Inpatient has a commitment requirement that the patient will participate in physical rehabilitation for three hours every day. I found this immensely beneficial, since some places just leave you doing little or nothing every day. The rooms look like The Four Seasons Hotel! I was in a room of my own...all hardwood, large windows with water views, a nurse with no more than seven patients. Lots of rehabilitation work, but everyone is very attentive. My nurse was phenomenal. There are no meal menus. An attendant comes to your room with a wheeling computer cart, and reads you menu suggestions, but you are always free to voice your own choices and wishes. Food was delicious. There's so much detail to every single thing here! If you HAVE to be somewhere, it's a terrible catastrophe, but being at Spaulding, Charlestown is the best!

At five pm they would just have a sandwich and soup because most of the residents would be stuffed from lunch. I liked seeing the residents on my shifts. He developed an infection and there were no medical providers available. Despite this fatigue and shortness of breath from the infection, he was brought to PT. As his performance was not great given the infection, the PT pushed him and appeared annoyed that my father couldn't do what they wanted. The nurses are incompetent and the aids spend most of tgere time on there phones. Call lights are rarely responded to. Speaking with the higher level administrators was eye opening. No one is competent there. I am a medical professional and know what adequate care is. This facility was reported to the authorities.

South Cove Manor is an exception. I would confidently choose this facility if such care were ever necessary. The majority of residents are Asian, though the facility is welcoming to all. Kendra looks at your entire body and does a thorough assessment at every visit. She knows what each of her patients need, and knows that everyone is different and different things work for different people. If I could rate this a zero stars, I would. My aunt was there for 3 months for "rehab" and she lost…read moretons of weight. They would let her sit there for hours without checking up on her or sitting her up, which she NEEDED to be able to start walking again. She developed bed sores from staying in bed all day without moving. They even threatened her saying they would put her on the permanent floor if she didn't move, but they never ever helped her up. She was put in there for rehab but was never rehabilitated. Every time we went up there, we found pills on the floor when they claimed that they gave her the pills, send her in food but didn't really care if she ate it and let her sit in feces for HOURS. At the end, they transferred her to the psych ward, which was even worse. At least they had the decency to call us about her passing. Do not send your loved ones here please!
