He then made a few calls putting off the mornings appointments so he could tend to my problem. That included getting an AC friend to come ASAP as well to move furnace and cooling parts to get my old unit out. I had to work nights so I went to bed and awoke with a brand new unit which is amazing with tons of hot water and no more cold showers. I had a clog and a small pipe leak in the spare bath sink (that I've since learned was a pressure leak caused by the clog). I called Roto-Rooter because everyone said they were great and another friend said she used them for all her plumbing needs. When John got here at 3:41 PM, I showed him everything and he told me they don't do leaks. That should have been my first red flag. I said the website said they did and a friend used them regularly for her rentals. He said many offices do, but his doesn't. Red flag. So he started working on the clog. Had me flushing toilets, running water, etc. The clog was tougher than expected so another guy came out and they finally finished at 5:21 PM. Here's where it all went wrong but I didn't know that until I walked into my bathroom at 7:30 PM, barefoot, and stepped on my beautiful carpet soaked with nasty sewer water. I spent all weekend trying to get the mess cleaned up. I ran my shop-vac three times, stomped on towels, spread baking soda, scrubbed the carpet, ran the shop-vac again. Still gross and reeking of sewer. I called their office manager, Kayla, and our 12 minute conversation was tantamount to, well, let me just say I've had more meaningful conversations with slugs. Kayla said my bathroom flooded because of a bad wax ring and it was my fault and my responsibility. I told her it happened in both bathrooms, so she said it was a bad wax ring in both bathrooms. I informed her the half bath was a brand new wax ring since it was recently remodeled and she responded with saying they did their job clearing the clog and anything beyond that is my fault and responsibility, despite the fact they ruined my bathroom carpet and floor. I told her the water wasn't there until the second person showed up. So something he did had to have caused the overflow. They said the second person was in there less than a minute. I told her I have security cam footage showing differently. Then they said he was in there less than 10 minutes and he said he didn't touch anything in my bathroom. That's another lie. He removed my tank lid for whatever reason (to pull up the ball so nasty water would stop overflowing?) and put everything on the floor. That's where I found my stuff at 7:30 when I discovered my sopping wet carpet. I was told I could call a local carpet company and have them clean my carpets at MY expense, that they aren't responsible. When I asked if they're responsible for damage at a client's location, Kayla reiterated the fact I had a clog, now I don't, and they did their job. She told me repeatedly she had called corporate and they would back her up. I told her I'd never use them again and I would let everyone I know how poor their customer service was. Kayla called me back 30 minutes later and said she spoke to the owner, Denzel, and he said they weren't responsible. Funny, she told me earlier she'd already spoken to the owner AND corporate, so why call me back to say it again?! Why call me back at all if everything she told me the first time was true and they had no intention of accepting responsibility for what they did to my bathroom floor? Bunch of liars and incompetent people!!! I told her to not call me again. I already filled out a BBB report against them and will never use Roto-Rooter Bartlesville again.

Gary came out and gave it a look, and we determined the smart thing to do would be to just replace the valve which meant buying a new fixture as well. It took The Wife a little while to land on one, but once we had it, Gary came back out and did the replacement. Worth mentioning that Gary did not initially charge me for the first visit... but we squared up on the install. Gary is the real deal... an old school craftsman who knows all the tricks to getting the job done right without cutting corners, not to mention having a wicked sense of humor.
