I just had one of the best massages of my life with Ellionah at Massage Envy! I usually prefer 90-minute sessions because 60 never feels like enough time, but Ellionah completely changed my mind. She was incredibly intuitive--she knew exactly where my tension was without me even saying a word. At the start of the session, she invited me to take a shared breath with her and told me to focus on deep breathing throughout so oxygen could reach my muscles. I've never had a massage therapist do that before, and it made such a difference. I stayed mindful of my breath the entire time and left feeling loose, light, and completely free of the tightness and achiness I came in with. I went to this franchise after an accident. I PREPAID $2070 because the insured that hit me company was paying for my recovery, so I had to turn in a receipt. I went to this facility explained my situation. They booked $2070 worth of massages, the first $1070 was on the account the remaining $1000 they MADE me take a gift card. The therapy isn't working, I'm still in chronic pain and need to go to physical therapy, I had for them to refund my $1000, THEY REFUSED stating gift cards are non refundable! I did not ask for a gift card. They made me do this. Now here I am still in pain, Massage Envy Athens, Mark Preetorius refuses to refund my money. I don't think this is right. Terrible experience. My husband and I have been M.E. members for over 10 years, visiting locations all over the country. Our visit to the Athens location on Dec. 26th was without a doubt one of the worst ever. First, the entire salon was very cold. Front staff and therapists alike were wearing coats to try and stay warm. This made for a very cold, uncomfortable massage. My husband's therapist never even showed up. He was informed after sitting in the "tranquility room" for 20 minutes waiting. My therapist was wearing a mask and coughing throughout the session and gave the softest "massage" (if you could call it that) it basically just felt like cream being gently rubbed on my skin. I requested medium-to-deep pressure and I can only assume that she felt too poorly to be able to do so. We will not be back to this location. read more

The therapists are wonderful, especially Jasmine. The owner is condescending, rude, untruthful, and completely unhelpful. Only cares about your money and will talk to you like an idiot if they overcharge you without your consent and offer ZERO help. The office manager was more helpful and way more pleasant. They overcharged me for 3 months and the owner said it was my fault for not finding it sooner (I was recovering from a high risk pregnancy that ended in c-section), not reading my contract (which had nothing to do with this matter), and tell me his hands were tied with corporate and could do nothing to help me. After receiving a gift card for Valentines Day I decided to put it to use for a facial at the Athens location. I have gotten both massages and facials at Massage Envy before but not at this location, and I probably won't ever again. I wrote that I came for relaxation on the card and told the same to my therapist.. who then proceeded to talk my ear off the entire time. She kept talking about random stuff to the point that she ended up even asking where my parents went to high school? I came to relax not give my life story. I gave very short (but polite) answers as to make it clear that I didn't really want to talk and she didn't get the memo. Beyond that she started doing extractions on my nose and stayed in the same area for what literally had to be a good 20 minutes, after letting her know she could move on and not worry about them (it was becoming SO painful because she stayed in the exact same spot) she proceeded to say "Whoops, I get so carried away I forget how much time its been" and told me a story about how one time she was on meds and picked at her face so much she started bleeding and scabbed over because she couldn't feel her skin. Cool. Thats totally what I want to hear from someone picking at my face. Overall I left in a way worse mood than I entered with. Maybe it was a fluky appointment, but I dont wanna risk a bad experience here again. read more

Made an appointment for a massage because I was feeling tight due to hitting a deer earlier in the week. The receptionist knew this was the reason for the appointment. This information was also disclosed on the intake form. It was not until the masseuse took me back to the therapy room did anyone mention they had a "policy" not to massage anyone who had recently been in an "car accident" without a release from a doctor. I have no reason to see a doctor just to get a release for a massage. Do yourself a favor and pick any one of the many massage places in Athens. read more

While they say that they Massage is 60mins that is never the case. The therapist spends 5-7 mins asking you questions and then finishes 5 mins early to change linens. So you get only 45-50 mins of actual massage. I would understand for the first time but as a member and getting 1-2 a month this is ridiculous. Much better values elsewhere. read more

The only reason I rate it 3 stars is because the therapist talked the WHOLE TIME about life experiences. The facial was so relaxing and I couldn't even get relaxed because of all the conversation... Poor Customer service. There are 5 receptionist girls up front who carry on personal conversations for everyone to hear as they are filling out their form. The entire visit I felt like I was being pressured into buying product. I'm paying good money for a facial and trying to get more money out of me feels tacky. I didn't appreciate my esthetician placing the products she wanted me to buy on the counter as soon as I got out of the room. My husband and I went for a couples massage and our overall experience was horrible! First off the front desk tried rushing us to the sitting then after waiting 10 minutes for our massage therapist to come get us the two ladies spoke with us about what we wanted. I must say that neither Theropist gave us real massages. At best it was a rub down only. Im not sure if they were just being lazy or they lacked training. We are truly disgusted with what should of been a relaxing hour and a half of a good massage to help our issues instead it turned into us leaving upset. After taking their survey they sent us Massage Envy only offered my husband a complimentary massage but didn't offer me one which was confusing. I love our Massage Envy in Athens, GA! After my first visit I was hooked. I was a little Leary of having a good massage experience at a chain... Boy was I wrong. I have been going back monthly and have never had a bad massage. I love that I can easily get an appointment after work! Last night I had an 8pm appointment with was great. The facials are wonderful too. It's so clean. Courteous staff. The massage therapist are knowledgeable and ready too customize a massage to fit your needs. The facialist do the same.
