Fragata has a prime Instagram-worthy location at the base of St. Bartholomew & St. Thecla, Sitges' famous landmark church. We didn't have a reservation. The host insisted the preferred outdoor tables were all reserved so we went inside. Frankly, the outdoor ambiance is the best thing about Fragata. It's romantic and classy. The indoor ambiance is nice, with an upscale black tablecloth vibe. Lighting was a bit too harsh for decent indoor photos. Service was prompt and courteous. We shared appetizers which were delicious, especially the croquettes. Unfortunately they were out of my fish entree choice, so I had scallops. The food was good, but nothing that stood out. When we left, we noticed the same empty outdoor tables. Hmm. The Amelia hotel recommended this restaurant and 6 of us had dinner on a Sunday night…read more The place was really nice. Tables had white table clothes. The waiter was friendly and the help in general inviting. The bread was not so great but there was really good olive oil and vinegar on the table. The goat cheese salad was really good. I highly recommend. The clams were not worth it. Seriously $22 for 8 clams. Crazy. Do not order it! And I've had the delicious baby clams- these are not them. The baby squid with peppers was also good. My friend was super excited that they had Coke Zero. The wine was excellent. Big restaurant but they seated everyone on top of each other. Hate that. Why not spread us out? Restaurant was not full ( we ate early by Spanish standards). For our main dishes, everyone got fresh fish. Sea bass, salmon, salt cod, etc. Everyone loved the fish they ordered and cleaned their plates. Mine was delicious! My "side of vegetables" was a couple of carrot sticks, two asparagus, and two partial pieces of potatoes. Looked like a tiny portion but was about right. Torrone ice cream for dessert was awesome. tThey would not give us separate checks which was a bummer but it's a European thing. Ok. They gave us the wrong tables check and realized it after we paid. So then we had to pay the difference. Really a hasssle. Overall, fantastic fish. Come for that! I would return.

Our beach day was interrupted by thunderstorms so we searched for a lunch spot. Being a Monday,…read moremany restaurants were closed (we thought that was unusual for a resort town filled with tourists needing to eat) or packed to overflowing. Surprisingly, the hidden gem Vivinwine was open and without a crowd. It's on a small side street and we were the only ones there at the time. Our party of 5 took the large table in front of a window looking into the kitchen. The staff were all pleasant and friendly. They made us feel like we were dining in their home. When I asked what the Carne o Pescado Brasa (grilled meat or fish of the day) was, the chef cheerfully brought out two fish species to pick from. He didn't know the English term but we found it was a whole pliace (I never heard of the English term either)! I had fun watching him prep and grill my lunch. And it was very tasty, a colorful, healthy foodie dish which was the best lunch I've had on Sitges. My first course Tartar de Kumato (Tomate Negro) was a refreshing tomato salad. My friends' entrees were delicious as well, especially the Carrillera de Cerdo Rustica (roast pig cheek) Arroz del dia which was Black Paella, and the Merluza en Salsa Verde Cítrica (Hake in citrius green sauce). For dessert my selection of Crema Catalan con Crumble was fabulous. The lunch menu is in Catalan, so Google Translate camera came in handy. The menu changes daily. Lunch prix fixe 3 excellent courses plus wine for 14,90€. A steal!

Vivinwine was able to seat our party of eight in Sitges, which is seemingly a difficult endeavor. The staff was attentive and kind and at the end of the meal they came by with limoncello, which we all appreciated. I'm always sad when a restaurant doesn't have tinto de verano or sangria, but this place is clearly too fancy for that, but the wine selection is wonderful, so that more than makes up for it! We ordered the bread with tomato (obvs, we're in Spain, it's a MUST), the cheese plate, the salmon, the croquettes, and one of each of the desserts. The dishes were gourmet and a surprising bite of flavor and fusion. Would definitely return to Vivinwine if I went back to Sitges!

Also, reservations for lunch and dinner are basically a requirement especially daily in the high season and on low season weekends. The best way is to stop by in person a few days in advance. Where's the best paella in Sitges? Quite possibly right here at Bon Estar. Whenever we come to Sitges we almost make a pilgrimage to Bon Estar to partake in their famous and fabulous Paella Marinera, Seafood Paella. Also unique and delicious is Arroz negro con Sépia y Almejas, Black Rice with Cuttlefish and Clams. This trip we went to Bon Estar twice. I tried the Prensado de Cochinillo "Bon Estar 50" which is Roasted Suckling Pig. I'm not sure what the 50 meant and the dish was not what I was expecting, thinking it would be more like a Lechon with crispy skin. Instead it came in a pastry puff shell. Paletina de Codero Asada a Baja Tempuratura, Roast Shoulder of Lamb was nice and tender. As always, the Tiramisu dessert is a highlight. It comes in a jar, and so rich and creamy! Pair it with a Cortado!

Our reserved table for 10 afforded us the ability to order many shared starters before our own entrees came. Favorite starters: *Galacian Octopus (Pulpo Gallego) was perfectly cooked tender, and came with a delicious sauce over sliced potatoes. A friend even ordered it as his entree! *Fried Calamari (Los Calamares) came in cut strips and we are them all. *Marine clams (Las Amejas) were fresh and bathed in a fantastic white wine and garlic. *Cuttlefish with Garlic (Sepia a la Plancha) was grilled whole and I could've eaten one by myself. My entree was Grilled Turbot (Rodaballo a la Plancha). The fish was so huge it was split into four entrees. It was the tastiest fish on my trip. It was perfectly grilled and moist. I had no problem with bones. Grilled Hake (Cogote de Merluza) and Sole were also delcious. For dessert don't pass up the creamy limoncello served in a frozen lemon! I forgot the names of the wines we had but we ran through 5 bottles of amazing Priorat. Since discovering Priorat wines in Sitges, I've been on a mission to find it in the US. It's pretty difficult! Service was spectacular and the wait staff were very personable, as if we were dining in a family's home. La Marinada is the top restaurant on my list when I return to Sitges!
