I love this place! A true Iraqi experience! Fresh, carp, various meats and poultry charcoaled to perfection! The service is also fantastic!!!

Complimentary Iraqi tea while I wait for my take away order.

The best in the West. This continues to be an awesome spot in Belgravia. Service is good and food is awesome. Not unusual to see folks eating with their hands in a most classy way. I believe this is true respect for the chef. Ordered the mixed grill with rice. Next time I will go with the salad as this is the most fresh in London. Definitely coming back.

We had bamya and iraqi kabab

In general its good but not the best. I did not like the humus at all as it was more thick than it should be. The tea was good and prepared on coal but i prefer it hot and not warm.

The Masgouf itself is awesome, yet I would recommend for them to abandon using sea bass. Iraqi Kabab is nice, but the portion is tight.

Being fans of Middle Eastern food from out time in Michigan, we decided to try this Iraqi restaurant on our last night in London.

They get you started with tasty lentil soup and bread. We ordered kabobs, Dolma (stuffed grape leaves and other vegetables) I'm normally not a fan of this dish but, this one, was delicious. It came with a Shank of lamb which was literally falling off the bone. The kabobs were juicy and filing. Drawbacks is the place is tiny and when your with a large crowd it can be a little hard. After seeing such beautiful fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and fish on my nice walk down the Church Street open air market just off Edgeware Road, I turned north on Edgeware Road and stopped in Azmar Restaurant. There's a counter in the window that serves take-away and stairs leading up to a mezzanine seating area with lovely table service. The decor is simple but tasteful and I felt it might be a place where local businessmen might have a nice lunch or where you might take your family or a group of friends for dinner. And it, indeed was filled with locals--always a good sign. It's a step up, literally, from the street cafes. The menu is extensive. I ordered a lamb shwarma plate with salad and was unexpectedly pleased at the large portion of meat served. Thinking I'd eat half and take the rest, I found myself gobbling up the whole thing because it tasted so good. They brought some bright red pickled cabbage and peppers and a small bowl of very tasty bean soup before the meal was served and an enormous, round, hot bread with the meal. I ordered tea which came in the traditional small glass with a thoughtfully added sweet philo pastry on the side. I was stuffed! Total bill at lunch: £8. They wouldn't serve tap water, but that is the only fault I found with this otherwise delightful restaurant. The service was attentive, polite and swift. Recommended and would return.

Thanks for Andrew M for inducting me into his alphabet dining club. We reached the letter 'I' this…read moreweek and Andrew's friend Sharon sorted dinner out at Le Chef Masgouf, announcing it as Iranian food. However, on arrival, we discovered that it was in fact an Iraqi restaurant, which fortunately still met the brief of starting with the letter I! I think the watchword of the restaurant is generosity of spirit as we were plied initially with 3 free big plates of vegetables and pickles and again with free baklava at the end of our meal We had a selection of cold and warm meze to kick off the meal. I get a little confused when dining at restaurants from countries in the eastern Mediterranean as they all seem to serve the same meze and I'm not sure which country would lay claim to the usual taboulleh, humus and tzatziki style dishes. The star of the starters though was the warm bread which had been freshly griddled and was perfect to sweep up those dips We had 3 main courses, the best of which was an Iraqi classic Kouzi - slow cooked lamb shank served with rice cooked with saffron, raisins and pine nuts. Barbecued seabass was also good but the special of the day chicken briayani was a bit dry Typical inoffensive Middle Eastern fare. Roll on, J dining!

Started with hummus, cheese and meat Borek as well as fried kuba and patata chap. It all reminded me of the wonderful dinners my mother used to cook for us. We had kabab and the Khozi for mains and they were very tasty. Service was outstanding and I look forward to a return visit next time in London.
