Between September and December, I received multiple emails indicating the order was packing, shipping, and expected to arrive before Christmas. However, no tracking information or confirmed shipment was ever provided. On December 24, I contacted support for clarification and was told the order was "waiting confirmation," listed with a different order date than my original purchase, and currently on hold with no estimated delivery date. I replied multiple times to clarify the discrepancy and the earlier shipping messages, but as of now I have not received a response, and the order has not been delivered. I'm sharing this to document my experience to date and hope it can be resolved. read more

Received a damaged gift bottle of whiskey. Shipping took months. Then when I finally got the package, it was trashed. The gift box and all contents were damaged. The owners have gas lit me for another month, refusing to replace the horrendously packed gift. It was 100% the packing, not the shipping. Horrible customer service! Poor product. Good selection... if you can actually get it. Look for something on Wine-Searcher and you'll find a product listed at a store called "Mash & Grape" at 24 Avenue C. But you go to that store and you're told (in a tired voice that suggests they've had to tell multiple customers the same thing before) that "Mash & Grape" is actually their online division and that the item you were looking for that *they said online* was available at 24 Avenue C, is not in fact available at 24 Avenue C, but you can order it online, only it'll cost $15 more because of shipping. Guys... clear it up with wine-searcher that 24 Avenue C is NOT the address for Mash & Grape, that said business is online only. Or change the WS listing to Mashbill and upload the list of the actual products you have in stock. One or the other. This BS listing that's half one business / half another / entirely incorrect doesn't cut it and just pushes away potential customers. And here's a thought - since you're the same business - have a local pickup option for customers in NYC, so they can order from M&G then pick up at Mashbill without having to deal with shipping. read more

Fantastic addition to the neighborhood with a great selection ranging from reasonably-priced basics to unique selections and rare bottlings (which, come to think of it, were also pretty reasonably priced). I've lived across this place for almost a year now and I finally stopped by. It doesn't have the biggest collection of wine, but in my case, that makes choosing all the easier! The store is well kept and the people who work there are incredibly friendly and helpful. They also have a collection of spirits which is a huge plus! They also do free wine tastings on Friday, which is incredibly cool. They have a good selection of different priced wines so there is something for everybody--wines under $13 is a huge plus. So...not a great experience. I had a feeling that I'd be disappointed in this establishment I walked in. I called to see where they were located (I wanted to know the cross street) a man who sounded a little annoyed answered and told me that they were located are 24 Ave C. I said "great, can you tell me the cross street?" with a sigh he told me they were between 2nd and 3rd St. I roll in to look for a bottle of vino bianco (sweet). This dude (only employee visible) is just sitting behind the counter on his phone. Doesn't acknowledge me at all. Two minutes into wondering around I ask him if he could help. He stays seated and asks what I'm looking for. I said sweet white, maybe even a prescco. He never leaves his stool, bit tries to direct me by pointing. Really guy? Then I ask for the price of a Jam Jar in white because I only see the price for the red. He tells me if I don't see it posted they are the same price. Wrong, white happens to be cheaper. The part that annoyed me most is a man walks in, and while he doesn't acknowledge him upon entry, as soon as he asks the guy for help picking something out the former paralyzed employee gets up to ask him what it is he is looking for. Epic fail at customer service, and from my perception discriminatory. To add insult to injury he won't honor my check-in coupon. Says they no longer accept them and he doesn't know why it hasn't been taken down. read more

This place is great. They have a nice wine selection as well as some liquors; their staff is knowledgeable and friendly; and their check-in deal is almost outrageous. For context, I came in randomly because they had a free wine tasting late on a Friday night. The wines they served were diverse and if I lived in the area, I actually would have purchased the great Pinot Noir they poured. I would be very careful when ordering from Mash and Grape. I placed an order for Smooth Ambler Old Scout Single Barrel Rye 8 Yr on January 7th at 7:19 pm EST. It was listed as the last bottle and then showed out of stock after I completed my order. Their shipping policy claims bottles ship out the next day if your order is placed after 5 pm EST; however, the bottle did not ship the next day. I sent them an e-mail on January 9th asking when I should expect shipment. I received an automated confirmation of receipt, but did not hear back until after I called on January 12th. They picked up the phone on the second attempted call, the first going to what sounded like a fax machine. They seemed unsure of my order information and I was told to expect a call back when they figured out what was wrong. I was read back what seemed to be a random phone number and had to give them my actual phone number, which I believe I supplied with the original order. Instead of a call, I received an e-mail claiming the bottle I ordered was damaged and they could not procure more from the distributor. This was also given as the reason why they waited until January 12th to reply to my original e-mail. I was told I would receive a refund, which was eventually placed the next day after e-mailing them again.
