Yelp won't let me leave no stars! Made the mistake of buying 2 groupons to this place. Went in for the 90 minute massage and got a terrible 75 minute train wreck. The "therapist" was not good at all and fumbled and stumbled around the room and table. She had her phone in her apron pocket and it kept going off. She actually stopped the massage to reply a few times. Next, they were in the middle of a move or something and while I was in there getting the massage two ladies were out hammering and drilling on the walls to the room I was in. Also, the walls and doors were so thin you could hear every conversation in the lobby and they were making no effort to keep the noise down. It was disgusting to even go there, I have requested a refund for the second one. It wasn't a good massage, my child gives better back rubs and there was nothing resembling serenity. read more

Do not go here!! I would leave 0 stars if possible. Terrible customer service, nasty location (old basement, smells, dirty, and noisy family upstairs the entire time) Do no waste your money, even if you do end up purchasing a massage good luck booking it, they will ignore you, reschedule multiple times, and string you along. The actual massage SUCKS! The so called therapists have no clue what they are doing, your massage will start and stop so they can play on their phone, talk to each other, ect. When they actually "rub" it is beyond words how bad it is, I have been to several massage schools and they are 1000x better and cheaper. We had a membership with Massage & Serenity. On the occasions we were able to get an appointment, the massages were good, however the lack of ability to keep appointments became increasingly frustrating. We were canceled on more than 50% of the time (I kept a log of cancellations to verify the rate). Their last move was unannounced and we quickly canceled our membership. We were told we would be refunded the amount of the previous month, however it actually took me disputing the prior 2 months with my credit card company and waiting nearly 60 days for their lack of response to my dispute for me to get my money refunded. While I think the service itself is good, it's difficult to rate this company well given the amount of cancellations and difficulty we had getting in to actually receive the services we'd paid for in advance. Okay, last night my husband and I used the Groupon for the couples Massage. I get a massage about once or twice a month solo, but my husband had never had one before. This was honestly the BEST massage I've ever gotten! My husband had Whitney, and I had Anne. First off, we walked in to a calm and quiet environment and Whitney got a background on both of our experiences with massage, and helped put my nervous husband's mind at ease. They gave us lots of time to get comfortable, and then gave us every minute of our hour. Anne was SO awesome, and went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. Anne gave me a warm neck pillow, and eye coverings to help me relax. She seemed to read my mind and find all the knots in my back without me even needing to tell her- at the perfect pressure. They also did hot stones as a free upgrade because they asked to reschedule- a very professional approach to a difficult situation. I bet it is hard to find a balance between being professional, and having a complete stranger touching your bare skin, but Anne & Whitney found the perfect balance. I love the approach they take- that massage can heal, and it's not only just to feel good. They actually have a GREAT wellness plan deal... we are debating if we should do it or not because Layton is far from our home in Salt Lake, but it really might be worth it... they really know their stuff. If you're wondering if you should go or not- GO GO GO! I'm serious, you won't be disappointed. read more

One of the best massages I've ever had and my mom was a massage therapist- so I'm a bit biased. I've come to Massage and Serenity three times now and I've decided I prefer Heathers technique the best. The facility isn't the poshest around but I prefer to pay for a quality massage vs. A quality building. The woman are personable and accommodating. They often offer great deals that support children's charities to stop bullying. They stick straight to the amount of time you've purchased and are able to offer various techniques and even couples or friends massages. I love coming here to unwind and feel better. Please give them a chance to offer you an affordable and amazing massage, I don't think you'll regret especially given the value. Hope this helps yelpers!! read more

Unprofessional, unreliable and unqualified. If you want someone to massage you with their feet or cancel on your already re-scheduled appointment 4 times -- go here! They'll schedule and re-schedule your appointment enough times to lose your service but they already have your money from groupon so they don't care! I'll be notifying groupon of this. Pay extra for a clean facility with experienced, reliable professionals to ensure a relaxing massage --they're definitely NOT the people to give it to you. read more

The story I'm about to tell you is pretty unbelievable. Had I not experienced it myself, I certainly wouldn't have believed it. However, I promise you that it's true, and I hope you take this as a warning, if you're considering visiting this business. I tried calling this business for two days before actually going in to schedule an appointment. Over the three days of me calling, at various times of the day, not a single person answered. I probably should have taken this as a bad sign, but being optimistic, I actually physically went into the business to schedule an appointment for a tarot card reading. When I walked into the office, the staff were actually laying on the floor, giving each other massages in the entryway of the business. Weird, I know. However, I brushed this off as a little strange, and just thought that they maybe had a bad day, and just needed a little massage to clear their minds for the rest of the work day. I scheduled my appointment for a week out, as I of course have a work schedule that I have to coordinate around. I received a call thirty minutes prior to my appointment, saying that my appointment had been cancelled because the reader "needed to run an errand." No joke. She had to go "run an errand" and wasn't available to do my reading anymore. Again, note that I had received this call thirty minutes prior to the start time of my appointment. I understand things come up, and sometimes, things are out of your control. However, the fact that my appointment was cancelled due to an "errand" needing to be taken care of, paired with the other strange business practices I experienced, I don't think I'll be rescheduling my appointment. read more

I had an appointment scheduled with a groupon for $25 for a 60 minute Swedish massage. First of all, I had a very difficult time finding this place. Although the business was listed on the sign in the parking lot, I didn't see any signs of the business anywhere. Turns out the office was located in the back of a building. Walking in the door, I was surprised to see this very small waiting area that didn't look like a spa at all. There was not one thing that said spa about this place. The carpet was filthy, cluttered with leaves and debris. I get that leaves can fly in when a door opens, but this carpet honestly looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. There were two old chairs and a water cooler in the area and nothing else. At that point I was ready to walk out, but told myself to give it a chance. So I checked in, the receptionist was super nice and gave me the paperwork to fill out. I was still feeling uneasy about the cleanliness of the place and while filling out my papers, I noticed the floor in the reception area was just as dirty, not to mention the old worn out desk she was sitting at that you had to look over to see her. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and that was even worse. There were dirty towels piled up to the height of the sink from the floor, the garbage can was over flowing and there were hot rocks laying out on towels next to the toilet and on a shelf in the bathroom. This whole place just looked like a dive! I asked the receptionist if they just moved and she said they were in the process, that is why the place was in shambles. Well I get that things can get crazy while moving, but I really didn't see any signs of moving; boxes and what not, just a messy dirty place that looked NOTHING like a spa. This place just looked like a dive, from inside and out. Although the receptionist kept explaining that they were in the process of moving, there is still no excuse for uncleanliness. Why would I want rocks placed on my body that had been laying around in a filthy bathroom?? This was definitely not the place the reviewer in November described. Like I said, I understand if you just moved, but cleanliness should take first priority. And if you didn't have time to pull it together, then you probably shouldn't have scheduled appointments until you could. Please check the place out before scheduling an appointment. read more

This business was a bit run down when my wife went, however they have now changed from a respectable multi-employee business, to a single person in a run down house that I would not want to get a massage from. I bought their groupon and am hesitant to use it. I am asking for a refund. She never answers her phone and her voicemail box is always full. Her business is now called The Beautiful Truth. Unless you're comfortable going to a run down house to get naked under a sheet and get a massage, I don't recommend going here. read more

I made the huge mistake of prepaying for a bunch of on sale massages with Massage & Serenity (now called Beautiful Truth.) I feel like they took my money and ran, they will not give refunds because "the service is available" - they have been impossible to get a hold of to schedule an appointment, she says text to schedule an appointment, well they never answer those texts and their voice mail box has been full for months. After the miracle of nailing down a time with them they ALWAYS say they have to reschedule and then ignore me when I try to actually reschedule... I wasn't impressed with them the first time I went for a massage - the place is dirty, loud, unprofessional.. she actually stopped massaging me multiple times to text on her phone! I thought hey you get what you pay for, I paid for a $14 massage.. If you want a cheap, unhygienic, unprofessional, stressful massage after putting in hours of trying to get and keep that appointment.. I highly recommend this place. read more
