Both were very good , served with some garlic bread and salad on the side. There is a cocktail bar situated at the entrance which has a good selection of beer on draught and wines . We actually were tempted back the following night with a group of friends to see if the standard was the same . That being said, Bar Solo is a very friendly, quiet charming bar. The service is good and the staff are very welcoming. The drinks can be a little on the pricey side from what I can remember but nice. The decor of the place is modern minimalist but it has a warm feel to it. This is a great place to meet for a couple of drinks to catch up with a friend or a place to start a night out.

I was hankering for a straight up daiquiri, but this wasn't going to happen in Ambleside. He did, however, gladly make my Dad his very first white Russian -- which he loved. Happy days! Especially as that wasn't on the menu. For me, I had one of their in-house cocktails, which was strong, super sweet, and about 3 of my 5-a-day (it was loaded with fresh strawberries). That alone was enough to make me forgive Ambleside for the lack of proper cocktails. He blended it with ice, filled it with rum, and although it was slow to drink (ice cream headache central) it was delicious. There's a good amount of seating, although during busier times getting a table/seat is impossible unless you turn up early. The decor is similar to Concrete just more dated/slightly cheaper feel. There is also a pool table that is available but rarely at nights, actually I don't think I've seen it out at night. The food is okay, mainly sandwiches/panini's and jackets - satisfy you if you are after a quick bite. The music is similar to Concrete, only problem is - it's way too loud for a bar, if it was a club no problem but it's not and it would be nice to actually hear conversations from my friends.

The setting of the place is very modern and stylish, with granite bricks, African style ornamental pieces, glass and great lighting. The bar is well stocked to serve and mix a variety of cocktails, all quite tasty and affordable, the shot mixtures are definitely the nicest though. The music can be a bit hit and miss - last time I went they seemed to be stuck on an RnB/mainstream Hiphop loop which doesn't appeal to me at all, nowadays I think it's more varied. Concrete is one of those 'moment' places, it's a place people go if everyone else seems to be going (this was especially relevant when it just opened when I was at uni and all the students went just because 'everyone else will be there') and during these times you can be queuing outside for a long time - longest for me was an hour, and I only waited that long as my housemate at the time was the Student Union president and wanted support, otherwise I would have moved to another bar. Other times, Concrete can be so empty it lacks atmosphere - hit and miss - can be great, can be boring, just make sure you go with a few friends.
