The people I spoke to actually scoffed when I brought up live streaming, like I was asking a lot. During these irregular times of Covid, I didn't think I was asking something that was laughable. Especially when you are dealing with heighten emotions since you are in the business of death, you would think that compassion would be at the forefront of their customer service. I would not recommend and deeply regret not having enough time to use a different mortuary to handle my grandmother's passing.

This is one of my favorite cemeteries due to the remote location and peace and quiet. And being in wine country never hurts. I have never seen a soul out there, and yet it clearly is visited by family members who put flags and other "offerings" on graves. This "Scooby Doo" looking road is actually really pleasant to meander down past some cows and an old rockery pit. I usually park outside the cemetery since there is a ton of room. You go in one more gate to get to the cemetery itself. This cemetery has Oregon Pioneers buried in it. Oh, and a seasonal grave with a Christmas tree on it that has solar lights on it. Next to it is another grave with Mtn Dew and a jar of Mayonnaise on it. You never know what you will find in this cemetery. Off NW McBride Cemetery Road. Open the PLAIN gate with no sign, drive in, and please close the gate after yourself.

It's pretty easy to find, but the gate is closed, leaving the only place to park right in front of the gate. There's really only one spot--try not to get hit by cars when exiting your vehicle. You have to walk up a short, overgrown road to get to the graveyard, but this just adds to the adventure. The graveyard is at the top of the hill, and offers some really great views. The place itself is creepy, with many of the graves overgrown and clearly forgotten. But hey, most of the people here died a hundred years ago. If you want a truly abandoned graveyard experience, you'll get it here. I personally experienced nothing supernatural (but I don't believe in that hocus pocus anyway) but others have made many claims of seeing the ghost of the woman hung here, even being chased out and physically injured by her. WARNING: After I visited I looked this place up online. Although there were no posted "no trespassing" signs, many sites say that this rule applies the place is frequently patrolled by police.

Dad and I quickly found out how ill-prepared we were to go through this. Kristine at the funeral home could not have been more welcoming, sympathetic, or helpful. As well as not pushy. She never tried to force us into decisions, but politely offered suggestions and knowledgeably answered out questions no matter how silly they were. We met Paul at the time of Mom's service. He made sure the flowers from the service made it to my parent's house and even took time to assist my young nephew as he wanted to help the pallbearers. Paul took my nephew to the front of the casket and had him help steer, since he obviously couldn't bear his share of the weight. He could have easily shoo'ed him away but instead made my nephew feel important and helpful. After the services and we were at home, we found that Unger's had given us a box of thank you notes and the sweetest Memorial bookmark to remember Mom by. I was blown away with such attention to detail. I would recommend Unger's to anyone that has suffered a loss and needs to plan for their loved one's final services.
