and they are not booking for August until May 2"...so apparently I can't call to schedule until after then. She did not offer any apology for that or thank you for your business but sorry for the inconvenience. Sorry you scheduled your appointment in January and we cancelled without telling you. I arranged child care for this appointment. Like I said, I have never left a negative review before and I definitely feel for people in customer service during this pandemic because people are so hard on them. I get that she probably has no idea how this happened and possibly has had to explain this to other customers throughout day. I get that can grind on you after awhile. Well, I love getting a massage. At Massage Envy, you will need to sign up to get member discount. Members pay monthly fee and will have one one-hour service for free. I personally like it, because it kinda forces me to take care of myself by getting at least one massage a month. All the masseuses I have encountered are very good and professional. No, you can't compare thus to a spa in a 5-star hotel like Four Season or the Wynn Resort in Vegas, but comparing it to lots of massage parlors out there, Massage Envy provides descent priced with professional service. read more

HOT STONE MASSAGE EQUALS INDEFINITE PINCHED NERVE Lori Eastman is the manager for this and the Nampa locations. Gerald is the masseur I received a hot stone massage from a month and a half ago. The massage was relaxing and seemingly wonderful, but halfway during, the face rest was hurting my cheeks so bad that I needed to adjust my head. I pulled my head out of it and laid on each side to alleviate the discomfort on my face. The very next day my neck was in MASSIVE pain and a month and a half later, I am still dealing with what is clearly a pinched nerve. This was only my second ever massage. Gerald, who has been doing this for 8 years, made zero mention that my moving my head might cause me a problem later. I called a week after this occurred and talked directly to Gerald about this and I asked him why he didn't tell me I shouldn't have moved. He said "people do it all the time so he thought nothing of it." He also suggested I do yoga or stretches, use a heat pad or ice pack. None of these remedies or even pain relievers were helping. It has been a throbbing ache in my arm and neck ever since and so much worse when I attempt to sleep. After a month I finally decided to call Lori the manager of both branches. She surprised me with being very understanding and right away offered to help work out the pinched nerve with several free massages. She and I spoke on Friday July 16th and she scheduled me for Tuesday July 20th. The morning of Tuesday she text me "Unfortunately I will need to reschedule the massage we had scheduled for tonight. I have staff out sick and need to cover." I replied with "Okay" and then waited for her to give me a new time/date. Friday rolled around and I asked her via text when we could reschedule. No response. I text the next day asking what I could do to help minimize the pain because it has been difficult to sleep. No response. I called her and left a voicemail on Wednesday July 28th, and she still has not responded. The experience I had started so great and ended so poorly. I will never go to Massage Envy again. Lori needs to hold up to her promises and needs to learn better management skills or this business will never last. I will be filing a complaint with Better Business Bureau as I will now need physical therapy that costs a LOT of money. Consumers BE WARE. read more

I have been going to Crystal for about 6 months. I have had a lot of sports injuries and Crystal is the one person that has the ability to get in there and get the knots out. She isn't afraid to hurt me, she is little but super strong so she can really work the tough spots, she tells me what she's doing as we go along, she is excellent. I like Massage envy. They are not pushy with sales products. It is really easy to schedule and if need be reschedule. I'm pretty specific with who I want so scheduling isn't too tough. Some extra features I really like- essential oils! I really like the option for lavender in my lotion. I don't do this every time, but I love it is an option for when I want it. Another feature I used once but actually don't love - hot stones. Although it was nice, it doesn't get the knots out like hands. Overall, excellent, reliable, and professional. The owner cancels my membership after a complete Hassel for 2 months to find out later he didnt cancel it like he said. Then charged my card and I reach out 4 days in a row leaving a message with manager Lori and she never bothers to call back. They tell me to go through some online bs that they don't respond to for 5 days if at all which what I did for 2 months when they already said they cancelled. Let's begin. I don't write reviews but after dealing with this company's poor ethics and terrible customer service I felt inclined. I'll start with, it takes a couple months to even get on the books.. therefore I asked to cancel my membership and was told I needed to use all my accrued hours before my cancellation or that it would just be money lost. So I scheduled, with a massage envy meridian receptionist, months in advance my remaining packages.. Well it comes to the final month of my membership and due to them losing their facial employee, im out that one appointment. I was told on the 15th of November after my massage by the Meridian ME receptionist that I had 2.5 remaining hours to use before my cancellation. They didn't have any availability for massages the remainder of the month and even the next month. Therefore, after calling again and being assured I had 2.5 hours, I gifted an hour to my Mom. I then went to my final massage scheduled months in advance and upon completion was told I needed to pay for it because I had no more packages. I stated to the receptionist that they had informed me multiple times I had 2.5 hours remaining and that's the whole reason why I gifted an hour. She said that I was free to go home so I tipped my therapist and left. I was told if there were any issues the manager would call the following day. She never called. Then two days later my bank account is charged. Never did I hear from the manager even after calling about the wrongful charge. Terrible ethics, terrible customer service. No. I used to leave pretty solid 5 star reviews, being a customer for 4 or 5 years. I do NOT recommend this business anymore. I did enjoy my therapist but their new owners make policy changes without your knowledge that affects your life. All of my appointments were cancelled without being told. They now only allow bookings out to 3 months and because they cancelled mine and refused to inform me, I am out my normal every two week massage that is needed for my muscle condition leaving me in quite the pinch. Not to mention other concerns I've had and overlooked due to having such a great therapist. They reward new memberships but do nothing for loyal customers. They upcharge essential oils which are common practice in every other place I've gone to and I've gone to a lot of places in all my years. They jacked the prices up massively and no benefit in return. You pay the same price for a 2hr massage that you do for a 90 minute massage elsewhere yet only get a 90 minute massage at Massage Envy. Just learned that by going to a new place after learning my appointment was cancelled without my knowledge. They only offered 90 minutes and I actually got the full 90 minutes which is what I get with massage envy but for the 2hr pricing. I feel like I've been ripped off. I will be cancelling my membership soon and I've been advised to keep an eye on my bank account as they don't like to cancel the charges. read more

I'm really surprised by the negative reviews. I've been getting massage therapy for many years from many different companies. I had a gift card to massage envy over a year ago and tried them out. Fantastic! I love the membership and membership pricing. I've found some of the best therapists around and schedule weekly with them. There is almost always an opening to get in if in a pinch, not necessarily with my regular ladies but with someone. They take good notes to make sure your massage is tailored to your needs for future reference and for other therapists. If you find your person, just make sure to schedule out with them to reserve those spots. Some are in quite high demand. The staff is always attentive and friendly and I've had 0 issues in all the time I've been going to them. I highly recommend them. read more

Follow up: NOTHING has been done to remedy the situation. After I left my review the owner said he would help with scheduling and shock surprise he did absolutely nothing. There is now new ownership, so it's safe to say the old owner bailed and never had any intention of following through. 80% of my services have been cancelled...most same day after I've already arrived. This franchise is seriously a complete joke!! You can't schedule anything. I think it's comical that they are raising their prices. DO NOT give them your money! I don't understand how they can charge you monthly when you can't even receive the monthly service. The fee should be waived every month they fail to schedule you. I will be cancelling once my 6 month freeze expires. The purpose of a freeze is to allow you to use up services...an impossible task when scheduling is nonexistent. This is the worst place in the Boise/Meridian area to get a massage. It is literally impossible to schedule online - no availability for 90 days, and they don't let you schedule any further out. Kept calling to use a gift certificate from my kids, they had paid $150, and Massage Envy promotion added a $40 voucher, so I thought for $190 I'd get at least 3 massages. Instead, I got one. When I tried to schedule, they never had times I could go, and I was not being picky, just wanted evenings or weekend. You can't schedule more than 90 days out by phone, either. Finally got an appointment, but the $40 voucher expired after 90 days. Massage Envy would not honor it. Also found out a 50 minute massage is $120! So without the voucher, I only had enough for one massage - I just gave the extra $30 to the therapist as a tip because I was not interested in spending any more money with this sleezy company. Their program is NOT a good value - $70 per month for a 50 minute service, and you have to commit for an entire year. I know from reading other reviews that they will take clients to court if they try to stop the contract because they can never get an appointment. What a terrible business philosophy. I am so sad to be writing this review. I had my first appointment at this location in June for a chemical peel with Greta (she was AMAZING). After the 35 minute appointment with Greta I felt confident in scheduling another chemical peel at the same location. My most recent appointment was on 7/3 with a different employee and was absolutely nothing like the first experience. From the time I checked in to the time I was paying and leaving, it had only been 15 minutes. That speaks enough volume in itself. I felt very rushed and almost as if my appointment was an inconvenience. During my first appointment my face was washed/cleansed for about 5 minutes before even beginning the layers of the chemical peel. On my second appointment my face was not even washed. It was simply wiped down with a cotton pad and then jumped right into the chemical peel layers. I decided to call the store manager to receive more clarity on what to expect for this service and she told me the clients should expect to have facial cleansing (washing) done, a quick consultation about the peel and then begin the layers of the peel and checking in with the client on a scale of 1-10 how they were feeling with each layer. She said these appointments take around 30 minutes and can sometimes last up to an hour. None of this happened in my second appointment. The manager offered no solutions on how to make this right or fix the issue and instead told me they would talk to their employees to make sure they are all providing the same care. Which is great except I still spent $180.00 and did not receive what was advertised in the facial/chemical peel service. I am extremely frustrated that I did not receive the full described facial experience yet still had to pay the full price. The manager did offer to cancel my future appointment for me which told me she had no plans on wanting to help resolve this issue. read more

I have been a member of Massage Envy for close to 12 years and for a long time everything was great! In he last 2 years however, everything about it has gone down hill. The appointments are booked 3 months out and that is if you are lucky enough to be scheduled with a therapist who doesn't leave. If they leave Massage Envy before your appointment you are not rescheduled with priority, your session is just cancelled. I called to cancel our membership (mine and my husband) and have gotten nothing but a run around. I finally got confirmation it was cancelled and then the premium was taken out again 3 weeks later. We were given 60 days to use credits but there are NO available appointments for at least 90 days. My husband will losing 9 credits and I will lose 5. I can't get anyone to return my calls or emails. They had no problem getting ahold of me to let me know the membership fee is increasing though. THIS PLACE IS A JOKE!! read more

It's pretty bare bones but if you're just in need of a good massage then that shouldn't be an issue. It's clean, the staff is nice and the prices are reasonable. The massages were for the most part fine. After one year under the contract I filled out the form to opt out. That was in February. We finally noticed in July that they were still charging us $50 a month! $250! I took my credit card bill into show them. They apologized and offered to credit our credit card $100 and give us 5 massages. I accepted that, however they kept charging our credit card and when I called to complain (again) they acted like they never heard of me. There were no 5 massages and no $100 credit. I was told to bring my bill in to prove all this AGAIN! I got mad and just wrote an email to the manager and I didn't get ANY reply. In the meantime I have blocked them from charging my card again. So, when you opt out of your contract be sure and block them on your credit card. read more
