I had the Steak and Ale pie and it was just delicious. The mashed potatoes were perfect and the vegetable medley was just what I needed after all the fried food I had been having on the trip. I tried my friend's lamb and it was to die for. The only complaint I heard was about the chutney for the vegan curry. Save room for dessert. The sticky toffee pudding was one of the best desserts I've ever had; I'll be thinking about it for a long time.

The staff are great too, providing swift service and also assisting a disabled member of my party. Grab a reservation (or at least call ahead) if you plan to visit, as it's not the biggest place, but that's part of why it's so good.

Never seems to be open no matter what time of day I am in the area! However it is seeped in history…read morethough so maybe a hidden gem. The village was created by Danish Vikings as a fishing and trading port and the area developed into a Emigrant port. John Paul Jones (founder of the American Navy) himself was a local lad and sailed from here. Prisoners were also sent to Australia from this port. There is little left of the pier which once graced the shores but if you listen carefully, you can still hear the smuggler moving their illegal wares! The Steamboat Inn offers B&B at 30GBP per night an have a self contained cottage available too.
