When they finish washing, I'll take them somewhere else to dry. I stood here watching my clothes as they spun around after putting my products in the correct designated label areas for 10 minutes. I asked the lady for assistance because only the bleach area had filled up with water and I was confused why the soap had not gone through. Before I could open my mouth, she proceeded to read the designated labels to me as if I couldn't read. I responded to her saying that I could read, but that I was asking a question specifically about the wash process. She proceeded to walk away from me as I was talking to her while shaking her head. She then filled up a jug of water and poured it into the label areas while saying something about it's common sense. I am not a laundry connoisseur, nor do I work at a laundry mat. If a customer is confused on how something operates, then it should be well within the attendant's scope of ability to help or explain. Clearly they need to either hire someone else or get machines they don't require a phd in washing machinology to use their facility. Better yet, it's okay, I won't be back. I'm just informing people so they can make a decision accordingly! Ridiculous, rude, and unprofessional!!!!!!!!

This Laundry Connection is located in a plaza with a dog grooming and has plenty of parking…read moreavailable. My husband and I decided to do our laundry here, as it was one of the closest places near our AirBnB rental while we visited Indianapolis. There are rows and rows of washers and dryers and all of which were working, none were broken. All washers and dryers are coin operated (taking only quarters). There is a coin machine available for those that don't typically carry coins. There is also table space available to fold your clean laundry. The washers we used (it seemed like there were 2 different types of washers, with different price points) cost about $2.25 per load. The dryers (again different dryers with different price points) was about $0.25 for every 5 minutes. Surprisingly some of our clothes (not jeans though because you know how it takes a long time for those to dry) was dry after 5 minutes (like socks, underwear, a few shirts, etc). Laundry, per load, can be costly but just depends on how long it takes to dry your clothes. It actually may be better to dry your clothes over 2 dryers instead of trying to put all of them in one dryer (especially if you are washing jeans/ denim). My husband and I came here on Monday, July 4th, around 6:45 pm (lol, I know that doesn't sound exciting to do on Independence Day but at least the place was pretty empty and quiet and we benefited from the free air conditioning. Also I'm not a big fan of fireworks, like I was when I was a kid). There was only 3 other parties doing laundry during the time we were there. We figured it would just be easier to wait for our laundry instead of drive back and forth. Please note that there is a clean restroom in the back with the essentials (toilet paper, running water, soap, paper towels) in case you need to use it. There is also free WiFi and I did end up using an outlet on the wall to charge my cell phone while I was waiting. There are a few chairs that you can sit while you wait for your laundry. The employee was in charge of the place was friendly. During our time there, I did see her clean a row of washers. She had told us and another gentleman who came in, that she was going to clean this row of washers and so they will not be available for use at the moment (but you could use the many other washers, which there are plenty, in the meantime). Overall, I am happy that we had clean clothes after being on our vacation for about a week (I prefer to wash my clothes while on vacation and also come home with clean clothes because that really makes all the difference after a vacation. For this reason, I travel with dry laundry detergent pods and dryer sheets. Please note that this laundromat does have a coin operated vending machine if you need to purchase detergent and dryer sheets) and would visit this laundromat again if I was staying in the same area.

I've never had sun-tanning here. ("How do they get the sun to shine only on those who pay?" is one of my favorite movie lines.) They do not do dry-cleaning, but that was the closest category to choose from. They are not 24 hours like some other stores in their chain. But this one is open until midnight if you need to do late-night laundry. About 6 or so flat panel TV's up on the wall. There's a "play land" area for the rug-rats if you need to take them with you. And the usual pop and snack vending machines. Prices are reasonable. Not quite as low as Indyland laundromat up at 38th and Mitthoeffer, but at least here they have hot and warm water. This place is clean enough for me, but not quite as scrupulously clean as Indyland. One of my pet peeves (about any coin-op laundry) is the need for the employees to clean out the soap dispenser thingees on a daily basis. They get a little grungy if you don't. You need a step stool to get to it and do it right on the bigger front-loaders. (Yeah, that's me. Mr. Cool-Suave-and-Sophisticated, man about town, who reviews the exotic restaurants sampling the world-cuisine world, doing his own laundry on a Saturday night in an ethnic part of town.) But hey, the staff here is friendly, and the neighborhood just a little nicer than 38th street. Another thing that makes it safer and nicer is that there are no other businesses on this property and none other that share this parking lot. So the only people you run into are doing laundry too. You don't get cross-over traffic from other stores. So I kind of like that. And they have some of the really big front loaders for large items or convenience of doing just one or two big loads. They have free wi-fi.

The staff ignore and accept these selfish acts by patrons as the norm. There was no intervention by the manager on duty to correct matters during my recent visits. I wanted to especially commend the young ladies who were present today (December 28th, 2012) between the hours of 2pm and 4pm who were having to deal with the issue of a lack of water due to a maintenance man (incorrectly) turning off the water. The young ladies were informed by the maintenance man that he would need to turn off the HOT water to repair the issue. He then left to get a part. However, the maintenance man actually turned off ALL the water. This created an issue (as you can imagine) for the customers who were trying to wash clothes. While some customers were understanding, other customers were quite rude. Throughout everything the young ladies kept their composure, were incredibly polite, offered multiple solutions for the problem at hand and, in general, did their employer PROUD. I have managed young women before and, let me tell you, the young ladies at Laundry Land & Tan would have made me very proud, had I ever been employed as their boss. They were also extremely conscientious about the cleanliness of the establishment and were concerned about getting out and mopping up wet spots quickly, which customers had tracked in from the snow outdoors. They were very concerned about safety issues from people potentially slipping. I will DEFINITELY be back - my heart was warmed and my faith in quality employees restored in what I observed there today. Great job, young ladies - kindness, professionalism and a good work ethic have not completely disappeared! : )
