I'm a Massage Envy member, and what makes this especially disappointing is that my previous visit…read moreto this location was fantastic. Unfortunately, after this experience, it now feels very hit or miss depending on who you get. I came in expecting to use one of my monthly membership services and was told this visit would cost 65 dollars. That was fine. Not the issue. Before the massage began, my therapist, Jessica, was made fully aware of my physical limitations and existing injuries. I showed her an X-ray of my spine, explained my lower back and lumbar issues, told her my left knee is severely damaged and has no ACL or Cartlidge at all and is completely bone on bone. and informed her that I've had a hip replacement. I was very clear about where I was hurting and what needed attention. She did some good work initially, but spent way more time on my upper back than on the lower back area that I specifically asked her to address. Yes the upper bodywork she did felt good, but it wasn't the area that I needed focused on. Then, after I turned onto my back, she worked on my left leg and twisted my already damaged knee hard enough that I nearly jumped off the table. I immediately reminded her that I have no ACL or Cartlidge in my left knee!! After that, my entire left side tightened up and my lower back began hurting significantly more. When the massage ended, I told her my lower back was now extremely tight and painful after what happened with my knee, and her response was, "Well, you should have booked a longer session." That response was i'm caring and dismissive. The situation got worse after I left the room. My knee buckled in the bathroom and I nearly fell. I had walked in without limping, and was now limping after the massage. When management asked how everything went, I explained what happened. That my knee had been hurt, that I was now limping when I wasn't before, that my left side had tightened up, and what the therapist said when I raised concerns. The manager's response was basically that they would put a note on my account so I wouldn't be assigned that therapist again. There was no meaningful apology, no offer to adjust or refund the charge. I was still charged in full. and that's not what I was looking for I didn't ask for a refund or demand one,I hadn't even planned on saying anything to the front. It was only when I walked out and they asked me how was my massage my response was "do you really wanna know?" Despite everything, I even went looking for cash because I still intended to leave a tip not the normal tip I had planned, but at least something. I was literally limping around the parking lot trying to do that. I understand massages can sometimes leave you sore, but that's not what I'm describing. I disclosed serious injuries up front. My knee was twisted, I had immediate pain, it later buckled, and management's response was to make a note on my account. And the massage therapists response was well book a longer session. Next time I came in looking for relief. I left limping and feeling worse than when I arrived. One star.
