This is probably my favorite store in East Lansing…read more I usually don't go to the surplus store looking for anything in particular. Chances are, I wouldn't find it. This place is MSU's garage sale. I've purchased some great used Steelcase desks here. They always seem to have a pretty full supply of discarded MSU furniture. Otherwise, they sell pretty much everything: Bikes, used computers, random medical electronics, kitchen equipment, cars, old televisions, a preserved horse leg, etc. They are usually open on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Keep your schedule open.

I found 2 great keyboards on Craiglist for 2 really great prices, and soon discovered they were…read morebeing sold by MSU Surplus. It was a long drive and I was worried that the keyboard would be sold by the time I got there (unfortunately, you can't 'hold' items, nor buy over the phone, luckily they only sell Tu and Fr so you can really plan your purchases if you wanted). When I got to the store I was a bit awestruck, it is really as eclectic as they say. One of the keyboards had sold, though they remembered me from my phonecalls and *really* hooked me up on the other keyboard... and THEN they also hooked me up with *another* really awesome keyboard and 2 pairs of headphones. Besides this, I was actually touched by the considerate service and their ability and desire to care about the items in the store. Laptop batteries were removed from laptops to improve their longevity and then organized into ziplock bags along with flash drives loaded with the original OS; they bought foot-pedals for keyboards and included them with the keyboard; I also bought a laptop and they included a laptop bag of my choosing; and the experience with the staff was superb. I haven't experienced service like that in a resale store ever, not to mention possibly any store. I will be back!

When I called to schedule an appointment to have my car picked up (which is free of charge) they got me in the next day. Someone called the morning of to confirm the pickup and then the tow truck driiver also called to let me know he was about 10 minutes away. The process was quick and easy (and sad of course) and I definitely recommend!

The four guys were SO professional, helpful and friendly. They made great suggestions when asked and even helped with set up and details at our destination. You never want to hear the moving crew say "we should have brought a bigger truck." I hired movers…read morebecause my husband and and I are senior citizens and we could afford the cost of the movers. The quote was around $2500-$2800, but we were only charged about half of that because they ran out of truck before we ran out of stuff. One of the movers told me they didn't like moving televisions, couldn't I just take that 80" TV in my car because they didn't have the proper equipment with them to move them. They made one load and we spent the next 4 days lifting and moving stuff in our vehicles--something we tried to avoid by hiring movers. This service was not worth the high cost of having to move things ourselves. We had used the service twice before, but never again.
