I been getting massages since my early 20s and from across the world, and wow, this has been probably the most impressive massage I have ever had (tied with my hometown therapist in Brooklyn). After a week of hard skiing, and getting ready for mountaineering trips, I needed someone to really prep my body for life, and Elyse was a godsend. Very rarely do I find someone with the combination of strength and body awareness to really give me the deep pressure and the right bodywork. Basically, I felt like a brand new person after walking out. Real talk - I might actually visit my sister in Atlanta more just so I can come back for an awesome massage. If you are do a lot of physical activity, and need recovery, Elyse is your answer that you been waiting for! read more

I booked the "first time customer" special online, which was $85 for an hour massage. To me, that's decently reasonable, but definitely on the high end. The regular prices are way too high for me. But I figured I would give it a try because it's right by my home. It was my mistake that I arrived a couple minutes late, but I did have a bit of trouble finding the space. When I got there, it looked to be closed. I called the number on my confirmation email twice and got no answer. I was about to leave when Elise walked up and greeted me. She did give me a full hour of massaging anyway, so no complaints there. I definitely should have arrived at least 5 minutes early, though! About the massage. The website indicated that deep tissue would cost more, but it was plenty "deep" and rough, as is. Elise did, of course, ask me to let her know if it was ever too much, but I don't like to give alot of critique during massages; I like to let them do their thing as much as possible. But I did have to speak up when it felt like she was repeatedly kneading a softball into my neck!! Some people may love massages like that, but it was honestly far too painful for me. She had some moves where it felt like I was being choked and when she kneading into my scalp, I was wincing in pain. I get that I'm tight and she was just trying to loosen it, but it was just way, way too much pressure! And I am usually one to love deep tissue massages!! When I had no choice but to say that it was too much, she came completely off of my neck instead of just going lighter, which is what I was afraid would happen. Another thing that didn't really jive with me was how much heat and oils she used. I don't really need all that stuff; I'd rather the focus be more on the massage, itself. I was relieved when she finally removed a pile of heating pads that she had stacked onto my back! Even though most of it was not my thing, I think Elise is very nice and caring and talented at what she does! It's also a really nice, private setting. And lots of people will appreciate how strong she is! And yes, I could have taken the time to keep telling her it was too much, but again, I don't like to interfere too much with the therapist's flow. read more

I had a fabulous massage w Kerry. She really puts her whole self into treating you and is super nice. I like the hot towels and also how pretty the treatment room is. StudioPlex in Inman park/ O4W is a great location. You find her studio by walking into the courtyard and going through the glass door on the ground floor near the stairs. Then Massage by Design is in an interior room of suites. read more

Probably the best massage I ever had... and I've gotten a good amount of massages. Elyse was excellent. I had a quad injury and she dealt it with care. I felt so relaxed and amazing during and after. I highly recommend getting a massage here. What a great experience. read more

I saw a recommendation for Kerry Lewis on Nextdoor and decided to check out this place. She responded promptly to my email and I was able to book a 75 minute massage on my next day off. It's located in the building on the beltline with various businesses. It's a small space, but it's a very clean and relaxing environment. I was pretty sore from working out and I carry stress in my neck and shoulders. I walked out feeling like a million bucks. Nearly fell asleep I was so relaxed. Prices are reasonable, too. read more

I highly recommend this establishment. Kerry, the masseuse, provided me with an excellent deep tissue massage for a problematic shoulder. She listened carefully to my description, found the spot and really worked out the knots. Most importantly, I got substantial relief for my shoulder spasm and shoulder pain. The atmosphere in Massage By Design is very relaxing and tranquil, conducive to the massage experience. Kerry Is extremely likable, and put me at ease immediately. I have already scheduled another appointment for next week. read more

Ronda is a fantastic massage therapist and takes a holistic approach to her work. One of the best massages I've had. Highly recommend.

The short version: Kerry Lewis is the most skilled, thoughtful and talented massage therapist on the planet. The long version: I went to see Kerry because I had pain all along my right side. This had started about a year before as severe knee pain and, over time, the pain spread to the point where I couldn't do the dancing I loved...heck, I could barely walk. I was truly afraid I was going to have to have knee surgery - something I feared and couldn't afford. After one session with Kerry my knee pain was gone. Really, truly gone. And it has not come back..at all. I'm dancing and hiking and doing all the things I love because of Kerry. Now I see her every month, and I always leave feeling relaxed, healthy, and beautiful. Thank you, Kerry! read more

Kerry is the most phenomenal masseuse a girl could ask for! I am the pickiest of picky when it comes to my massages, and now that I've found Kerry, I won't go anywhere else. Not to mention, I won't let my friends go anywhere else and have been recommending her left and right. Some quick thoughts: 1) she really shines in a deep tissue massage. I have an extremely demanding job that takes a tremendous toll on my body. Not everyone is strong enough to apply the pressure I need them to - Kerry is. 2) the space is lovely, and quiet. It's a little tricky to find the first time around but it's okay. The space is beautiful and well decorated, and I had plenty of time after my massage to get up at my own pace, dress, and have some water. I didn't feel like I was tiptoeing around anyone else. 3) Kerry is really versatile. She combines a lot of techniques to make sure I'm getting what i need. She's SO intuitive as a human being and as a massage therapist. I never have to really tell her what I need, but she will always ask thoughtful questions anyway to help guide my experience. I'll edit if I've left anything out, but really I am just so satisfied with my experience. Whoop! read more

Kerry Lewis, owner (and master massage therapist) of Massage by Design, just gave me the best hot stone massage I've ever received. I think I slipped into a relaxation coma and feel like a million bucks after her incredible treatment. Her space is serene, relaxing, comfortable and at the same time, rejuvenating. Can't wait to go back and I'll definitely recommend to everyone, since we ALL need an hour or 90 mins of this type of pampering and soul therapy. Thank you, Kerry! read more

Kerry Lewis is such an gifted massage therapist. I have been a client for a few years, but because of my last session, I had to let folks know how amazing she is. I typically get a full body massage, but this time, I wanted her to spend most of the time on my lower body. I had recently increased my cycling miles and needed my hips, legs and feet loosened up. The difference I felt walking in and walking out was remarkable. In addition, I set out on my next bike ride the following day and added another 8 miles to my ride without much more effort. I attributed that to the massage. I can not recommend her enough. She listens to you what you need and delivers, every time! Do yourself a favor and book a tour with her TODAY! read more

I have been getting massages from Kerry for years. She has been the best massage therapist I have seen. She does such a great job of varying pressure and being attentive to her clients needs. She genuinely cares for her clients too. I have seen several massage therapist over the years. Each one either not enough pressure, too talkative, or just not present. Kerry is the best. Go see her you will not regret it. read more

Just had the best massage of my life by Lenessa! I walked in with muscle spasms and unable to even breathe properly and left feeling like a new person. I've had much more expensive massages that were not nearly as good or effective as the one that Lenessa gave me. Thank you so much! read more

I had an amazing massage with Elyse! Best massage I've ever had. She was so nice and incredibly skilled! Highly recommend!

What an incredible massage! On my flight to NY and thinking about my massage yesterday. I don't go for massage very often because it is difficult for me. During the massage Rennetta worked on my back just as I asked her to. She listened to what I wanted and made my experience good enough to want to return. Now I feel open to getting regular massage again! The best part of the experience was the totally unique and brilliant swaddling technique. During the session there was elaborate use of warm, aroma therapy towels to wrap and swaddle different areas of the body - the neck, the feet. It was tremendously relaxing and comforting. I am sure my mother swaddled me just that way as she taught me how to do it with my own children. "Fold it this way, pull it snug, contain them...It comforts them" she would say. Many people, I suspect, have a massage without a deep understanding of the potential within the session. Touch done with awareness and intention holds the greatest potential for healing. Your intention comes through in that session. And that's quite amazing! I wanted you to know that. Thank you Rennetta and Kerry read more

Kerry is the best when it comes to an amazing massage! She saw me right after a minor car accident as I had neck and shoulder pain after the accident. I cold called a bunch of therapists that were not willing at all to see me after the accident. However, Kerry asked me a bunch of professional questions that deemed me okay to be seen and got me in. She totally helped me recover and I have been seeing her for almost two years since. She is my go-to gal for rest, repair and relaxation. Absolutely the best!!! Thank you Kerry! See you soon read more

Update: I woke up with a back ache last Sunday. I contacted Kerry about scheduling an appointment and she was able to get me in with her therapist Renetta that day. I have to say, Renetta is amazing. I could really tell she understood musculature. She gave me the exact amount of pressure I needed in a comfortable manner. She has a sweet demeanor and really listens. I'll definitely be back for more sessions. read more

Kerry was a-mazing! The room is relaxing and inviting, the music is smooth, her use of heating pads, hot towels, pressure points, and other massage tools is on point. She took the time to understand what my body was going through and what it needed. I will definitely be back to her! You won't be disappointed! read more

Out of the blue I ended up with the most excruciating pain in my right leg. I didn't know what really caused it but my best guess was either air conditioner was blowing on it while I was sleeping or it was due to fatigue because it was my driving gas pedal leg. Anyway the pain was absolutely horrible and no matter what I would do it just didn't seem to go away. I went to massage by Design and had their technician reneta work on it. Because she knew what the situation was she really worked on it. She knew exactly where that was and worked on it for quite a long time to the point where she finally got it to relax. I love getting massages just to relax but in this case I needed it to get my leg healed and she did a great job. the pain went away. Thank you so much for healing my leg. I needed to go twice but it really helped I highly recommend this place. read more

I have been searching for a good massage therapist for the past 2 years and finally found the one with Kerri! I found her through Nextdoor after several neighbors raved about how amazing she was. They were right! I've been seeing Kerri on a weekly basis for chronic neck tension and TMJ pain. She gives the BEST deep tissue massages and is able to get out stubborn knots. Kerri also gives great facial massages to help with my TMJ pain. I would highly recommend Kerri for the following reasons: - Great customer service - She spends extra time to go over any questions or concerns. - Highly skilled and experienced - Cozy and relaxing environment - Uses heated pillows and towels that make your tight muscles melt - Easy scheduling online - Genuinely cares about her clients Kerri's office is next to Serpas restaurant in the Studioplex building. I frequented my favorite massage place and to my happy surprise they were open on Sunday!!! Yeah!!! I had the most amazing relaxing deep tissue massage by Rennetta. I know typically relaxing and deep tissue might not go hand in hand but it was just the best!! She used organic essential oils and she choose a specific oil that was helpful to my issue as well!! I loved the customized service!! And she even gave me some great tips for home care for my back and neck!! I can't wait to book with her again!! read more

I made my first appointment and she texted to let me know she was running 15 minutes late. Seemed like no problems so I waited. And unfortunately another 15 minutes later she's still texting me to say she was in traffic and nine minutes away. Finally she called me to reassure me she would not charge me for the visit and I could cancel which is different than their online cancellation policy states. I was not happy as she offered to reschedule but I did not have time to accommodate her read more

Yesterday I received a massage from the most talented massage therapist I know. Kerry has been my therapist for a couple years now, but yesterday she worked on an issue I had been having with my right leg and knee for a few weeks. To wake up this morning and not have the pain in my knee or the pain radiating down the inside of my leg to my lower leg, is nothing short of a miracle. I have referred many people to her who have endured months of physical therapy (with limited progress) only to find out that a couple of sessions with her will be the solution for health and healing. If you or someone you know suffer from a chronic physical condition, I highly recommend the healing power of my massage therapist, Kerry Lewis. read more

Saw Kerry Lewis, LMT again today for a Massage by Design ! She was very effective in relieving ankle & shin area tension. She was sensitive to the relaxation factor... seems to know exactly how much conversation is appropriate & also when silence is just golden ! She is very strong and can get in deeply on those muscular tensions, yet at the same time, careful not to hurt at all. She's definitely one of the best around. I've never been disappointed ! I don't know exactly what she did that made it so different and so effective, but she is my new massage therapist effective immediately. read more

Kerry is amazing! I've been seeing here every 4-6 weeks for almost a year now. I've never had a massage therapist who can apply a decent amount of pressure without having moments of discomfort. She's got a perfect technique (at least for me). She also seems to intuitively know what areas need extra attention each time I see here. It's a little spooky. read more

I am so grateful to have found Kerry!! My mother had been a healer/massage therapist for over 25+ years, so my bar is very high. I was so completely blown away after my first massage with Kerry. The room is cozy and beautiful, the table is soft yet supportive and heated. She uses weighted warm heat packs placed on top of you while working on the areas in need of attention. It makes you feel safe and held, like you can melt right down into the earth. She is an intuitive, she is a gifted healer and now after many session together, I've found a very special human being. This is not only a treat but maintenance for your physical and mental wellbeing. I would highly recommend Kerry to my friends and family and anyone looking for a unique healing. read more

I have been going to Kerry for nearly five years now. She is absolutely incredible. She truly listens to you every single time, and very specifically adjusts treatment accordingly. She's remarkably intuitive and carefully uses this ability in her sessions. As the name of her company implies, her massages are never one-size-fits-all. It's crystal clear that she deeply cares about, and is dedicated to, meeting your particular needs and helping you heal. She has reliably eased my back and neck pain from day one. .... More recently - and this is nothing short of miraculous - she treated me for carpal tunnel relief ahead of a consultation with a hand surgeon. The medical team and I were pretty sure that surgery would be needed. However, the benefits from just one session with Kerry, focused on my hand and wrist, were so profound that the surgeon told me that not only did I not need surgery, but that I no longer qualified for a carpal tunnel diagnosis at all, AND that their new recommended course of treatment was to continue getting bodywork from Kerry as needed (which I'm absolutely doing, still with success). Mind blown. Cannot recommend enough. Thank you, Kerry! read more

Kerry Lewis is the best message therapist I have visited in my 15 years in Atlanta! Having found her online this year, I have made a conscious effort to treat my body once a month to her 75 min. targeted deep tissue message. Kerry takes the time to genuinely listen to your concerns before she starts any session. Your session does not feel rushed. She is not afraid of applying pressure to those stubborn muscles even if she has to coax them to loosen with many of her heated tools of the trade. After a major surgery several months ago Kerry thoughtfully developed a massage specifically for me. I can hear her friendly reminder now "drink more water!" Do your body an absolute must and book your appointment today. read more
