First off, this place allows dogs inside...instantly off to great start . It is such a cute, quaint pub. My husband and I had a little bit of trouble finding a table initially but we grabbed a beer at the bar, and by the time we received them, a table opened up. We started with the mini Camembert- delicious- comes with bread, veggies, and caramelized red onion chutney!! I then ordered the Beef & Ale Pie and my husband ordered the Hungarian Goulash. My Pie was crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. The mashed potatoes were thick and creamy and you can definitely tell it's all fresh! The goulash needed a pinch of salt but was overflowing with meat and potatoes and the tomato sauce was super flavorful. The garlic bread that came with the goulash was buttery and like the pie- crispy on the outside but soft inside! Easily one of the best meals we had while in England/Scotland. Lastly, don't forget to put a coin in the walls

An amazing find in the Lake District's Keswick! Our lovely hosts Jo and Mark of Lane Head Farm Country Guesthouse recommended this great place. They warned us that it would be difficult to find a table to eat because it's a popular amongst locals. But the boyfriend and I are daredevils and took the risk in order to sample their famous Hungarian Goulash! The Dog & Gun is a lovely wee find. It's a dog-friendly pub, and there were loads of adorable dogs... squealing at every moment I spotted a new one and begging the boyfriend for a puppy. But all my squealing and wanting was to no avail. Sadness. They feature a great range of ales with a good selection from the local Keswick brewery. After table-stalking for about 15-20 minutes, we swooped in and were able to nab a quiet little corner booth close to the fireplace. As with most pubs, you order the food at the bar. We had the famous Hungarian goulash and roast lamb shank... amazingly tasty and filling that we were nearly about to pop! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience in this lively dog-friendly pub. The presence of dogs made it especially better, because I've been keen on getting a pup for quite some time... but that's a whole other story. Moral of the story: definitely check it out if you're in the Lake District and have enough patience to table stalk in order to try out the delicious goulash and lamb, and enjoy tasty beers.

This pub is always busy in the evenings. Having been here a few times just for the goulash & tneakstons Old Peculiar beer. It does a range of local real ales. it's a must try location in Keswick. Be prepared to share your table & meet some new people.

The food here is great and the atmosphere is even better. They have lots of dogs and you can bring yours to. I would not recommend this resteraunt for kids, just because they might not like the food, but thats up to you. Overall this is a nice place

Great pub in the quaint lake town of Keswick! Just walk up to the bar, order your food and drinks, then find a spot to sit. Food arrives quickly, but tastes like it's been cooking all day. I enjoyed the Hungarian goulash, which was quite nice! We also ordered the chicken and wine pie, which was superb. Nice variety of draught beers. Welcoming atmosphere and plenty of dogs to pet (this is a pet friendly town at its best)!

    Chicken Tikka Masala...yum!

Great fun! Stopped for a beer, petted a few pups and had the BEST piled pork nachos ever! Sounded sketchy but superb.
