I've been to a Massage Envy before and didn't love the experience. Strong sales tactics and the massage therapist didn't quite meet expectations. However, I'm new to Kansas City and was in desperate need of a massage. The front desk staff was friendly and calm in the sales approach, definitely not overly excited and chatty like I'm used to. The massage therapist, Jesse, was absolutely amazing. I would probably go as far to say it's the best massage I've ever had. I was his last appointment of the day and expected him to be fatigued and unable to use the amount of pressure I was requesting for a deep tissue, especially the entire time. I think he actually was using more pressure towards the end and it was exactly what I needed. I can't say enough good things about him. This was one of the very worst massages that I have ever received. and the fact that Amanda made me feel worse, and not to mention that I didn't even receive a full body massage cause she said Well, the first 5 minutes was taken from consultation and the reaming 5 minutes is when you're getting dressed my 60 minutes, really 10 minutes she had the audacity to take away not to mention how I didn't even receive a full body massage just mostly my arms and hands smh ridiculous! also all she did was push her thumbs down in my armpits and certain parts of my back. I have been everywhere to get a massage, from out of the country on a beach to different states, as well as local spots here in Kansas City. NEVER again will I come back to this place. I was here exactly one time about a year ago for a massage. The massage went well enough but at the end, a cashier at the front who'd been a little discriminatory and inappropriate with me prior to my massage began to aggressively try to upsell me additional services, follow up appointments, and membership plans. I politely declined several (5 or 6) times before she finally allowed me to pay and leave. A day or two later, I was sent a text or email asking for feedback about my experience (I can't remember, because, you know, it was a year ago...). I took the survey, answered honestly about how harassed I felt by that cashier and how it actually made my muscles start tensing back up immediately after the massage. Nobody there bothered to follow up with me. I didn't think much of it until I made the mistake of trying to give them another chance just now- I scheduled an appointment on the app and someone, possibly the same cashier with the inappropriate comments over a year ago, went in and canceled the appointment, telling me I was basically banned for telling them in a survey about being harassed. So, uh, yeah, maybe find somewhere a little less trashy and inappropriate if you need a massage, guys. This place will apparently harass you then victim blame and ban you, not even for anything you said while there, but for giving honest answers to THEIR questions on a survey.. read more

I have had lots of ups and downs with massage envy as a whole, but this location has been spectacular for the past year. They have offered more appointments with some of the best massage therapists. Depending on my schedule, I have had a few therapists that have gone above and beyond during my visits. I would like to give shout outs to Kay and Robert. I was trying to use credits and both of these team members had the best suggestions and listened to me to help get me the best possible outcome for my visits. These two members have given me a reason to drive 35 min to an appt when one of the other locations is closer. read more

Price confirmed over the phone was not honored once I said I was paying by gift card. Despite arguing I was charged full rate anyway. Another customer had this same complaint while I waited for my massage. Massage therapist called me 10 minutes late, paid no attention to my requests. What's the point of arriving 20 minutes early for a questionnaire, only to the repeat it to the masseuse, then to have it ignored?? Massage was rushed and not at all relaxing. So beyond disappointed in this place. First off, I had an appointment scheduled for 8am this morning. I was told to be there by 7:40am to fill out some paperwork before my massage. I received a call at 7:36am stating that they needed to reschedule my appointment due to a family emergency. I get that emergencies happen but it would have been nice to know before I was pulling into the parking lot. So, they offer to reschedule me at 2pm same day since they had an opening. I of course got there at 1:40 to fill out paper work. They took me back to wait until my appointment. I was taken back to the room at 2pm and was told to undress while she went back to get the aroma therapy stuff. I would say she was gone for about 5-10 minutes. Once she came back, she got started. When she was done, I looked at the clock in the room which said 2:47pm. I paid for an hour massage and I feel like I was shorted out of 20 minutes of massage time. This was super disappointing! So, I decided to call up there before leaving a review. The girl I talked to didn't even apologize. She just offered a free add on for my next massage. Come on, Massage Envy. Do better. Also, this was my first massage here and by my experience I won't be coming back. read more

I almost didn't come to this location because of terrible reviews. I was really skeptical when I walked up and saw the sign on the door said to call and wait in your car. Then I called and no answer. I got a call back in less than 1 minute and was able to fill out my covid19 survey via text. Immediately after, I got a message that my therapist was ready for me and to come inside. They had my survey printed, had me sign it with a sanitized pen, and took my temperature. Onto the massage... best massage I've had in 3 years. I'm going back before she recommended. Check out and scheduling took a few minutes but my membership is from an out of town location and I used my card to tip. Overall, I am extremely pleased with my decision to give it a try in spite of the negative reviews. Now my favorite masseuse is close to my house!! I had a 90 min prenatal massage with Falisha - her pressure and technique were great! My husband had a 90 min hot stone with Brittney which he would not recommend - minimal pressure but he did enjoy the hot stones. We had never been to a Massage Envy before and did not realize it's a long sales pitch to sign a contract for their membership. Definitely a turn off. read more

They smile but they are not interested in your welfare. The guiding principle of this business is unrelenting fealty to profit. I live in Kansas City but my daughter lives in Overland Park and while visiting her I received a gift of a massage in Lenexa. I was satisfied with the benefits derived tipped my therapist $20.00 and chose to take advantage of the annual package. Now I don't live anywhere near Lenexa and as I do not own a car it is somewhat inconvenient for me to make the trip out there for an appointment but never mind, I was informed that there is a Massage Envy close to home on the Plaza. All was well for the next four months until the Plaza Store decided to begin charging a $20.00 out of area fee form my services. That is when I discovered that each Massage Envy is independent of every other operating under their own set of rules and my membership is not exactly transferrable. Then, the Lenexa shop would not let me transfer to the Plaza since I was "technically" still within their area. Feeling deceived and mistreated, I ceased availing myself of any services after five months. Wrote off the $70.00/mo, saved the $20.00 tip and the $20.00 out of area fee and thus rode out the remainder of my contract at which time I terminated and never looked back. Just be aware that if you think you are going to be treated fairly by this organization, think again. read more

Amy gave me one of the best deep tissue massages i have ever received. She understands the muscles and finds tight spots i didn't even know existed, and works them out. Her techniques work the muscles differently and it relaxes the muscles very well. Lenexa Massage envy has the best customer service too, very helpful and tries to meet the customers needs. I have been trying to switch my membership for a year to Lenexa Massage Envy but the Tom Watson Parkway won't release my membership. Thank you Amy! read more

I booked a massage for my husband and I for his birthday on May 3rd, 2022 at 10:17am with a representative over the phone. Our massage was scheduled for today, May 7th at 7:00pm. I had to have a babysitter watch my son so we could attend and enjoy a date night out and drove 25 minutes from Belton, MO. When we arrived, our appointments were nowhere to be found in the system. The "manager" on duty had nothing to say but ask if I wanted to "reschedule" and they wouldn't be able to help us this evening. One gal even had the nerve to say, "they think that had an appointment today", when explaining our situation to the manager, which I find insulting considering I showed them email proof of my appointments. Very upset and astounded at the lack of customer service when this was absolutely their error. Will not be coming here. Sad and disappointing evening! read more

The massage was just okay, I've had better at both other places and other massage envys. At the end when they tried to get me to sign up for a membership and I nicely declined the girl said "what was the massage not good, is that why you don't want to sign up?" I just thought that was trying to guilt me into signing up and came off very rude. I just don't care to spend money on a massage that regularly. I would go back to massage envy possibly but not that specific location. read more

I was a monthly member for 1.5 years and loved it. Middle of the pandemic I moved to a different state at the same time my credit card expired. After I got a bank notification that the charge had not gone through I assumed that was the end of it since I was on a month to month deal. 2 months later I get a letter in the mail saying I had 7 days to pay the 2 months owed or it would be sent to a debt collector. I called and asked to speak with the manager/owner but was refused and had an assistant manager call me back. The assistant manager told me that sending me to a debt collector was corporate policy and there was nothing she could do, despite the fact that the membership was not used during that period. It is not like I got a massage and refused to pay, there were no services rendered. Then I was informed that while the letter for the debt collector was for 2 months ($130) I would have to pay for a 3rd month if I wanted to pay off the whole debt due to corporate policy. The debt collector letter was dated 10/13/2020 and despite them determining my account wasn't active they then decided to also charge the following month which began on 10/20/2020 just to add to the debt. They then cut me a "deal" and dropped that 3rd month charge if I was willing to pay for the first 2. Since they were holding my credit score hostage I had no choice but to pay despite not having any income during COVID. Then a day later they "accidentally" charged me that 3rd month anyways and had to refund it. I asked for the corporate number since she said what she was doing was corporate policy but was refused. They told me that there is no customer service department for Massage Envy that customers could contact, and there was no phone number for the corporate office they could give. She suggested I send in an email which she told me would be automatically forwarded back to their location. Obviously emailing the person I was currently speaking with was pointless so after 10 seconds on Google I found their corporate customer service number 480-348-8137. I spoke with a customer service rep named Bradley who confirmed that the Lenexa location was violating corporate policy by using a debt collector, and also that they had lied about not being able to give out the corporate number to keep me from contacting someone. In the event of a failed payment such as an expired card, Massage Envy is supposed to keep your account active for 6 months in case you decide to reactivate and after 6 months it is supposed to be closed out without a debt collector getting involved. The customer service rep said that the president and appropriate regional team were reviewing this issue, so I will be sure to update if they ever contact me. read more

Which I did. I sat and talked with the manager 3 times and the massage therapist. Not my fault they didn't write it down or note it in my file. I even called your corporate office. Now 7 months later you are sending me private messages and commenting on my post. Claiming to want to help resolve all issues. You ask me to call the new manager Kimber. I called her and she was clueless and said she couldn't help me. These issues date back 2 years. Too little too late. read more

The previous reviewer should have communicated with the massage therapist better because my experience was fantastic! They fit me in the same day, explained everything so I knew what to expect, and even gave me a tour of their facility. Brandi, my massage therapist was awesome. I wanted a Swedish massage for stress and pain relief with a gentle touch. She checked with me a number of times during the massage to see if she was using the proper amount of pressure for my comfort. She focused on areas I asked for extra attention on and still gave an awesome full body massage. I signed up for membership savings at this location. I can't wait until my next visit! (Add on to review 2 months after original writing: I've had 3 massages from the same massage therapist now, and I have to say - this place is awesome. They are very considerate and helpful, and Brandi is amazing. She takes the time to find out how I'm feeling and any special needs I have before the massage, and focuses on exactly what I ask her to. The hour session goes WAY too fast, and I'm now going for hour and a half sessions. I would say if you have a massage therapist you are not happy with, find another one. But this Massage Envy - in my opinion, is awesome. BTW, one time it was POURING down rain after my massage, and one of the desk attendants walked me to my car under an umbrella. After a recent massage, got up to find soiled sheets were used on my massage table. I asked if I had something on my back which would cause this- it would have been on the upper middle of my back. The massage therapist stated the stain wasn't there before my massage, no show of concern; a nonchalant response. I should have taken a pic. When I spoke to the shift supervisor about this, she stated they used a linen service and the sheets they use are clean. No apology, no offer to go look in their used linens to verify. Not the customer service I would expect given the health code-violating incident. I've been to this location three times and will not be back. read more

Bad customer service. My monthly fee are do on the 21st. My husband and I went the 19th of October. At check out time The Manager Eli mess up and instead of charging us early for our monthly fee he charge us like it was an extra service. A couple days later I was charged for my normal monthly fee. I talked to him to refund me. I call customer service and nothing. Make sure when you get charge they use the RIGHT bottom. ps my file was suppose to be transferred out state and it never did. read more

Called to speak with the manager. The receptionist, Chelsie, said the manager wasn't there. She took my name and number and said the manager would call me back. Next I asked when the manager would be in, so that I could follow up if I didn't hear from the manager. Chelsie replied that she didn't know when her manager would be in. While she may not have known the exact time the manager would be in, she probably would have known a time frame. For instance, "my manager comes in on Monday's, or after 5:00 PM, or every other Wednesday. I just find it hard to believe that an employee can't tell me when to contact them if I don't hear back. This is poor customer service and poor communication. read more

This specific massage envy is literally the worst one I have ever been to. I have been trying for months to cancel my membership and went through all the necessary steps, yet they still charged me. No, I was never reimbursed for the months that it was supposed to be canceled. The people I spoke to were always so rude and in such a hurry. It got to the point where they were no help at all and I had to reach out to corporate. When corporate got back to me they said that this location was supposed to contact me within 48 hours. No one ever contacted me and I honestly couldn't tell you if my membership has been canceled, even though I paid the remaining months ahead of time because I wanted out of the contract so badly. read more

I have been receiving massages for awhile now, and I came to Lenexa to look for relief on my on-going migraines, that's when I found Tyson. He is a wonderful therapist and can really work out your problem areas. He is my favorite therapist and I haven't any therapist that can do what Tyson does! My migraines began to reduce and that wouldn't have been accomplished if it weren't for Tyson! The staff is also very pleasant to be around. I also see Sarah regularly. The person who wrote that the therapist gets to know your body is absolutely correct. Sarah does wonderful work on my neck, and finds areas that I did not even realize need attention. I have met with several other therapists, and have even though I like Sarah best, all of them have been good and have wanted to know how they could meet what I want. The management has been good also. I had a front desk problem once a couple of years ago, and the manager called me up, took care of it, and worked hard to keep my business. I have been very happy with this Massage Envy, and often recommend this place to my friends. In fact I bought a couples massage gift card for some friends for some friends for their anniversary. This place is awful. The therapists are fine. You will get a decent massage- but if you have to talk to any of the managers you'll know why I'm giving this one star. I'd give it 0- but that's not possible. They rope you into a contract and then continue to charge you even after you cancel. I tried to get in touch with EVERYONE to get this fixed- but the owner ignored me and my calls and the manager was rude and belittling. I even had a reply to my post on massageenvysucks.com (from one of the managers) which was arrogant and stupid. If they cared ANYTHING for customer service, I might change my mind- but they only want your money. Find a reputable therapist and stay away from these chains. read more

However, they had no record of this occurring and they best they could offer for my wasted time was an appointment at 9pm. Please do not us MASSAGE ENVY. I could not renew my membership because I went on medical disability and could not afford it. I had credits left over. Because of my illness it was also difficult for me to get there to use my carry over credits. I asked if they would expire and they told me NO they would not. I called yesterday to use one and they said I needed to have used them by a certain date and there was nothing they could do.
